I just received an HTC Vivid from a friend but I can't turn on the wifi or bluetooth (it just hangs at turning on) and I can't get any cell service. I know that some HTC phones use the battery cover as an antenna and mine doesn't have the back cover. Could anyone tell me if their Htc vivid's wifi and cell works without the backcover before i order one please?

Wifi and bluetooth work fine without my back cover. No SIM so can't check that.

Hi guys,
i just recently bought a unlocked htc touch diamond. i have service with at&t in USA. i know that i will not get 3G coverage on this phone but should be able to get Edge service.
The problem that i am having is that i am getting practically no signal at all. when i do get one or two bars i get 'G' icon instead of 'E'. Infact I never get the 'E' icon. Does this mean that i am not getting edge connection.
I find this out of ordinary as earlier i had htc touch hd that phone had no connection problem and was getting fairly decent 'E' edge connection. I have the original iphone and that runs fine where i am also.
Can anyone help me with this problem so i can actually use this phone.
thanks in advance:confused
My Incredible S has problems accessing internet using 2G/Edge/GPRS data plan.
The connection is established and I get the 'E' sign for Edge connectivity, but internet doesn't work in all the applications (data is only sending, but not receiving, down arrow in E is not blinking)
This happens mainly when I am roaming. But I have another android phone, Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700, which works fine in all places even while roaming, with the same connection/sim.
I enabled all the Mobile Networks setting related to roaming and restarted the device, but it didn't help.
Also, I tried doing a factory reset of the handset, but it didn't help, the same problem of no internet still exists !!
I don't know if this is a defect in my mobile or a general hardware/software issue with this model. I have already raised a case with HTC and I am thinking of contacting the service center for a repair/replacement of the device.
Does anybody has similar connectivity issues with 2G ?
I'm having the same issue. My EDGE works fine in chandigarh,INdia, but when I go on Roaming to delhi, it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't . I even sent a mail to HTC regarding this issue. The reply I got stated that it might be issue with the carrier.
Yes, have same problem with gprs, very flaky

Yup ... Edge screws me too once ina while too ... With tata docomo india

I find the phone takes ages finding signal in general when i go from somewhere I've had none at. I'm talking 5 minutes in places I had signal straight away on my hero. Same network

Same issue here and it is not about roaming. I'm on my "home" network - O2 in Prague, Czech Republic. When phone is in 3G/2G mode all is fine (it is using 3G conection). When I switch to 2G only I have this issue. Sometimes immediately, sometimes it works for usualy very short time so I'm able to synchronize e.g. weather and then it hangs. No data conection anymore and one arrow next to ''E" symbol is active for long time like if phone is trying to send data. For sure it is not about network because my older phone works fine.
I have same issue. Edge and gprs is not working.
Unfortunately in my neighborhood poor 3g coverage.
On older phone (HTC Tatoo) with same sim card edge works fine. HTC support advised me to change sim card, but it didn't help.
And also IS frequently reboots and can't boot up to the last with back cover on, but only start cyclical reboots.

Same fluctuations

Perhaps someone who knows how, could set up a thread with a poll, to see how many experience data problems on gprs verses those who have no problem with gprs data. If its a lot of people it will help with a case to HTC customer supports ?

I have the same issue too. I,m on a very stable edge here in Trondheim, Norway, and sometimes it takes ages to connect to edge and sometimes not works at all, just saying "trying to connect" over and over in the settings-window.
To you with the reboot-issue when back-cover is off: This is due to the fact that the mobile-antenna for the device actually sits in the battery-cover on the backside. So when you take off the cover the Incredible S is without antenna
HTC Incredible S
I got my phone replaced through the service center and the problem is not there in the new phone ! It is working fine in all places and during roaming as well. So the problem I had was a device manufacturing issue. HTC Customer care was very prompt and I am glad the issue was resolved.
I asked HTC about this problem and they gave me a very convenient step by step method to set up APNs in my country and all that. I had very high hopes... but i still have that E with the blinking up-arrow and the not-blinking down-arrow.
No internet connection unless I use the Pass-through connection. A solution would be very much appreciated.
So should I take it that there are no solutions to this problem? Except for replacing the phone? That's rather sad...
This is probably unrelated but I had issues with my phone getting a solid 3g connection until I changed the settings to wcdma only instead of auto. Perhaps you can try setting it to gsm only?

Hi all,
I have bought a Htc One M7 handset recently and I have noticed time to time there are No Signals (Limited Service) on it. When I switch off/ switch on or if I turn on the Airplane mode and turn off again, the signals will restore. This is happening around 2 times per day and really annoying. Need to know whether this is a known issue for the model.. I still didn't change the SIM and check. Please help!!!!!
Thanks alot!

I have the same thing
To add some detail for diagnostics see below:
- I travel into London every day and sometimes when signal drops in the tunnels it will never pick back up again after leaving them whereas my old One X did not have this on the same journeys.
- It even dropped out mid call and came up with the sim card icon at the notification bar as if no card inserted (but no selectable notification) first time its happened to this extent.
- Do you have a 4G SIM/connection or are you on 3G like myself? I'm thinking perhaps its something to do with trying to pick up 4G instead and completely disregarding the 3G connection that is available.
- I have also noticed that ever since getting the handset its never had as good signal as my One X which was pretty much always full signal in my normal areas (home, work etc) This may just be the way the handset gauges the signal not the signal itself but something to note anyway.
I'm having the same issue here in the US. It's prolly my only complaint with my phone.

I'm also having this issue but more sever with an all-day no signal. After reboot, I gain signal and I can't make and receive calls.
Try to turn 4G off.

How does one do that? Having the same problem, both wifi AND mobile network drop off. Wifi comes back on its own after a few seconds, the mobile data connection often comes back (obviously if not on wifi away from home), but the mobile network stays as no signal and doesn't come back, unless I reboot or cycle aeroplane mode. I know there's some problems with touching antenna, but this is happening a lot in the car, when the phone is powered and sitting in a cradle.

To turn off 4G you go to Settings -> Mobile data -> Network mode and then select "3G / 2G"
don't know if it'll help though, but trying is worthwhile

Thanks. The problems seems to have gone with that change. Perhaps it is some system thing kicking me off the network because I don't have 4G on my contract and my phone was trying to get it.
Now, if you can just tell me why my lovely 3-4 bar indoors signal on EE has dropped to 0-1 outdoors (as they deny there is a problem)

Are you sure it's not just cosmetic? Try going into Settings->About->Network and see if the signal (dBm) is dropping.

I have it constantly on att - I have to turn on airplane mode and turn it back off to get my network back, I have tried different roms and updates and still the issue is across all roms.
Maybe try this: in your dialer type *#*#4636#*#*. Once the menu is opened, select Phone information, then scroll down to Set preffered network type and choose one of the options (im from Serbia, europe, and I usualy go with GSM auto (PRL)).
Issue with 3g only
Whenever I keep it on 3G, it drops signals for 2 to 7 seconds at random intervals. People often complain that when they call, they get a message that my phone is switched off.. I am probably gonna try another ROM and SIM to see if that helps before dumping this phone forever.
how to solve limited service or loosing service on htc one m7
Hello
it seems to be a hardware fault where the radio is not staying on higher band
it seems to be having issues on 2100 and all umts and hspda or lte networks
however switching back to 2 g can resolve this issue and phone ( hope so) will never lose signals or drop then again
i tried this and for me this works fine so far over 12 hours now no issue
give it a try and see this should work
setting>data>network>2g only
by this you wont have option to use fast internet though but at least you can phone can be used for voice calls messaging etc and also wifi too
I was on stock lolli pop and tried to flash cm12.1 but does not help sort the limited service issue
enjoy and leave your feedback
Edit:
some people cant find 2g in settins>mobile network>preferred network type> lte or 3g only, the solution is go to *#*#4636#*#* phone info>set preferred network type>gsm only( this will put your device into 2g mode)
hope this work
So my htc one works perfectly well but i notice that when i'm in an area that has no signal and go back to an area where there is signal,i feel that it doesn't look for signal cause it still says "no signal". So what i do is turn airplane mode on then off for it to refresh the signal back.

That happened to me for the first two weeks or so that I had service with t-mobile, then it just went away... How long have you had yours?
Its the 3rd day that i've been using the phone now. Came from Taiwan.
I firm currently have an Airave due to almost no service at home.
I am s-off running Viper 321.
the Airave isn't connecting, and Sprint says I have to turn off LTE to get it to connect. And that really hasn't done anything.
Anyone have a solution to this? Or is there additional info you need?
Update profile and prl at home connected to Wi-Fi? Also got may need a new airave
Did you try resetting the airave by pushing the button on the back?

Having an Airave for work, and the M8, it should just work. Best to look at the lights and ensure that the Airave has Internet connection, GPS signal lock, etc.
Might offer a piece of advise, why not use WIFI calling that is build into the M8 KK ROM instead of the airave? That is what I have been doing at work, even through I have the Airave...

Talked to sprint and they claim I have to turn off LTE for the Airave to work. That's just crazy.
Not caring much for the wifi calling. Eats the battery.

I found the opposite to be true with my phone, wifi calling seemed to save battery life, didn't have to constantly search for signal or if weak signal have to run the radio at higher power sucking battery power.
Maybe this all will change once Lollipop comes out? But who knows how long that will be...
