i9000 boots only to recovery  - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I had Cyanogenfortomorrow 1.4 based on CM7 on my i9000.
prepared to install mackary rom, did as the guide said... updated first to CM9 then to the rom which is based on CM11.
since then my device is stuck in recovery, I boot it and goes back to recovery even after installing several other roms and kernels.
I've searched everyone and tried all of the following from the guides..
I have tried installing:
Semaphore
i9000 boot.tar - bootloader
Gingerbread rom through Odin
CM 7 again
CM 9
CF root
I have deleted everything known
dalvik cache data wipes repartitioned even deleted EFS and installed another generic one
still booting to recovery only, the only thing changed is the type of recovery... semaphore TWRP CM.
what am I missing?

Solved
Installed stock JVU rom using odin + repartition
then used CF root kernel

Flashing from one custom firmware to another

Hello guys,
actually I've darkysrom with darky kernel on my SGS but I want to change to another custom firmware, mainly because of ICS.
Can I flash the new cfw just by using clockworkmod? Because I remember that there was something concerning the kernel which was important before flashing to another cfw.
Do I have to disable the lagfix before flashing?
Yes you must disable lagfix to avoid problems with the new kernel.

Do I have to seperately flash another kernel or is that been done by flashing the cfw?
Disable lagfix, wipe (data, cache, daliv cache), Flash ROM via CWM, flash new kernel. If it gives you bootloop go to CWM and flash kernel again. It should work ;-)
Hi,
i tried to flash slim ics but something wrong happened. first i opened clockwork recovery and wiped everything. after that i tried to install from zip and choosed the base file of ics slim rom but there came a message which said that the installation was aborted. then i've read in the tutorial that one has to format the system but it still didnt work.
now the phone doesnt boot anymore but i can get to clockwork recovery. i recognized that it is a modificated version from darky with the name "cwm darkycore recovery" or something like that.
can someone please help?
EDIT:
ok the phone is back alive. i flashed darkyrom with odin.
but i guess the same will happen if i try to flash slim ics again so there must be another way right?
EDIT2:
i got it. just installed the cm9 with cwm darky core recovery and after that installed slim ics.
if you've got to the trouble of odin-flashing the darkyrom back ,why didnt you just flash something else ?

problem flashing cm7

hi,
i tried to flash the latets stable cm7 rom today.
my phone showed the cyanogenmod logo but than started rebooting. i tried to go back to stock via odin but accidently flashed only a kernel (semaphore) and my recovery menu was messed up afterwards.
i fixed my mistake and installed stock rom, than the semaphore kernel and reflashed clockworkmod recovery.
i downloaded an miui rom and tried to install it but it showed me again the cyanogenmod logo (even though i erased the file) and started rebooting again.
is there a way to install the miui rom or any other rom without recovery - maybe only via odin
thanks for your help
Hi
Remove SD card
Enter o install new CWM with Odin
Make three wipes Data Cache Y Dalvik and in mount/storage.....format system
Install rom from SD Card
Did you enabled the USB debugging mode or rooted your phone post using Odin.

i think usb debugging was off.
i dont know how to install cwm with odin. do i need to insert the file to the pda and flash like you flash a kernel?
edit: the kernel i flashed on my device came with cwm, so is it ok or do i need to reflash cwm seperatelly?
anyone?

JB, GB - Anytype of CWM (except 3.0.0.5) is not working

Hi All!
I try to find out what causes this weird problem I've had with CWM Recovery, but I couldn't find solution anywhere.
So, the problem is the following:
When I use ICS, JB custom ROMs with my Galaxy S I9000, I always loose CWM recovery. The only stable point is GB 2.3.6 ROM with recovery version 3.0.0.5 with CF-root.
After flash and start the phone in general all the kernels of Semaphore, Devil, Glitch, and so on...just blinks their logo for a second during the boot process, after that it shows blank screen. After waiting a while I can use the phone normally, everything works, but the CWM.
I couldn't reach CWM recovery neither the 3-button mode nor ADB.
I flashed back to stock rom (Valuepack JVU), root it with CF-root (4.3), and I get back CWM 3.0.0.5 in GB 2.3.6 which works perfectly.
But, if I flash the same ROM with the appropriate (e.g. Semaphore) kernel with Odin, I cannot enter CWM recovery anymore.
I've tried FixRecovery.tar. It didn't help.
Now I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776738 this ROM, but the 3-button recovery is not working too. so I can't make Nandbackup.
Does anyone know what causes this problem?
Thanks in advance,
adr

From 4.0.4. Stock to CM10

Hello world,
i need help.
i got the P7310 16 GB. my Tab is a US-refurbished unit sold in the UK.
I tried to upgrade from my stock 4.0.4. (got it via KIES for 2 months now) to CM10 (latest build, here in this forum). installed the latest cwm 5.5.0.4, I did the root, installed superuser, got the root permission. restarted. wiped cache, did the factory/data reset. installed CM10 build in cwm, than the googleapps for 4.1.2. RESTART: after the GalaxyTab 8.9 writing disappeared my screen stays black. for more than 20 minutes.
the last day i tried almost everything. wiped dalvik cache, diffrent procedures. tried different kernels (with a1 kernel 1.7.2 i got the bootscreen of CM10, but it was frozen. and i was not able to reproduce it). i also tried AOSP ROM, but it showed the same issues.
BUT: a stock based ROM from this forum based on ICS worked flawlessly
maybe it got something like a bootloader lock? well, now i got the stock 4.0.4. again (took the UK Version for P7310) and used a PIT file to repartion the whole tab and get a 100% clean installation, with root & a1 1.7.2 Kernel & cwm 5.5.0.4
What should I try next?

Try it to install with cwm 6.0.0.8
http://www.mediafire.com/?b2pbv065k51zqy6
Install this recovery in the cwm 5.5.0.4 and after that go to advanced---> reboot recovery and install the rom with the new cwm 6.0.0.8

[Q] Recovery auto revert

I rooted my n7000 and flashed PA 3.99 RC2, everything working fine except external sdcard cannot be mounted.
So then I tried to update my CWMR from 6.0.3.7 to 6.0.4.3. The flashing process success, but it revert back to 6.0.3.7 on reboot. PLEASE HELP
If you used rom manager to update, it will not work as note has it incuded in kernel. You will need to install a different kernel to update the recovery.
