[Q] Strange object on the camera surface. - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is my first post here so hello everyone. I've got Htc one from 4 month now and few days ago I noticed a strange object on every photo maked by main camera. I will add an photo to post so all of you can check it. I don't know what it is and where it came from but it is probably some micro dust on camera surface. I've checked the pictures maked week+ ago and everything is normal so this thing appear in very early past. My question is does anyone of you have something like that in past? I really take care of my phone, always in original suitcase. Second question how I can take this thing out? Service? Do you know any in Germany? Thank you for answers and sorry for my English

I have been in this community for quite some time and i haven't seen this issue before.
But is seems to be a small issue only. Try cleaning the lens with a soft cloth and if it doesn't go away take it to the service center. I don't think it should take them more than half an hour to clean and return.
While you are at at, you may aswell ask them to clean it completely for dust particles, and detect any air gaps, because if one can go in, so can others.
Its better you get these things fixed as early as possible before any larger particles go in.
All the best

Thank you for answer, well I also think that this is a small issue but phone is on guarantee and I'll must probably send it to the service :/ so half hour repair is impossible -
Bad for me. The dust particle is inside the camera and cleaning didn't helped. I'm asking about service because all of us known that htc one is very hard to repair etc. In a few days is send by phone to service provider and I'll see what they do.

HTC HD2 (Leo) Screens...

Hi,
I've gone and stupidly sat on my phone and now the LCD screen has a dark patch in the middle of it..
I've tried gently rubbing which reduces the patch temporarily and also heating up with a hairdryer completely removes the patch, but also temporarily...
I think final solution is to tear down and replace the screen, does anyone have any suggestions on where I can purchase a replacement screen? Or where I can obtain one at all?
Thanks a lot

I think you should send it to HTC for repair... might cost more than trying to repair it yourself, but trying to repair it yourself could lead to disaster if you don't know what you're doing. Much better to have a professional repair it.
I have exactly the same problem :-O
Have been looking around here and i believe this is the same problem as we have, He fixed it with a sucktion cup so may as well try that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462102&page=13&=#122
Thanks for the link mate. I will try the suction cup idea also and see if it works.
I have called HTC to find out about repair, they said (I'm in the UK), that they will send UPS to come collect and then they will give me a quote, it can take about 5 days to repair if I agree with the quote and £20 to send back to me... But they couldn't give me a better idea on price, although he said because the phone is new it would likely cost "a bit"...
I'll look for a couple more days for alternatives to fixing then it could be heading off to HTC
well the suction cup didn't work for me, tried to use a hoover as well .... all starting to sound rather kinky.
Will be sending off to HTC instead now. Thanks a lot anyway.
Get insurance and get a new one. Or get it fixed.
Same problem. Looks like nobody is selling replacemet parts for leo yet I've manage to find digitizer, but not complete with lcd screen. Is the phone too new maybe? Hopefully someone will start selling parts soon..
there are screens for sale , i think it's about 50 usd or thereabouts. You might want o search around i didn't save the link.
Today I found one by accident
http://4u-kidi.com/info.php?itno=5460
Nope, that's still only the digitizer/ touch screen not the actual LCD screen which displays the picture
i guess you mean the tft lcd screen.

I did the same thing Xmas day and I ended up with a patch in the middle just like the photo I've seen in the thread linked earlier in this thread
after the initial shock thinking I'd broke it already, on closer inspection it looked as if I'd squeezed the liquid out of it so I thought why not squeeze it back?
all I did was press from the outside of the screen using 2 fingers either side of the spot and then quite firmly squeeze towards the spot. I did this in a circular motion around the spot thus forcing the liquid back into the centre. Eventually it was OK after a few directed squeezes and it had completely vanished so imagine my relief
probably a bit late now, gently rubbing as the original poster didn't work for me as that's what I did initially. Eventually I was brave and used some force but not enough to create more spots, just enough to force the spots away again and fixed it completely

Sounds like its going to be sent off to HTC Taiwan then... if the postage is £20

I hate dust!!

So after looking at my phone last night under dim light I noticed something... dust in the screen, no big deal... that was until i noticed it was UNDERNEATH the freaking screen!
Of course nothing I tried can get it loose, I already sent an email to HTC regarding the issue so now I play the waiting game. I've had htc's for years now (mogul, touch pro, touch pro 2) and this is the only time I remember having this problem (I am ocd about my phones, they must look like they are new, always )
Has anyone else out there had this problem? The phone is not even a month old! And I can't stand seeing that crap there, always ruining whatever i'm looking at
Please offer any solutions! I have a friend who works for tmobile so i'll be asking him later when I see him but I also need xda forum input
I had that with one replacement HD7. When I got my HD7 I actually went through 4 of them to get one without faults. The first one had reception problems. The second one had patches of dead pixels al over the screen. The third had particulates under the screen. I finally went to a different store and received a perfect one.
I might mention, in case it has an impact on it, wipe the display from side to side gently. Don't wipe from top to bottom or bottom to top. I have an idea duct and particulates are able to channel under the screen from the little mesh grill areas at the top and bottom.
I thought it would be from these too as they all seem to have came in form the mesh grille on top, I'm going to the t-mobile store in a bit and see what they can do with it.
No impacts here at all, I have an otterbox case on it too... so much to have a nasty little lint thing get stuck on the inside!!
Now all I see is that thing on there, it makes me so mad
The only problem i had with dust was on the freaking speakers and i can't get them out no matter how hard i try
I had dust on my htc desire, thought it was a htc specific problem until I saw my mates iPhone!
UIpdate:
HTC emailed me saying "we apologize for this, please contact our service center M-F regarding this issue"
We'll see what happens when I call them tomorrow... I expect a WARRANTY repair!

Simple fix for that.
I use a lens cloth and eye glasses cleaner. Wet the cloth a bit and fold it into and edge and clean the speakers. Takes all the dust out of mine. Looks brand new!
Finally spoke with HTC repair center today, good news is they will look at my phone... bad news is I have to pay to ship it to them and apart from that I gotta be HD7 less for 6 to 10business days!!
Well just the thought of that crap no longer being underneath my screen is good enough to think about those 10 days going by quickly

[Q] Dust in front camera...

Ok I've been everywhere and tried everything short of breaking out the torx. I'm not under warranty anymore, and of course it didn't start getting dusty until after it ran out.
if i take the back cover off and blow compressed air in the slot by the main camera it clears most of it out but it's all back within days. i'm only getting dust in the front camera area, none in the screen itself that I've found [I've taken it out in direct sun with no screen protector and scrutinized it].
I'm wondering if maybe the screws on the motherboard are loose or something creating a gap, I've dropped it a fair share of times. I can find teardowns for replacing the screen but nothing specific on the front camera, and being a nervous nelly i want all the info i can get my greedy hands on. I *think* i know where the parts are but cant find anything specifically saying "THIS IS THE CAMERA NEWB". I'm perfectly willing to take the case apart and the board out but i don't want to touch the glass, i'd probably get more dust in than out.
So to summarize my request =p
1. Anyone know of camera specific teardowns?
2. Anyone have this problem themselves and fix it?
3. If it does involve taking the glass off would it be worth it to pay someone to fix it, or is it more cost effective to just upgrade?
Hey, lucky you I just cleaned it myself. At the price of almost screwing up my incs forever. Look up YouTube on dismantling the incredible s, take it all apart, clean it from behind and fix it back. Had some loose connection when I was fixing it back so my screen couldnt light. Now its as good as new. Advice that if you try, be very very precise and careful. Good luck!
Screen is seperated from camera, don't worry about getting dust in there. Use the replacing screen video, sufficient information for you to tear it up. No video guides to fixing it back unfortunately, so just download the video, find a player with the reverse play function and do as according(nahh I'm just kidding)
You don't need to be a technician to do this. No brains required. I don't have any. Have fun!
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda app-developers app
I "had" dust over front camera too!!!
I didn't mind it; I'm talking in paste tense because my phone should be now in HTC's repair centre in Como with:
-dust under the screen ( top left area)
-but mostly because part of the digitizer is gone: a vertical row of about 1cm on the right...
So I think it's a common problem, pay attention on the screen...

[Q] Black dot in every photo I shoot

Hello, I've bought an unlocked HTC One in France at the end of May.
Since about a week from today, I've been noticing a weird black dot in every photo I shoot. This dot wasnt on my pictures till last week...
I already cleaned and checked the camera lens to see if it had dirt or dust on it, and couldn't find anything.
Since it doesnt seem to be anything related to dust or dirt, could it be a problem with the camera module that only appeared now?
Attached to this message is a photo of my wall, just to show the black dot on it.
I also recorded a video, available at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14436725/ZOE_0044.mp4, which shows how the dot looks in movement.
What can I do to solve this problem?
Thx for the help in advance,
Renato
worst case: the dot is dirt on camera sensor.
you can always try to flash another rom (stock or custom, whatever) to see if the dot is still there. If it is, my advice is you need to take your One to the service and claim an exchange under warranty
I've tried to change the rom, go back to stock, factory reset, tried to shake the phone up and down, and the dot stays there, in the same spot.
I think it's hardware, not software. The worst part in all of this? I live in Brazil, and HTC doesn't even have an office here. That means I can't take the phone to service and can't exchange it with my warranty.
That being said, besides all the solutions above, is there hope for me, or will I have to buy another phon?
I have exactly the same on my work phone - iPhone 5 . It's a piece of dust that is actually visible when looking at the camera lens

with your description, I'm very sorry to tell you that problem is highly a hardware defect. It's not that serious though, maybe just the lack of quality control during the phone assembly process that caused minor dirt pass through the casing and got on the camera lense/sensor. I believe there isn't an easy way to get rid of the dirt without tearing the phone. However, you can try this: use a hair dryer or something similar that can blow strong air then try to force the dirt out of position by blowing to the phone but remember, don't use the hair dryer on your phone for a long time. A vacuum cleaner can also do the trick
That's terrible. But do you think that it's a problem in the assembly, even though this problem only appeared after like 2 weeks of use?
Will try the hair dryer, though. Tks a lot for the advices.
Mostly due to low quality of assembly that caused tiny gap on the casing (corners, camera...). That can lead to dirt getting inside after a period time of use. Many iphone4,4s and 5 users report the same problem as yours
I had the same exact thing 50 days into owning this phone.
Had it warranty replaced through T-Mobile no problem.
Thx, you guys. Looks like Im out of luck, then, since I bought mine abroad (france) and HTC doesn't have any kind of support in Brazil.
Sob :'(
That sucks.
But at least it isn't as noticeable as mine was.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2321573
Yeah. The spot on yours looks a lot like mine.
I'll try to get a new one and sell mine here in Brazil. This phone is so overcharged here that I might even make a profit out of it (even if I mention the dirt on the camera in my ad).

Note 9 Problems after replacing rear camera

Ok, so I am a serial note 9 breaker. This is my 8th one since they came out. Mostly I'm a klutz and I drop them, although I have had a couple stolen and a couple sent to me that were already defective before I could break them myself. The latest one.... I broke the little piece of glass on the rear facing camera. So I ordered that, and replaced it but in between the time I broke it and when I received the piece of glass the lens must have gotten damaged because the thing wouldn't focus on anything even somewhat close up. (I have a business reselling and take pics daily so this was a major issue) So, I decide to get a whole new rear camera and replace that. Which I did earlier today. I watched videos, and carefully completed each step. Twice. I know I put it all together correctly... took all the pieces of protective plastic off... didnt touch the lens.. I was very careful. But now when I turn it on and go to the camera app I have a black screen and it won't let me select any of the modes.. won't let me take a pic, won't let me touch the photo replay button.. it freezes and I have to close it out through the recent apps to be able to exit. I have reset the camera, wiped the cache and data, gone in to all the dang settings and did everything I can think to do.. I did a partition wipe... I'm stuck and about to go all Office Space on this damn thing and smash it to bits in the middle of nowhere while listening to gangster rap. And I really don't want to do that as I need my phone for my business. Someone please help? Did I miss anything.. is it possibly a bad part? I just don't know what to do from this point. Please and thank you

My bet would be on one or both cameras being non functional.
Had the same problem, broke the camera glass on the right camera. wile waiting for the glass i covered it with tape, just the glass hole on the right camera. Just this tape over 1 of the cameras made it non possible to use the left camera at all, black all the time but the camera app wasn't behaving like yours.. Looks like it need both cameras working together.
Have you put back the old module to see if the focus problem remains but at least the camera app working?
