Hello,
I am contemplating buying a galaxy tab. I would like to know if someone can help me find out how many many apps available right now to the tab. Personally, i feel the number is not that important as long as the apps you really need are available, but i thought of asking anyways.
I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.
Go to Market.android.com. All the apps can be browsed there.

But isn't that for android phones as well? I was talking about apps made for tabs.
Thanks for replying.
It's not really as comparable as in the Apple App store, which needed the apps converting to tablet versions, as Android apps tend to be able to scale to multiple resolutions in a neater manner.
The SDK has many examples of handling different resolutions/dpi devices, so these days, pretty much everything you see, scales on phones/tablets.
So still worth going to the market and just browsing away.
There /are/ some games that require tegra chips, not sure what filter to show just them though.
For games there is thread discussion here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897901
the guestion you should ask IS ... How Many Apps Aren't For The Galaxy Tab
More than you can afford
swyped from a galaxy far far away
Just to clarify coz I've been asking myself the same question.
Almost all the apps in the market will work on the Tab and look nice because it is still counted as a phone (software wise). Still, all the 'Tablet" apps which are made for the Honeycomb will not work on our Tab.
Among the ones that work, I found a lot of the apps that make a slight use of the bigger screen but not as the honeycomb.
A wrap up, you'll find more than what you need in the market for the Tab...

Yes, but apps made for phones work on tablets as well. Take Angry Birds for example. There is no tablet specific Angry Birds app. The phone version works just fine on tablets though. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but in general, any app that works on a phone will work on a tablet.

A few months ago I heard about a company called CornerStone that was demoing TRUE multitasking on Android. It was pretty awesome. It allowed you to run up to 3 apps simultaneously on the screen and you could easily interact with each of them. Check out the video below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX8w3UZIjkc
Just when I thought this project was dead, they dropped a big bomb. Now OnSkreen (which was suppose to be reserved for big manufacturers to use) is now OPEN SOURCE! That means devs can bake this into their ROM and we, the users, can enjoy awesome multitasking capabilities! This is gonna be awesome! Can't wait to see where this goes.

props to dgcruzing for the news.
Android already have true multitasking... this app just gives you an interface to better control it.
Maybe they should actually market it for what it really is instead of talking utter crap by claiming to add something that already exists.

Hum... You can't have different applications opened in windowed mode in Android, even on a tablet running Ics.. I know that I've got one...
This isn't an app that can be written in java, it's a modification of OS to be able to handle multiple applications on the same screen...
Android is multitask, you're right, but not as a computer can be.
Can't see the real benefit on little phone screen, and above all only developed for Android 4.0.x.
So I think it's a good news, but for tablet stuff..
And no need to be so virulent against the poor guy...

You are not in dev section no need to talk about self made things... And again as you said that was not what you stated. You yelled at him because he doesn't know what he was talking about...
A new open source tool is always welcomed.

So had anyone managed to get winterboard to install without an error from the play store .Has it been recognized as not compatible with the htc one.The cydia substrate installed fine.
Many reviews on the substrate install and winterboard install claim it works on many galaxys and other brands .
Also wanted to ad that I think I may have over heard that soff is needed for us in particular?

You do realize that substrate, if actually taken advantage of, will completely blow away xposed and the need to flash zips and would allow us to do a lot more when it comes to modding android? The one thing jailbroken iPhones have over android is the tweaking and modding is actually better because of substrate. I still have my old iPhone 4 jailbroken and the tweaks and what not are a lot better than android. Though because jailbreaks are harder to come by now and take a long time to make, I left that scene and joined android. Very happy with my decision but still, substrate is amazing.

I had it installed and it practically made my phone unusable. I installed winterboard and rebooted and it made every single app on the device crash. Nothing would open at all. Thank God for the holding volume down on boot trick because otherwise it would have required a new install. Not even safemode would work

Wow I didnt wanna start a debockle. It was just a question, and I agree if it worked which I assume In time it will.. cause evidently there are more people pro for it then apposed to it. And if it worked for apple as well as it does it could make android awesome .
Cydia ui tweaks and mods are very unique for what they do for a iPod and if that same concept opens it's doors for android it's all good from there .
Saurik, wouldn't have waisted his time if he had not planned for success at this .He clearly succeded with cydia and apple.
Anyways lets not sit here and bash and get off topic, the topic and question was just a moderate simple one.... and already blown out of proportion

I used mobile substrate when I had an iPhone it was great and was needed for iOS, but on Android it really isnt needed in my opinion.
Hello guys
I wonder why some apps are not compatible with my i9000
example real racing 3, you only need 2.3 or higher in facts i9000 has 2.3.6
so why i cant play this game?
there are thousand more i can't play but my android is still higher than its required.
:/
thanks in advance.
Some apps including real racing 3 are marked as not compatible for some phones , not because of the android version , but because the developers consider that those apps won't work well or won't work at all on some phones. Real racing 3 if you get the apk from somewhere else, works fine for most of the time with very rare lags for a second or two on i9000. I've requested on Google Play that I would like EA to add i9000 for that game as a compatible device but still no respond

Really interestign that some apps, still work on i9000 but not marked as compatible in google play ...

I totally agree and I hate the fact that the devs refuse to add devices that have proof with video on YouTube that the app works great on a device and they should add it as compatible. But we can't do anything if they ignore that and we have to live with it and get the apk from some other source.

Sometimes its because developers also limit availability based on specs - Firefox browser (a bit of a moot point because it works on almost every device) and PvZ 2 are examples of this - some devices don't have access to these apps because the developers believe that in terms of a general viewpoint, these devices won't be able to run it.
So even though Real Racing 3 does apparently work almost flawlessly on the S, its partly beacuse the game devs think that the S doesn't have the specs to run it.

HTML5 works fine. Flash doesn't work any better than it does on iOS or Android (since the Android Flash version was discontinued years ago).
Some particular site you're trying to use? YouTube, for example, works fine if you use HTML5.

U would be suprised but i have better speeds results with laptop way than mobile app way!!

The version of Flash available for Android is very outdated and should not be used anymore; it's missing a bunch of security patches, among other things. If you have it installed, you should probably remove it.
On Windows Phone, I get the same speed running the SpeedTest app and using SpeedTest.Net on my laptop tethered through the phone. Sounds more like a problem with the Android app than anything else...
