Hi,
I was running stock ICS 4.0.4 root and with TWRP recovery, I decided to do a factory reset so I went to the "backup and restore" option located on System Settings, after click on the "factory reset" option my phone reboots and then goes to TWRP recovery, from here I manually click on Factory Reset and then when I try to reboot to system every time it goes to recovery.
Now I can't boot into OS everytime it will just go to recovery...
Any help would be really appreciated!
Try this.
Warning this will wipe all of your data!
Ok now onto something you should try. To get to the Factory Hard Reset:
1. Turn off the phone.
2. Hold down the Volume Down button and the Power button at the same time.
3. Click Factory reset when the menu asks you if you want to.
Let me know if that helps.
The only way I ever found to fix this was reflashing the kdz/bin

hello guys, i need help on my o4x, actually i've failed to upgrade from v10c to v10f so each time i turn on my device it just looping on the s/w upgrade screen, thanks for advance, i really need help cuz this is emergency T_T
just enter recovery and do a clean factory reset
turn on mobile while holding VOL- down until it shows recovery, select "wipe data/factory reset" and reboot.
and you should be all fine.
if you installed clockworkmod and did a full back or used titanium to backup apps, you could save all configs, so try that for next time.

You should search a little more "how to flash", "how to unbrick", etc... I think that almost of the possible problems with "bad flash"
were already posted somewhere.
Just to avoid people being repeat over and over the same
Try this link (if you didn't yet...):

Hi my phone is unuseable now...
Everytime the messege Sorry! The process android.process.acore has stpped. Try again pops up.
I can't (or just don't now how to) enter recovery.
I also can't go to settings because the message pops up every 2 seconds.
When I click Force Close it goes back to the launcher.
Can I do a factory reset (I think it is solved then)?
How do I do that?

I'm rather sure you only have Recovery if you installed CWM. Than just press power long and select it from that menu.

There might be simpler ways but that will help definitly http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21472502&postcount=1
A simple Factory Reset would probably be enough but when you can't do it.
i think there is factory reset in secret menu

What ROM do you have installed? A stock one, or a custom ROM?
Infact in both ways you can do a factory reset by:
Plug in USB cable, enable usb debugging (if you have a custom ROM, it always should be on),
download the adb package from my noob how to (see attachments)
cd to the directory containing the adb files, type:
adb reboot recovery
Now you either are in CWM and can do the wipes 1 by 1, or if you have a stock ROM, it will perform
a factory reset right away
If all of that doesnt work, you have to use smartflashtool!

It's running the stock ROM and I thought USB debugging was disabled.
Can't I put firmware on a sd card that will flash automatically without recovery or going into the menu?

Hello,
Here is my problem, wanting to flash a theme on my Xperia Z, I had to perform a cache cleaning, this one was unusually long (~5minutes), so I brutally shut down the phone via power + volume up.
I wasn't aware of:
Phone hangs when cleaning cache?
Just leave it for a few minutes, it's needs some time to clean cache

Unfortunately it is now impossible for me to get back to the recovery (LED turns green but does not change to purple while holding volume up).
I already tried:
- Reinstall CWM recovery
- Install TWRP recovery hoping "overwrite" CWM (does not work either)
- Uninstall TWRP recovery
- Use the "reboot in recovery" option via clockworkmod and application TWRP (just reboot the phone normally)
edit:
- I now tried to do a factory reset but it's not working, nothing happen when I click "erase all data", can't tell if it's related though...
Having no other ideas I think it would be best to totally remove CWM recovery (via adb ?) and then reinstall it "properly"
Thanks
Update: Just tried to do a factory reset via settings but I doesn't work, nothing happen when I click "erase all data", can't tell if it's related though. Is there any other way to do a factory reset so I can go back to normal ?
Thanks
So as LG-P880 flashing instructions were too much hassle for my taste
Here it is a very simple way to upgrade/downgrade your phones easy peasy
Everything will be gone so backup first!

Unrar and copy your downloaded new firmware inside LG Flash Tool 2014 folder
Browse to Driver folder and install/double click LGUnitedMobileDriver_S50MAN311AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.11.3.exe file.
Shutdown and remove SIM&EXTSDCARD from the back of the phone. Leave battery in-place don't take it out.
Press and hold Vol(-) connect usb cable coming from pc->download mode
Run LGFlashTool2014.exe
Selections
CDMA or 3GQCT doesn't matter really
DIAG
KDZ file location
then select preferred flash mode
Normal Flash: Flash ROM without losing any data. Only use this when you need to fix system error. Beware of boot loop when flashing ROM that differ from current ROM on your phone or MOD ROM.
CSE Flash: Choose this option when you need a fresh format. All data will be gone. It's suitable for upgrading or downgrading ROM or simply use this when you need to back to Stock.
Done, enjoy!
Update:
If you get
This mode is for data backup at service center ...

in recovery repeat flashing the KDZ and you will get the stock recovery this time.
Wow, thx Demetris, you are my savior just in time.
With the online upgrade the phone is always stuck in a bootloop and the old offline method just didn't work as it gave me a file extract error, although I know I've done everything correct (maybe the issue was leaving the sim and sd card inside or selecting 3GQCT?)
Btw and fyi, the CSE method is only available if CDMA is selected.
Thanks for making this fast and simple tutorial that even works ^^
Thank you for the great tutorial. I tried exact accordance with my LG-P880 to update. Unfortunately it did not work, the device starts but then remains at the LG logo, no further reaction. Restart / reset no improvements. Options in Android System recoveryy <3e> do not work. Do you have an idea how I can still save my beloved P-880?
Use CDMA and select CSE flash. After update and phone sticks at lge logo remove battery hold vol +(99% of times you need to use - but for me was +) and press power on. On stock recovery factory reset and now phone will boot
I did and the unit freezes. The figure Android is flat and shows an exclamation mark.

For me it worked without a factory reset, just flashing and restarting.
Forget what I said, i think I did a factory reset and wiped nv partition before I flashed the new firmware with this tutorial.
@alberteske all firmwares can be found here: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=15
but some links are broken, after clicking on a link you have to replace the "%2F" at the end of the adress with a "/"

baseband change without flashing whole kdz?
isn't a way to extract the baseband files and flash them without having to flash kdz + unlock + re-install everything...?

Think here you mean:
press and hold [vol -] and [power] until you got the "android recovery figure"
then clear cache and make factory reset

Somehow my phone got to the LG logo but is in bootloop. Tryed vol+ and power. I can get to stock recovery, but how to factory reset from there?
Reboot phone
ADB sideload
Factory reset
...something like that
I think that you must see that options when enter recovery(vol- and power button),then using volume buttons select factory reset and confirm with power button. I also have bootloop after flashing kdz but after factory reset phone boot properly.
BTW i use flash kdz tutorial not that method from Demetris

I am getting errors on my phone and want to factory reset. What is the best method to do this? I have rooted developer edition.
There's always factory reset on the settings menu. Or use RSD Lite to flash the current firmware.
Is your bootloader unlocked?
I've never had great success with the Factory Reset in the settings menu.
I would use the option in Recovery. Turn the phone off and enter recovery by holding Power and VOL DOWN for about 4-5 seconds. Release and navigate with VOL DOWN button. If you go past an option, keep tapping VOL DOWN to cycle through again. VOL UP is "enter", power shuts the phone off.
Press VOL Down to get to Recovery and then press VOL UP to select it. Your phone will boot into recovery and you will see a dead android icon (chest open). When you see this, press both VOL UP and VOL DOWN together and release. You will then see options in recovery for performing a factory reset.

Several ways...
Settings -> Backup & Reset -> Factory Data Reset
Boot the phone in fastboot/bootloader mode, from the PC... fastboot erase userdata
Boot into recovery, and reset from there (in TWRP its under Wipe)
Thanks, had to flash stock because the other methods still left phone with issues.
That's what I always do. Wipe everything in fastboot, flash in fastboot.
