[Q] Recovery auto revert - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my n7000 and flashed PA 3.99 RC2, everything working fine except external sdcard cannot be mounted.
So then I tried to update my CWMR from 6.0.3.7 to 6.0.4.3. The flashing process success, but it revert back to 6.0.3.7 on reboot. PLEASE HELP

If you used rom manager to update, it will not work as note has it incuded in kernel. You will need to install a different kernel to update the recovery.

[Q] SPH-P100: Sprint Galaxy Tab - Recovery broken after flashing ICS

My bother works for best buy and they have an old galaxy tab that has been in the back for months. He was asked to take it home and put honeycomb or higer on the device...
we started with odin Stock GB Prerooted w/ CWM Recovery. Recovery works fine on GB. Flashed file system converter and loaded GB backup, flashed Alpha ICS and CDMA kernel and after that we cant get recovery to boot. We have reverted to GB and reflashed CWM and ICS and are still having issues. Wifi is broken (i know this is fixed) but we cant get back into recovery to flash wifi patch. I spent some time in the ICS thread but i couldn't find the same issue.
Suggestions? Bad download?!
Is there a Odin CWM Recovery package for ICS?

I'm kind of a noob but maybe upgrading CWM 4.0.1.5 to CWM 5.0.2.7 would help. I have CWM 5.5.0.4 but I don't remember where I got it from.

I'll try this first chance i get. Thanks!

5.5.0.4 comes from Jt's ICS on rootzwiki.. it installs the update from 5.0.2.7 to 5.5.0.4.

JB, GB - Anytype of CWM (except 3.0.0.5) is not working

Hi All!
I try to find out what causes this weird problem I've had with CWM Recovery, but I couldn't find solution anywhere.
So, the problem is the following:
When I use ICS, JB custom ROMs with my Galaxy S I9000, I always loose CWM recovery. The only stable point is GB 2.3.6 ROM with recovery version 3.0.0.5 with CF-root.
After flash and start the phone in general all the kernels of Semaphore, Devil, Glitch, and so on...just blinks their logo for a second during the boot process, after that it shows blank screen. After waiting a while I can use the phone normally, everything works, but the CWM.
I couldn't reach CWM recovery neither the 3-button mode nor ADB.
I flashed back to stock rom (Valuepack JVU), root it with CF-root (4.3), and I get back CWM 3.0.0.5 in GB 2.3.6 which works perfectly.
But, if I flash the same ROM with the appropriate (e.g. Semaphore) kernel with Odin, I cannot enter CWM recovery anymore.
I've tried FixRecovery.tar. It didn't help.
Now I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776738 this ROM, but the 3-button recovery is not working too. so I can't make Nandbackup.
Does anyone know what causes this problem?
Thanks in advance,

I faced a similar problem yesterday.
First of all go back to CWM, wipe cache and dalvik, then go to mounts and storage and mount system, sd card, preload, cache, sd-ext, don't touch emmc.
After that go to ADVANCED and fix permissions. Then wipe cache and dalvik again.
It worked for me.
Let me know the results.

You are flashing a JB kernel on an ICS rom. That is why you get stuck. What you can actually do is the following:
- Put PA in your sdcard (internal or external)
- Reflash Philz Kernel and go to advance and reboot recovery (not device)
- From that touch recovery flash PA and GAPPS.
If not, find Philz file for your build version and everything will be just fine.
yes you're flashing jb kernel on ics. please read the instructions on the kernel thread before you flash it.

LiquidSmooth to Cynaogen resulted in bootloop

I had installed LiquidSmooth ROM on my Samsung Galaxy Note GTN7000 a while ago. I run Philz Touch recovery version 6.0.0.1 .
When I tried flashing CM11 , I got an error something like set_metadata_recursive .. .
I googled it up, and found that I need to update my recovery. SO, i downloaded the latest version of CWM from their website and tried flashing it through the recovery. And it is resulting in a sudden shut down and then in a bootloop when switching on .
What wrong am I doing? How can I rectify this?
Flash Raw Kernek r5:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397000
On our device the recovery is incorporated into the kernel, never flash a recovery or kernel that isn't meant for our device.
Once you have flashed that, reboot to recovery and perform a full wipe. Then proceed with the installation of CM.

i9000 boots only to recovery

Hello,
I had Cyanogenfortomorrow 1.4 based on CM7 on my i9000.
prepared to install mackary rom, did as the guide said... updated first to CM9 then to the rom which is based on CM11.
since then my device is stuck in recovery, I boot it and goes back to recovery even after installing several other roms and kernels.
I've searched everyone and tried all of the following from the guides..
I have tried installing:
Semaphore
i9000 boot.tar - bootloader
Gingerbread rom through Odin
CM 7 again
CM 9
CF root
I have deleted everything known
dalvik cache data wipes repartitioned even deleted EFS and installed another generic one
still booting to recovery only, the only thing changed is the type of recovery... semaphore TWRP CM.
what am I missing?
Solved
Installed stock JVU rom using odin + repartition
then used CF root kernel
