[Q] Charging my Z1 tips - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just an inquiry. I just got my sony xperia z1 last week and may I ask if its okay to charge it even if it's still 30% . And if it is okay to remove it from being charged when it is not yet 100% charged.
i read on some articles that the battery of my xperia should not be 100% charged because it can hasten the aging process of my bat.
any suggestions ? thanks! I just love Xperia so much. It's so awesome!

Xperia T - Battery Dead at 0% won't turn - won't charge

Hello XDAers,
Just got an Xperia T off eBay. Brand new and tried to turn on and no luck.
Put it in charge, then realize that it doesn't charge. It boots to android then shows 0% and turn itself off back to charging mode.
Anyone has experienced such thing? I know in past some other Sony phone had this issue but I cant find anything on Xperia T.
Is this something I can fix or should I return it back/?
Any help is appreciated.

I just don't understand why people insist on buying phones off ebay. You don't know where they have been, what's happened to them. If they are legal. Get your money back (if you can) and get one from a reputable source.

Highly appreciate your input and help, Seller is reputable and there is no good source here to buy this phone in the US. What was your suggestion again?

Since the new style batteries do not like being without charge, I suggest biting the bullet and charging it fo a full 24 hours....dont touch it all in that time and only after 24 hours see what it does. If it is still at 0% then its FUBAR'd
i've got the same problem with my old x10 and nothing to do with a normal charge, the only solution i found is to charge it manualy with a charger whose i cut the micro usb and put the red on + and black on - of the battery and it's done , but with the XT i don't know if it's possible

Buy a new battery with separate charger as they can recondition the battery when its out of the phone

xperia T does not have a removable battery so that may not be as easy as it sounds.

Thank you for this and Thank you again for putting all the info together Greg.
First off, I charged the battery for a longer time and it decided to charge out of the blue.
And second, the info you are organizing in one place has reduce the headache for many and you deserve few more thank you
Phone is working as usual.
Cheers,

In the test menu, there is info on factory charge, which isn't confirmed until 50% charged, I think if you completely flatten the battery that it will need 50% before attempting to start.

I keep coming back to these threads whenever my Experia T is acting up again. I finally bit the bullet and went the hardware way as described in a comment on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWox7kCygRE
"In the end I fixed this problem by removing the back cover (one screw in where the SIM card goes) and detaching the battery supply from the phone. After a minute or two I reattached the battery supply (its a little yellow tab beside where you plug in the charger) and put the cover back on, plugged into charger and it started charging as normal."
It's surprisingly simple, to be honest.

[Q] Sony Xperia Z charge time

How long does your Xperia Z takes to full charge the battery, from 1% to 100%?
Mine takes 2 hours, when turned off.
My last phone was an Xperia Arc. The charger was 750mA and the battery was only 1500mAh, The Xperia Z is 2350mAh and the charger is twice as powerful, 1500mA, a major advance.
I read something about the new fast charging technology when the Xperia S was launched, I think it was promissing to charge 80% in 30 minutes.
I must not have been paying enough attention, but I had understood that the Xperia Z had improved from what I think the Xperia S could do and it would charge the battery completely in 30 minutes.
There's an sticker on the back of my Xperia Z that shows the phone charging and it's written 30 minutes beside it. This should have increased my misunderstanding, as reinforced my idea that the phone could charge completely the battery in just 30 minutes.
However, I've been reading the user guide which recommends charge the phone for 30 minutes before first use. I think the sticker refers to this alert...
Charging a 2350 mAh battery in 30 minutes really seemed too amazing to be true!

90 - 120 mins
and its normal time for ~2300mAh battery
:good:
Using the stock dock takes around 1hr and 10-20 mins

5-10% to 85+ takes about 40 minutes for me. Getting it to 100% about an extra half hour though, which I feel isn't worth the time of not having my secret lover in the pocket.
Charge dock.
I have found the charge time to be alot longer than my previous s2 and s3, It seems to be nearly 2 hours. That said, with stamina mode enabled, I am getting the kind of battery life that I could only dream of on my s3 with a really aggressive juice defender profile.

I've had this phone for a few days, but i get only 30% for 1:45-2 hours through USB 3.0 port, is this normal? My old phone was about full for 2 hours or less. I was on stock 434 and flashed 307, i don't think that makes a difference though.

thank you very much. i will post charge time later this day
Charge Time
After a month, using the genuine 1,5A Sony charger, my Xperia z still takes 2 hours for a full charge when turned off, 25% in 30 minutes. If on, but on standby (when sleeping), it takes 30 minutes to charge 20%. I tested a genuine Samsung Galaxy S3 charger and it charges 22% in 30 minutes, a surprise for me, considering it's rated output power, 1A, less than the 1,5A Sony charger. I also have an Anker external battery that provided me the fastest charge time. In 30 minutes it charges 32%. The output power is 3A, but it comes with 2 usb ports to charge phones, I don't know if the 3A are available for only one USB port when only one is in used, or if it's always splitted 1,5A per USB port. I have juice plotter, so I can check the charge time easily later. The tests were all made on standby mode, display off, and the same apps and sync configurations. I really hoped the original charger from Sony was faster.
Same issue here. 1.5A seems to charge much slower than my HD2 1A charger. Something is definitely wrong...

The battery on the SP is pretty big, and it takes me about 5 hours to fully charge it(only noticed once) from nearly 0%. So it already is charging quickly.

Battery Problems!

I just recently bought my Sony Xperia ZR (LTE version) 3 weeks ago. It's already updated to 4.3 Jellybean when I got it but every time I'm using it after 4hrs of charging, it easily drains my battery when I'm playing games and do some internet stuff. Is it normal? I've read some articles and blogs that some users can lasts their batteries about 1 to 2 days of using it when it was not updated to 4.3 Thanks!

If you are using it,the battery sure will drop slowy, but if you play games/internet,drains more fast.
and yes 4.3 consume more battery than 4.2.2
hopes that 4.4.2 update will be better

So that's why. I hope it will fix the problem for the next update. By the wau, since the day I bought this phone, I still not tried to test it on the water because touch block is not present on my phone and I don't know where to find it.

Low battery voltage?

Hello!
I have an 4-year Xperia SP C5303, with Candy5 v4.0-20151015 (I know, didn't update - OTA isn't working and I'm lazy), and recently I found a very strange issue with it. Whenever the smartphone goes down to 40% battery or lower, there is a chance that it will not wake up, plus there are accidental all-system ANRs.
I think it's battery which lost it's capabilities over the years and does not supply the required voltage under load. What do you think? What would you do? Is there a point in investing into battery replacement, and can I replace it, maybe by disassembling the smartphone?
I think after all this long time using candy ROM, all you need is recalibrating your battery.
This app will help you resetting your battery stats
