Ive looked around and havent found anyone talking about it so i figured id throw it out there. Has any developer tried the way they unlocked the Atrix HDs BL. Since im a newer user i cant post the URL but its found in the HDs developing thread under How to unlock the Bootloader.
I know the HD has the S4 chip set so i didnt know if that is completely different to the S4 Pro. I also dont know if its different build for both ATT and Verizon.
If anyone knows or willing to try anything about the HD method it would be nice to know.
Moto X stock rooted 4.2.2 (Daily Driver)
Atrix 2 unlocked for Tmobile (Gave to Wife)
BMM S1 Stock root
S3 PA 3.99
Samsung Captivate slimROM 4.3 (Backup)
Almost positive it won't work. Motorola patched that exploit for the RAZR M and HD long before the X ever came out, so I can't see them leaving that open in the X.

Hi,
I came across the following link from XDA blog::
Bootloader Unlock for the Atrix HD, Razr HD, and Razr M
I want to know whether its possible to unlock the phone using information given in above post.
I have Motorola Atrix HD with 4.1.1
Thanks!
OP no need for Two threads on the same issue....
Well first of all i would like to say hello to this wonderful community, I've been following threads and news on XDA for many years, since I got my Galaxy Spica, and I wanted to learn a bit more and become more active, especially in this "new world" that Motorola means to me, since the Moto X is the first device I own that is different from the Galaxy series... but well, nowdays I own an Latinamerican variant of the X, the XT1058 that came with the America Movil 4.2.2 ROM, and yesterday I just spend like 5 hours trying to flash the AT&T 4.4 Kitkat variant into it... until I Succeded, but i just has TOO MANY BLOAT , so I was wondering if it is posible to flash through RSDLite the T-Mobile 4.4 without Bricking the X... I have seen ppl XT053 ROMS on their XT1058, but I dont know what path should I follow...
1) Go back to 4.2.2 downgrading the bootloader and flashing a 4.2.2 rom and then upgrade to 4.4
2) Just flash over the AT&T ROM the TMO 4.4 one though RSDLite ?
I'm sorry if im asking things that may sound a bit noobish, but in Samsung phones everything was way too easy compared to this... it just took me hours to discove how to use the emulator in order to get the ID for the locked bootloader...
btw... also sorry for my english
thanks and greetings from Chile !!
Option number 2 - flash over the AT&T 4.4 with the tmobile 4.4 and it will work fine.

Thanks a lot ! =)
just bought a used lg g2 verizon version.
it says it is rooted on aokp 4.3 and has twrp installed.
Does that mean the bootloader is unlocked also?
Does that mean I can install any rom i want. 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4?
I'm coming from a SGS3.. so am very familiar with flashing roms on that device.
I'm trying to learn up on the lg g2. I see things mentioned like a work around for the bootloader? can anyone explain briefly to me the state of the lg g2 verizon version.
things like....
you have to root before ota or you can't get it. or if it is a fully unlocked bootloader or if work arounds allow us to achieve the same thing.
in the Q and A it seems more people are bricking devices than I'm used to seeing. Maybe its because the thread has all version of the lg g2 in it.
oh and the whole radio thing. 11a vs 12b. seems one needs to look at that before flashing some roms?
thanks!
The bootloader is not unlocked but they made a Loki patch like the s4 ... You can flash ROMs and kernels with it just the same so no worries ... Update your twrp if its out dated and flash away!! .. Just make sure to flash the right device ... These threads are not like the s3 threads but all combined ... Just read and you'll be alright

Please excuse if this has been beaten to death. I've spent the last hour reading and reading an I've just gotten confused. I was heavily into the Android world for quite a while but have been out of it for a couple years. I bought my son a Droid Mini which from what I understand is pretty much the same thing as a Moto X. In the settings menu it says Android Version 4.4 Kernal Version 3.4.42-gfae57e0. I just need to root it. I'm not concerned about flashing ROMs, just need root for an app that requires it. Is it possible or do I need to get a different phone? I must have a root. Again please excuse the noob question but I've gotten a headache trying to make heads or tales of it.

No it is not possible to root 4.4 however you have an option there is a guy in China selling bootlloader unlock codes I bought mine and unlocked there are several threads on this site so check it out. The other option is to return the phone and get one you can root or a dev model.

I guess I'll go that route then. I bought my second hand so returning isn't an option. Can you link me to a thread?
I feel so lost. My last Android two Androids were an EVO and a Droid OG, I feel so lost now. Had a ton of ROMs on those but wow things have changed.

What? 4.4 and lower can be rooted, 4.4.2 cannot.

Under Android version it says 4.4. But is also says no software updates are available.... Kernal version says 3.4.42 that makes a difference. Guess the question is do I have 4.4 or 4.4.2. If .2 is the latest it should show under updates correct? Or maybe not since it's a Mini and not an X?

Don't give this guy false hope without reading the OP. He does not have a moto x, He has a droid mini. The droid line cannot be downgraded from 4.4 to 4.2.2, thus his only option is to use the shady Chinese unlockers.

You should get your rooting advice from this area of the forums, it will more closly resemble the options you have available to your device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-ultra
VZW droid mini ,ultra, and maxx are all still on 4.4. They cannot be downgraded due to verizon locking the bootloader. You will get confused answers from the moto x owners, as they could downgrade from 4.4 to 4.2.2 and then keep root using some trickery.
While it is true that this trickery would work to on your droid mini if you hadnt yet updated to 4.4, there is no way to revert to 4.2.2 on your device. your best option getting an unlock code from a 3rd party (this voids your warranty)
consider if it is worth it to you
Good luck,
You can't root 4.4 the droid line doesn't have 4.4.2 yet so your on 4.4.
As for the guys being shady selling the code that is absolutely false. Many have bought the code they are very accommodating and helpful. As a matter of fact a few were not able to get the code for what ever reason and were refunded the money. As far as I'm concerned if you want root unlock the boot loader it ain't coming anytime soon.
And further questions should be asked in the ultra section the ultra maxx and mini are the same. The moto x is 99.9% the same but as you can see there are a few differences like they can downgrade 4.4.
As a matter of fact I'm typing this on my maxx running 4.4.2 ported from a moto x. That is what you can do with an unlocked boot loader.
It is possible! I am now the owner of a fully rooted Droid Mini XT1030 running stock 4.4. It took buying a code from the Chinese tab site and a whole lot of help from NWKENT. He should be nominated for some kind of an award. He took the time on a Sunday morning to talk me through it on the phone. He's a saint in my book.
I just bought a Moto X DE from Swappa to use on my T-Mobile and I have a couple of questions.
I'll be reading the forums so I'm sure I'll find many answers, but I know for some reason I'll just have a hard time finding some even if they are right in my face.
1) Is the 4.4.4 update out for it yet or so I need to unlock/recovery before I can get 4.4.4 I am only interested in AOSP/Google ROM's not CM, PA, or any of the others.
2) How, if at all is the DE ROM different? Or is it just the Bootloader being unlockable the only difference?
3) I am thinking of changing the White back out with a black one. I have seen the guide but my only worry is that the back may not be as tight after I do it due to having to release some of the glue. Will the back still be tight?
4) Anything else I may find interesting? Any Must know tips/tricks.

I have the DE on VZW
1) i'm not sure, but I beleive its out for Tmobile. You should not need to unlock or do anythign else as long as the device has stock OS and boot-loader
2) the roms are not different other than being designed for slightly different devices, even the Verizon Droid lines share a very similar rom with the X. That being said, do not flash any rom that is not designed for your specific build (xt1058, My DE is xt1060) Also, once you take an OTA, this device does not like to be downgraded, even tho its a DE, its not a nexus that you can just flash any OS version to.
3) I have not replaced a back yet, i cant answer this, but i would be interested in your findings, as i may replace my back some day.
4) Moto did a great job with the software on this device, The stock rom is great. Xposed is all that is needed to bring the look and feel of a custom rom.
Thanks, the only changes I plan to make is Root + maybe flash a kernel and OC the CPU to 1.9/2GHz and play with the DPI settings.
One thing, yes you do have to unlock the bootloader on the moto site. ?
I dont think 4.4.4 is out for tmobile yet. I have the gsm dev edition, haven't gotten it yet nor have i heard/seen anything about it. But it will come soon I hope!
As far as i know the only difference is the unlockable bootloader, ROM is the same otherwise.
If you're planning to root, check out xposed and gravity box.. that combo makes this phone super customizable and you don't need any custom roms ever!

Just got the device, it has 4.4.3. So it looks like I'll root before I get any farther.
