[Q] Confused. - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wanna ask a couple question,
I have rooted my xperia sp c5303 using the DoomLord method and also flashed the cwm but i keep bootloader lock.
My question is
1. When sony release firmware update for my phone, can i update it normally (using pc companion) or i should update using flash tools?
2. If I unlock my boot loader how can I relock it and put it back to factory conditions? It is possible?
3. If i install trwp what is going to happen to cwm that i already have? There any risk? Cause i heard twrp is batter, simpler and user friendly.
Im new to android, i got to many questions in my mind.
Sorry for my bad english.
Thank You:fingers-crossed:

[Q] Downgrading on locked bootloader

Hi guys!
I have searched the forum and I DO have got a lot of answers. But still I want to get some things clear before I go on.
I just got myself an Xperia Z. It was already updated to 4.3 .569. The phone has a locked bootloader and I found out that it CAN´T be unlocked. So there I´m stuck.
I was first thinking about following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2590088
But then I got some more questions.
If I downgrade according to that guide... since I get a custom recovery, can I flash any custom ROM that is made for locked bootloader? Do I even have to use the 4.3 .569 used in the thread above or can I just downgrade and root then choose the ROM to my liking?
Thanx for all your help!
Downgrading
Dear friend:
1-the easy way::laugh:
2-Flash 4.2.2 with flash tool
3-Root on locked boot loader
4- Install Dual Recovery follow
5- Install 4.3/4.2 Pre-rooted or any other rom of your choice.
Once you've downgraded, rooted and have a custom recovery, you can use any rom you like, as long as it's a stock based rom for locked bootloaders.
You cannot flash anything based on CM/PAC/AOSP/AOKP etc as they require a custom kernel and therefore an unlocked bootloader.

[Q] Official Update 4.3 with ck/ub/root/cwm-twrp dual-boot

Hello community,
this is my first post here so i hope, i do it right
Please excuse my english, it is not perfect.
I have a xperia z with Android 4.2.2 (10.3.A.0.423) . The bootloader is unlocked, cwm/twrp dualboot is installed, also the doomlord customkernel v19 is in use, root-access is available.
Is it possible to update to official stock firmware 4.3 (10.4.1.B.0.101) using the PC-Companion without bricking my phone? Root-Access and cwm and so on would be lost as i assume. This would be ok for me.
I really would like to do it that way. I think, as an alternative, i could flash the 4.3 stock rom using cwm? Going this way, will my data and all settings be lost?
Updating via OTA is not a good idea i think.
Thanks for advise
Greetings
ShellingFord
Well, you cannot update via PC companion, Sony Update Service or OTA, as your bootloader is unlocked.
So, that leaves updating via Flashtool or flashing a prerooted rom from the development section.
The cleanest way would be via Flashtool, then simply flash a custom kernel again and root.

And if im going to flash the stock-kernel which belongs my current firmware and then relock the bootloader?
If the bootloader is relocked, i can't flash a kernel or something else anymore right?
EDIT: If I decide to flash a rom will my data be lost or is it like im doing an normal update?
Is it possible to go back to stock with everything?
So much questions Sorry, I don't know that much, please help
Can anyone help?
Yes, if you relock the bootloader, you should be able to update via the normal methods (at least via PC companion, unsure about OTA). A locked bootloader means you cannot use custom kernels.
If you flash with Flashtool, you can choose not to wipe your data.

I assume, it would be the best to flash the original kernel before i lock the bootloader?
After relocking the bootloader and installing the update via PC-Companion, will the kernel be the "original" kernel and will cwm/twrp be still there or not?
Yes, flash a stock kernel before locking the bootloader. If you don't, you will soft brick your phone.
After updating, you will have a stock kernel and your custom recovery will be gone as well as root.

So everything worked fine. I relocked the bootloader via flashtool and installed the firmware using PC-Companion. My Xperia Z is now totally "stocked"
Thank you very much for your help
You're welcome. Glad to help.

[Q] Locked bootloader , can i downgrade to root.

i recently bought a bell xperia z1, went on to the sony website to unlock bootloader to find that mine is locked, unlike the international version which has an unlockable bootloader.
ive updated it to see if the updates would unlock the bootloader but alas they did not, now im running :
model c6906
android 4.3
build 14.2.A.0.209
Main question :
Will i be able to downgrade and bypass the bootloader?
ive rooted a S2/Htc HD/ Desire Z in the past im just worrying about bricking my phone that ive had for less then a week.
and all other guides ive seen are for different versions, ive heard of flashing the 6903 stuff but that makes me worry way to much.
so pretty much want to know is it possible to do via downgrade to achieve root or should i just wait till a safer method becomes available.
sony bloatware is annoying
Yes, you can get C6906 Rooted with Locked Bootlader. First you have Read a bit more about it, starting with this thread and also watch the Video Tutorial.
You have to use Flashtool v0.9.15 to downgrade to .534 using Rogers FTF for your model from here.
When you are on 4.2.2 FW .534 Root it with Bin4ry Method, then Install Dualrecovery, SuperSU and Upgrade to your favorite latest Android Pre-Rooted, like KitKat Here or JB 4.3 Here.
Done.
Good Luck!
you sir are the man, followed the video and got root, now to find a rom to use.
edit : went to install a rom + gapps and had to do the whole process over again. right from flashing nuts custom. got stuck in a sony logo boot loop. zz
so attempt #2 with a different rom.
edit 2: was able to update to 4.4 kitkat so now i hope i can update my rom. since i was trying to do a 4.4 rom on the 4.3 firmware ?
edit3: nope stuck on sony logo so went back to nuts again... hrmm well atleast i could upate to 4.4 going to try boot to cwm and see if that works
Before I flashed mine I was reading for weeks, You did in few hours and I think to quickly. If the phone stuck in Boot logo, I think you did something wrong but I don't have the phone with me so I cannot tell.
Now you have to go back to stock, keep pushing Volume UP and Power, 3 vibrations, phone in off, keep pushing volume down and connect to pc in flashmode, flash a Stock FTF for your model from the link I give you. Now you phone should boot. Repeat the process to get Root and be careful.
Remember to Wipe Data, Appslog, Cache, every time you flash a Fresh Installation is recommended.

You should not connect the phone to the PC until the PC prompts you after flashtool has prepared the files for flashing

4.4 will need a 4.4 kernel.

Ok, that is why I saw in Flashtool Disconnect and Connect my device few times but never had a problem. Good to know.
i was able to go back and use flash tool to flash nut's ftf
so im on 4.4 kitkat rooted which is good.
but when i flash any custom rom trough any recovery it boot loops im guessing its because locked bootloader.
so im guessing any rom i want to flash has to have 2 parts. The flashing process in recovery and the flashtool flash firmware for that rom.
unless like you said update my kernal

[Q] Xperia SP CM11 install guide without unlocking bootloader

Because I saw today that Xperia SP won't get official KitKat from Sony, I want to install latest CM11 because I want to use full potential of my phone and because I simply like Vanilla Android experience. I bought my phone on contract and I can't unlock bootloader. I need full guide from beggining to end how to install CM11. My firmware is 12.1.A.1.205 and I need full guide from rooting, installing cmw and finally booting CM11.
Thanks in advance,
your brx1997.
p.s.
also I would need links for any 3rd party program that should be used
(I CHECKED MY PHONE AND MY BOOTLOADER CAN'T BE UNLOCKED).

Need your help with noob Sony guides....

Guys i got a hold of a Sony Z1 device C6903 running 4.4.2 (my first ever Sony) and i need to do do 3 things on the device, hopefully you can suggest the easiest methods possible as there is just too many different guides and i don't know which is current or working...
1) Need to root the device - what with and how? do i need to change firmware?
2) do i need to unlock the bootloadder?
3) what is the latest stock firmware?
4) what is the latest and most suggested custom rom?
5) apparently i need to save some keys to receive official ota?
6) custom recovery? - what is working and available?
your help will be greatly appreciated
I really need some help, i have mastered samsung and htc but sony is driving me up the wall!
i installed twrp but i cannot get into recovery? how on on earth can i enter recovery using the hardware keys?
You can easily root all of the firmwares now adays but unlocking bootloader will make the phone camera worse and you will lose some Sony features. Back up TA when unlocking bootloader so if you want to go back to fully stock. The best recovery for this phone is twrp they even have 3.0.0 for it I think. Do some research around the z1 forum you'll find everything you need
