I just bought a Xperia Z1 last week. Worked well for 3 days. After that I was outside town and it lost mobile data connection. I had to reboot and go in and out of airplane mode and then I got back my mobile data. Worked fine after that.
Just two days back my Z1 lost its network signal although I can confirm that network was there (tested with my friend on same network). Did a restart and then it went into boot loop. Tried the power off (power key + vol up) restarted still same problem. Tried restarting in fail safe mode no changes.
Phones shows the Sony/Xperia logo boots to the lockscreen. Wallpaper is removed (completely black). Apps work but after around 30 secs auto-reboot. This cycle continues forever. I checked on sony forum and few others also had this issue. Anyone here had this issue ?
I will be giving my device to Sony Service Center. Any advices ?
Have you played with any system files?
Example system/build.prop after root?
I had issues when I played with this file.
Probably best you head to the general section and download the best ftf file for your region

My Z1 is on .257 stock unrooted. I have not changed any system files. Factory reset seems to have solved the issue although I read on Sony forum that the issue reappears on the plagued devices.

I got this too! My phone is on auto reboot mode. I tried repairing it using Sony Bridge but the problem is still there. I will return my phone to Sony.
I think there is something wrong with my NFC coz the NFC symbol keeps on blinking and then the phone restarts in 30 seconds.

My wifi stopped working since 2 weeks ago after a abnormal crash. Every time when I try to turn on wifi, it keeps saying turning on, but never did. Which causes the Stamina mode not working anymore.(and I think the phone keeps attempting to turn on wifi also increases battery usage) The Bluetooth also stopped working since then. I did factory reset number of times and Repair with PC companion, still not a chance.
Finally, I found a temp. solution, which I completely drain the battery and charge it from 0% to 100% with phone off. It seems this could reset the wifi problem. But once I connect back to my home wifi, it would cause an abnormal freeze(notification led become RED) and then reboot automatically, and then wifi stop working again. I searched a few posts and some people with xperia S had a similar wifi problem, but no solution.
I got a feeling that something crashes the wifi driver, and this cannot be reset either factory reset or SUS repair. Is there anyone here got a similar problem like me? Or anyone could explain what actually happening to my phone?
Thx

Did you had any luck with your WiFi? I have exactly the same problem,it keeps turning on without able see any network and the battery discharge faster. This happened to me after installing the app of dsploit,Tried to re-install the rom and re-lock the bootloader but still the same.
You better send to service center for repairing than fix it your self, very waste time and your money.if like to fix yourself better go to buy ap set not original.thing wisely,Man!!

i didnt know, i just think maybe i've did some mistakes setting or did wrong flash. but in this case it's solved my wifi trouble.
Hi actually I've got Xperia ZL and having serious issues with it. Ive posted thread in ZL but unfortunately no one can help so i thought id try here. Flashed .244 software and now whenever I turn data on and try maps it switches off.
Re flashed rom again via flashtool but still experiencing same issue. Flashed older fw but still problems persists. Anyone can help please?
Sometimes it won't turn back on have to wait min or so. At times it turns off at boot animation Or worst have to connect to charger and it turns back on.
I've only experienced this when mobile data is turned on and connecting to maps.
Hi all,
I’m having this problem (bug?) with booting the phone after uncheck “Optimised backlight” option under display in setting.
Basically, with the “Optimised backlight “option checked by default the phone boots fine. However, with the option ticked off, there is a greyish screen after the Sony logo and before the Xperia logo come on. The grey screen can last between 5 to over 30 minutes. I had to shut down the phone using the red bottom under the sim card slot many times.
I’d like to know if other Z1 users have the same problem, and if this is software or hardware related problem?
I’m running on rooted .534 UK, the problem was there with previous 518 version, and occurs regardless of if the phone is rooter or not?
Many thanks

Yes, I have this issue (but only intermittently) I just press the power button for a second or two and it carries on doing what it's doing. I haven't resorted to pressing the 'panic' button.
For the record, I am on the same firmware as yourself (also rooted). It happened to me also on 518.
I'm not worried about it. At all.
EDIT: I forgot to say that I get it regardless of the 'optimised backlight' setting.
This happened to me during the upgrade to .534, but hasn't happened since (though I rarely reboot now as I have the option to soft reboot thanks to Xposed and mods).
I had this happen on .518, unrooted. Took many hard resets to get my phone booted. Hasn't happened since I rechecked the back light option.
Happened twice today. First time backlight button checked, second time unchecked. Phone is on 534.
Thanks for all the feedbacks. I guess it is a software bug, and there is no need the me to exchange my Z1.

Hello!... I will tell about my case.
I bought the ZR in august 2013. It was rooted and flashed to 4.2.2. Everything worked fine. Until January 2014.
The first problem was - Silence during calls. I was not able to hear something. And my voice was not heard on the other side. In tests microphone and dynamic worked fine. External dynamic and earphones did not change something - silence during call remained.
After some time (phone was on and off... and again... and battery was removed some times) problem disappeared. But after one day it came back. And disappeared again... and came back... and so on for few times. The other functions all the time worked good. I only was not able to talk during calls.
I flashed the phone to 10.4.1.B.0.101... and to some previous firmwares by Flashtool. But nothing changed.
The next stage after some days was: I turned the phone off. And after turning on it was not been able to see the network. And wifi was not working. I went to settings and saw - IMEI and MAC have disappeared.
I flashed phone to 10.4.1.B.0.101 again. Nothing changed.
And after a little time phone said something like: "the system application stopped" ( I did not remember exactly). And than after rebooting it went into:
"the phone goes up to locked homescreen and then screen goes black and restarts automatically".
I think our cases may have one problem in basis. And I think the problem is in hardware.
I will go to service center. But I think they are not very good in fixing phones here...

I have the same problem, have you been able to fix it?
Since you say no IMEI then you have to fix that first of you are on warranty unroot play dumb and get a replacement
If not look for the fix

To replace the phone or get money back I should give the phone to official service center in my town. They have 45 days to fix phone. If not - i can get money back. So the phone fixing procedure may be a long time thing. I bought xperia z1 compact. And I have not a lot of time for going to service center. But when it will be done I will write here about the result.
And it's not rooted now of course
Problem was solved. Sony changed some electronic parts of my phone. Now it works good. It was the hardware dysfunction.
Hey XDA'ers,
First off, in case anyone mentions that I have to use the search function of XDA: I did an I couldn't find any thread with this exact question, so I presume it's okay. Now, ever since I've installed the sound fixing update Over The Air, my phone crashes quite often. This happens most often when I play music through my amplifier with a standard 3.5mm cable. There seems to be about half an hour in between but it varies. The music would suddenly stop and my phone won't turn on anymore, with a completely black screen. If I then wait a little longer, the phone restarts and it does not even require me to enter my SIM's PIN code which is odd on its own, as if it doesn't fully crash but reboot on its own or something. I thought it only happened while listening to audio, but it just happened again when I only tried to open the Album app, I got the message that the app crashed and while that message was popping up (it was still a bit transparent) the phone froze and rebooted.
Now, I'm used to regular apps suddenly crashing with my Xperia Z1 which is weird to begin with, but opening these apps again just gets rid of the problem. It was only a minor annoyance so far, but it did make the Z1 look like the firmware wasn't stable at all (multiple apps keep crashing, even the front camera today as well...). But now that the phone even reboots at least every day, the minor annoyance is becoming a major annoyance. I really don't want to reinstall the firmware because it takes too much time to reinstall all the apps and data I have on the device.
So I'm just wondering now, am I the only one with this issue? I don't suppose there's an easy way to fix it without factory resetting or reflashing firmware. And by the way, I'm completely on stock with my device. I haven't rooted, unlocked the bootloader or anything. If you've experienced this as well, please let me know. Maybe we can dive into it. Have you for example reset factory settings with the issue reoccurring? Have you flashed the firmware yourself and did the issue perhaps stop? I'd love to know.
~ Herman :cyclops:
Try repair the Z1 via PC companion, you will not lose any data to do that and maybe will fix the problem, otherwise a Factory Reset will be recommended.

Wait, this PC Companion repair does not erase any kind of data on my phone? Are you sure?
I thought it would just reflash my firmware and basically do a factory reset. Which is not what I'm looking for.
Have you not experienced any app crashes or rather sudden phone reboots?
I have the same. Sudden reboots. It was the same way when I was rooted on the.. 757 firmware.
I did the repair with Sony update. Still the reboots but even more random. When rooted it usually rebooted when using camera.
Also the touchscreen doesn't react like normal sometimes. Not that often it happens but it happens.
Reboots about once every day and at completely random occasions.
I'm guessing it's the firmware, just have to wait until a stable firmware comes. Until then we are stuck beeing testpilots for Sony developers.

why you are afraid to start from 0 ... I can not understand ... too much of laziness??? your stories of wanting to keep your data, tends to cause bugs that are not on a clean system...
You can save the very important files on your computer... And restore the principal after...
You should atleast try a repair but for me everything actually got worse after the repair.
Someone at Sony replied to me with "have you tried your phone without the sim card". Are there known issues with simcards making our phones crashing I wonder?
