Hey guys,
I have been trying to root my Xperia Z (10.3.1.A.2.67) for the past three hours now with no success..
I followed this guide: www android gs/root-xperia-z-stock-10-3-1-a-0-2442-67-firmware/ and am now stuck at step 3 of the actual rooting (not the preparation). I cannot seem to find how I can flash the custom kernel to my phone using Emma.
I have googled around for a while and found that I can add services to Emma using the tools menu, too bad I don't have one: prntscr com/23psmy
I would love to root my phone or at least get my own kernel thingy back D:

You downloaded Flashtools from here, right?

One thing to consider is that Emma Flashtool is NOT Flashtools.

I have, and it does NOT work, tried every windows version in there, not a single one worked. Tried restarting, safe mode, compatibility mode, admin mode and restarting again. It's been way too long now and I'm just giving up. This went so much easier with my S3...
I'll try again tomorrow if I feel like it but if I have to go through all this freaking trouble I don't think it'll be worth it..
Can anyone please help my with this? Because I don't want to have a reset phone that hasn't even been rooted..
Download it again and check the MD5 of the file you downloaded. As a quick check, the file should be around 112MB.
Something is definitely wrong, as there are many people using Flashtool on Windows 8 without issues and it is definitely not a 16 bit application (32 and 64 bit executables are installed).

Alright I got it to work now. However, I get the following error when trying to flash another kernel:
13/016/2013 21:16:11 - INFO - Please unplug and start your phone

I enabled debugging and unknown sources and held my flash button (volume down) while plugging in my phone again. (Also tried volume up) Neither one worked.
The only thing that changed is that my wifi won't enable anymore.

Can't see any errors. Looks like a clean kernel flash.
What's exactly the error? You lacking wifi? Are you using a custom kernel like DooMLord's?
For wifi to work on Doom's kernel you have to flash the kernel.zip from recovery.

I also don't see any errors. Don't worry about wifi not working. You should only be running with the old kernel long enough to root, so it doesn't matter.
Root using DooMLoRD's script, flash your original kernel back and you're done.

After having many problems rooting my xperia t james bond phone, I decided making a noob-ready tutorial on how to root the xperia t and probably other phones aswell.
No technical stuff, just follow the steps and you will be rooted in no time.
I did this with:
android version 4.0.4
build 7.0.A.3.195
So the very first thing you should do is unlocking your bootloader. Sony has made their own tutorial on how to do this, but It can be a little complicated. Im gonna link you to it and to a videp which explains it very well. I prefer the video myself.
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e1DYnoxUm0
After that you will need to unlock recovery mode. You can do this in 2 ways but I prefer the easy one.
The easy one is:
Installing a custom kernel with recovery mode integrated in it.
Use this link to download the kernel or go to the forum thread where I found it:
http://www.mediafire.com/?n4v89r2fvri2wlb
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1922925
Now that you've got the kernel with recovery mode integrated downloaded, we need to flash/install it into the phone.
You need to do this via flashtool. That's atleast the easiest I think.
You can download flashtool from the following website:
http://androxyde.github.com/
Install it. If you have problems installing the drivers for flashtool, you can use this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOC57DfI1zo
Now you need to make sure your phone is on and connected to your pc.
Open flashtool and click on the thunderbolt in the upper left corner.
Select fastboot mode.
Now select "Reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB)"
Wait for it to reboot. There should be a blue light turned on, on your phone.
Now look at your pc screen again. Click on "Select Kernel To Flash"
Select the kernel that I Gave you in the beginning of the tutorial.
Wait for it to install and your mobile probably reboot etc. untill it is on.
Now download Superuser zip file : https://rapidshare.com/#!download|939p5|3415386268|Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip|1324|0|0
Place the Superuser zip file on your mobile phone memory card or internal memory.
Now Turn off your phone completely.
Now we are gonna go into recovery mode to install Superuser.
There are several ways to do this but the one I use is holding both the volume buttons down and then holding the power button aswell.
(I did this when my phone was connected from my pc) or you use this video (skip to 3:31)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fMk0PhA_qc
It should boot into recovery mode. You can use the volume buttons to go up and down and the power button to select. Browse to the sdcard for the superuser.zip file and install it. (the most easy part).
Now go back to the start screen of recovery mode and select reboot into system.
Done, you have now got a fully rooted xperia T lt30p
Please tell me if I missed something. My first post ever lol
This post helped me alot:

Many thanks for your input here, but it is just a replication of the all in one thread instructions.
Also, to enter recovery mode you just need to press the volume up button when the purple led appears at boot up, you dont need to press all 3 buttons.
Also, you can download the SuperSU.apk directly from the market instead of flashing it in recovery.
Never the less, this is quite comprehensive and i have linked it to the all in one thread.

Update via SUES or PCCompanion if your firmware has the official update. If not you can still upgrade via flashtool, just read the all in one thread. All information is there.
However, if you update the only way to root is unlock your bootloader.

Hi my name is John.
I had a account here before but it seems my account has been deleted.
when i had that account i had allot of info on how to install mods and such.
Now i have a new mobile Xperia V
I am wondering if some know where i can get a tutorial on how to flash my mobile and get mods in it.
I do not want to make my own mod just so u know so im wondering if there is a tutorial on it and if some knows a nice transparent look or something.
I really would like to get the bottom bar with transparent look and with pulsating lights on the icons like the back home and shortcut icons.
I hope some can tip me on some tutorials atleast but it would be even greater if some can say good UI styles to. I would be so thankful if some can help me. i really don't like the neutral look and lac of options in the stock versions..
- Root your phone
- Install Clockworkmod Recovery
- Install Xposed Installer
- Install Gravitybox and get more UI options you ever thought about
That will also help you to learn more about your device first. Afterwards you can still take your time and look around for some other mods that can be flashed or otherwise installed permanent.
Thanks.

connect your phone to PC
enable USB debugging on the phone

Well you must be using a ROM otherwise you could not root your phone. It is the stock ROM I assume. I hope 4.1.2.

You need a ROM that can be flashed via Recovery in the first place. All ROM developers will tell you in their opening thread about the requirements. Some require flashtool, mostly those that work with unlocked bootloaders. Some require a Recovery, usually those that work with locked bootloaders (these work with unlocked BL, too).

The file u attached is called CWM4XperiaT not CWM4XperiaV
and if you don't believe me that you can root with a FTF file then i can upload it so u can test yourself..
how i did it was used flashmod in flashtool and then sellected the ftf file called LT25i_9.1.A.0.490_Nordic.ftf
after that i flashed a kernel with Fastboot called LT25_SXV_Stok_Kernel_9.1.A.0.490_Dogsly.ftf
then i just used the tool root device in flashtool and then i got root..
now my problem is that i dont have any recovery like TWRP or CWM
ive done a new question thread asking for help on how to get it..
Install the CWM attached. Wow. Anyway, up to you.

Well, usually when you have pc companion installed and you plug in your phone for the very first time with usb debugging enabled, all the necessary drivers are installed automatically. However if that's not what has happened with you, follow this guide http://visualgdb.com/tutorials/android/usbdebug/. If it works out for you then good otherwise then follow this one http://visualgdb.com/tutorials/android/usbdebug/manualinstall.php hope it helps
Hey guys. I was trying to install Cm10 on my sister's xperia T. I rooted it, installed recovery, wiped everything but after I flashed CM and clicked reboot, the phone is dead. I can't turn it on, I can't enter recovery mode, the PC isn't recognising it. If I push the on/off button it vibrates once but then nothing and if I push at the same time power on and volume up, it vibrates three times but then again nothing.
I know I forgot to do something while installing the ROM but please any piece of help might be extremely useful as I ended up with a dead phone and nothing I can do.

Did you unlock the phone's bootloader? Because custom roms like cyanogenmod require an unlocked bootloader for xperia phones. Also, try using the flashtool to revive your phone. This sounds pretty much like a soft brick. If I'm right, it's 100% guarandeed you can bring the phone back to life.

Are there other errors above the ones seen there?
What ROM did you Flash? Maybe you could try with ones found here on XDA.
Also, when you start up the FlashMode process in Flashtools, is your phone already connected?

Yes it was a problem caused by the ROM I was trying to install. I found one with stock 4.0.4 and flashed it and finally it came back to life.
And in fact it is faster than when it was running 4.3.3

Guess what: if you don't like the 4.04, you can find official 4.3 firmware files in this site. There's a collection of these things. Just search for them.

Thanks for the tip. In fact I'll make another effort to install CM and this time I'll make sure to follow every step properly. But comparing the two editions, I think 4.0 is smoother than 4.3.
Been trying to root my Z3 compact (D5803) 23.4.A.1.264, can't officially unlock bootloader so trying to downgrade to 23.0.A.2.93, followed instructions for flashtool at least 20 times but can't seem to do it.. Starts of fine, click the ftf I want to flash, tick wipe data ect.. Prepares the files for flashing, device connected in flash mode but Always says ERROR.. Unable to open bundle.. Flash cancelled.. Grrr I'm literally pulling my hair out trying to figure it out lol help pretty please
It appears you may not have the correct adb drivers installed, or the ftf you have is corrupt
Okay thanks, I've downloaded another ftf so will try that one..how do I get the correct adb drivers?? X

I would read through all of these instuctions.
Following bilboa1's how to OP, I went from new out of the box to SLIM 4.4 in about 40 minutes.
DO take the time to do a back up of your TA partition.
Easy way to root 23.4.A.1.264 --> Kingroot 4.82 (downloadable here)
Then when you have root, you can flash Nut's Xperia dual recovery connecting your Z3C to your PC:

With root and dual recovery, you can flash a new ROM pre-rooted with SuperSU, like:

Kingroot sends all your phones details, including the IMEI number to an unknown server in China.
He still needs to have the correct ADB drivers installed
