Perhaps noob question, but i want to take a look at system files (button-backlight for instance) and play/edit them. But I don't have a clue how to do that.
I'm using root explorer and super manager.
I'm having root and am able to get adb shell (learned myself some adb commands
Thanks!

Youll like this Mod!!!!
Many of us keep on trying new roms every now and then and for that we know we have to always perform this "Pain In The A**" procedure of booting into recovery to make a BACKUP of our roms!!! . Which eats up a lot battery aswell. This mod will help you make a nandroid backup without booting into recovery.
I am not the developer of this MOD....I just helped the developer in making this mod compatible with our device. It works just fine. i have tested it myself. All credits goes to the developer himself.
Requirements:
1. Rooted android phone
2. A terminal emulator installed on phone
3. Latest version of Busybox
4. A working CWM based recovery installed ( Works even with the Temporary one)
5. Some patience
Installation:
1. Download and copy zip file to SD card
2. Reboot into recovery
3. Choose install zip from SD card, select zip and flash
4. Reboot
How to back up:
1. Open terminal emulator
2. Type su to obtain root
3. Type onandroid
4. Wait till it notifies you that the backup has been done :good:
5. You can restore it from the CWM recovery as you have always done.

I thought it was not possible to make a backup of an os if that os is running. That's like trying to change the wheel of your car while driving your car

This is from the same dev. Dont need an app. When youll use that app...it will notify that a file isnt found. Youll get the file at the above mentioned thread.

It can also be done by Android Toolbox Pro
Its an amazing software
But its for windows
But you can do amazing things on it
That's strange, I had it installed normally a while ago from the official thread (only used it once, but it worked if I remember correctly).
What exactly is the difference between this & the official one?

As i said i am not the developer...just wanted to share this mod in our forum as it supports. Does it vibrates when the back up is finished? (The script from ameer's thread) . I think it has a add-on of vibration and led lights blinking as and when the backup is finished. ( We Dont have an Led light...(obvious) so that wont work.) I never ran the original script so i have no idea about the vibration thing at the end. This one does vibrate.

I did the onandroid backup with the files installed from the original thread.
2 remarks:
1) you need to install the extra zip file for s5830i referred to with a link in the thread otherwise you will get the error message that your boot partition is not found
2) while making the backup in the background it's better not to stress your phone to much otherwise you will get an automic reboot during the backup process even when the min frequency is set higher than 156 mhz. So I'm not sure if this will work if you will get an incoming call during this backup process

It will backup your rom as you do from CWM recovery. For fat32, copy paste that into your computer.

Hi guys, Im not used to Xperia modding as it seems alot diffrent compared to other devices. Can someone explain to me whay odex and deodex is? ( if that how there spelt) also what are the bennifits compared to one another. Thanks
Sent from my C5303 using xda app-developers app
Odex is how stock firmware ships
Deodex is the same thing with no ".odex" files, this makes you able to use modified system files, so it allows you to use themes
Odex files are basically cache files that make your phone load faster for the first time, but if there are no odex files Android creates a replacement for them so there is no lost performance
This is not exclusive to Xperia, many devices have these files

I've tried a couple of different ways and even tried changing permissions in root explorer but I cannot seem to delete the Renovate file this was a ROM I had a few months ago, I only noticed it was taking up a good bit of space so went to delete but it won't allow me do so.
Surely there has to be a way to delete this file, any ideas?

There's no option in TWRP to allow me to delete this file you cannot delete individual files while in recovery (unless I'm missing something)
There's gotta be a way to delete this , taking up unnecessary space.
