to check whether battery is swollen or not remove the battery and put it in a flat surface and check you can find it easily

You should check by putting it on a flat surface as the previous user said.
You can also post pic of your battery here.

You need to use macro mod when taking picture that close. It is blurry. I think the battery is swallen, from what I see.

If it has swolen to the point where it bothers you a bit you might consider getting a new one as in previous phomes after than comes faster battery drain and random restarts/power off's.

Yes that's common with batteries that have swolen, I myself had a similar issue in the past, good luck mate.

If our phone can handle the Galaxy S battery,is it possible to hold the 1650 mAh battery Galaxy SL has?My battery has swollen so I want to buy a new one.If I buy the same model,I'm afraid that it will break too after another year.

i tried the i9000 battery and it doesn't fit in the phone...

if it's swollen it's definitely defect, that means it's crystalizing

[Q] Loose Battery???

Hi everyone,
I had seen a thread somewhere that someone mentioned that their battery was loose inside the phone and that the could hear it rattle around but I cannot seem to find that thread now.
I too have this issue. When I shake the phone for example I can hear the battery rattle around inside and when I take off the cover I can move the battery a bit from side to side. Can anyone tell me why this is?
I KNOW this is NOT a fake battery as I watched the store clerk open my box and build my phone from BRAND NEW and I have done the comparison on the batteries as well. It just seems that the hole for my battery is a bit too big orthe battery is a bit too small.
Can anyone tell me what I can or should do about this issue?
yes, i recall that topic as well
so you are not hallucinating
no idea where it went
if you do have this issue with the phone + battery, i'll suggest you take it back to bell for an exchange
they should be able to tell quite clearly this is not normal when they compare to the other phones they have
I stuck a business card, cut in half, between the battery and the cover. Seems to have filled the space in just enough to make a tight fit, my battery is no longer loose.
For now I have wedged a piece of paper between the battery and the hole and it has stopped the battery from moving as well but this should not have to be done I am sure.
@allgamer - I would take it back but I purchased it from Future Shop and the location I bought it has not received any new shipments in since and that was a month ago. The concensus from the Bell Stores here is the same as well stating that they are all on backorder.
I will keep my ears and eyes open on this and when they do have some new stock I will be bringing it to their attention for sure.
Yiann, even i have this problem with my bell i9000. I just found out and was looking if anyone else had this issue. I will take it in when i get a chance and will let you know. Did u get a chance to get it replaced or how did u fix this issue?
Thx

I have this issue too.. the battery is way too loose. It must be a common manufacture error.
Same problem
i also have a loose battery in my gti9000.....even after wedging a piece of folded paper in between the battery and the surrounding loose area and making it fit quite tightly, the phone still makes a rattling noise when it vibrates....though when i hold the phone in my hand, it doesn't make that rattling sound...wondering if it cud be something other than the battery...

Lockscreen bug with smartcover and battery drain

Hello everyone,
I bought on ebay this smartcover since I saw that lots of people were talking great about it (like being the best cover for Nexus 7). After some days of use, I found out that my lockscreen bugs quite a lot and I'm not always able to unlock my device if it's in the smartcover, and yesterday I found out a strange use of the system, like it drained my whole battery without using it.
Anyone is experiencing same issue? Shall I go for another cover?
Thanks everyone,
Tiwiz

I actually can't believe you just posted this, I've had this case for a couple of months and literally last night started putting the battery issue down to the fact that the case/cover may be waking the tablet when it shouldnt.
Also I've noticed that maybe like 50% of the time, when you open the cover it doesn't unlock, other half of the time it does?
Same issues?!

Seems were in the same boat here, as I went through 3 cases until I found this.
Loved it but these issues are doing my head in.
From what I can see, if you close the case, then turn it to its front, the front of the case is still raised.
This could cause the sensor to think its not closed sometimes?
I dno, just pondering.
But do it and tell me if your case does this, like if you look at it from the front and top, theres a gap between the case and screen.
I hope you understand what I'm saying there

Yes, I noticed about the front cover as well, and I saw magnet sometimes freaks the screen out... I'm beginning to think that the only cover is Asus'...

The magnet is what makes it a smart cover. So not sure how its the cases fault

Yes, but it might freaks out in some ways... I don't remember actually formulas, but I'm sure there's something wrong with the cover... even it was just the magnet waking up the device every now and then.

Thats what I believe it is, due to the front part of the cover not actually touching the screen EVER, I'm just thinking that every so often, the Nexus just thinks its not there, wakes up and then the cover is activated again and then goes back to sleep, then back into deepsleep.
Thats my theory, but I'm still keeping the case, its great

I have another case shown with another problem, used to get random screen offs, then it become more worse over time, to the point whilst I was actively using the tablet the screen would go off constantly, i now use it it out of the case until now to take a photo.....guess what? I couldn't type in my pin number.
Makes me think that with my problems and the OP problems, may I know why the official cases from Asus don't have a magnet inside.
Just a thought.

I have more or less the same cover (mine has a leather piece that covers the bezel... which doesn't bother me). It does work well and it looks great. And I've had no issues with the smart lock (but my N7 is set to go into airplane mode whenever the cover closes, so that may have something to do with it). I would recommend it.

To be clear, I was talking about the one you posted, not the one from the original poster.
As I said, mine is a bit different than that one... http://www.hipstreet.com/hipstreet-asus-google-nexus-7-rotating-case/
The rotating is the best part of the cover. I know people who have smart covers that fold back and the magnets turn off the screen from behind. I can just rotate mine and avoid that problem. Also, as shown in the promo pictures, the rotating is good for standing the pad up in both portrait and landscape. When it's closed it looks like a moleskine notebook, so I can carry it to work and meetings and look professional.
That said, it did fall of the top of my counter onto a tile floor and landed on its side with no damage. No guarantees, but I was happy.
(And I got it cheaper than the MSRP from Staples Canada... $29 as I recall.)
I have the same case as the OP and I have issues with it locking itself when its open but that may be the magnet triggering the lock from the back side of the device. I've also noticed some battery drain with the cover closed, almost as if its being locked/unlocked throughout the day.

Q. Battery replacement advice

Hey guys, been having battery issues for the last 3 months with my battery hitting 50% and then 0% in minutes. I initially thought the issue was 5.0 as it never happened on 4.4.4. Many clean installs and various versions and still the issue happens. With the phone being almost 2 years old, it actually dawned on me the actual battery ? was the issue. So bought a replacement yesterday and the back panel adhesive.
Can anyone give me tips on removing the back panel and installing the battery. I have not found much info on it.
Thanks
It's fixed with a 3M double tape...sorry for my English
Thanks @ninjasoft.
I bought the double sided adhesive tape specifically for the z1, should be OK to install. It's the removal of the back panel and replacing the battery that concerns me. I understand that the waterproof capabilities will be lost. Had anyone here changed out the battery before?
check this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMa01HRF1zU
it's for changing the lcd, but in the first part they remove the back. They use a professional heater, while i doubt you have it. A normal hair dryer is ok too, i've done it, just you'll have to heat the phone a little more that in the video.

Thanks, checked out the vid. Very informative. Glad I bought the adhesive as well. Looking straight forward enough. Happy days.
OK battery successfully replaced. How should I go about getting it properly calibrated?
I use superglue after assemble back panel,
because when use 3M adhesive only, the back panel open itself when phone warm / hot while play game.
be careful with second mic hole, if not sealed properly, water can get from it

Use "battery calibration" from playstore. charge until 100%. then use normal till 1% then charge again until 100% without break (flight mode recommended).
Thanks @Alvian_P.
You need to have the phone rooted to use that app. I recently clean installed the latest Firmware 283. Can that be rooted yet?
Does Kingroot work?

some people says work with kingroot, if not use PRF tool to create preroot firmware, you can find in Sony cross device page.
btw, I press my phone like in pict when installing back cover

Yeah, but make sure your paper clip not on above touchscreen. Press on the egde screen.

yes may its look bad idea, but it will easy open use "electronic cleaner" like THIS, just spray on border between back cover and middle frame then use hairdryer to heat backcover. So you can easy open backcover using suction cup.
alternative rather than electronic cleaner, is a Aceton or Alcohol 90'
hope it help

Mine is coming up to 2 years old and was completely crap. Battery life was seriously hamper since going onto Lollipop. Was fine with KitKat.
I would suggest changing it for sure.
Realised that lollipop is the actual issue with battery drain. Went back to kit kat, rooted rom and usability is restored.
Hi, I too had the battery drop issue as you explained in your first post.
I replaced the battery as well.
The battery still shuts down when I use the camera sometimes also!
I'm wondering if it happens with yours on kitkat?

Back Cover Unevenly Glued

My back cover for the Nexus 6 seems unevenly glued, the top left corner has a slightly bigger gap in between the metal frame compared to the rest of the panel. I am afraid the back cover would peel off over time. Is this an indication of the peeling back covers users reported a while back? Thanks in advance.

Ok Gotcha! I believe I am still in the return window, however, the phone was bought from Amazon in another country, not sure if they would do much. Hopefully Motorola will offer something. Now that I inspect the phone, it appears if the panel is fully glued to the aluminum frame, there gaps here and there. I would have thought Motorola fixed this issue in production, since it was reported long ago.

Don't have this problem.... Wen it's new or not so used the top that clicks like a normal biro pen doesn't move so much (moves only a little bit) and so doesn't make all that noise when replaced in the phone. I think it's worn so maybe it might remain like that or maybe it can get even worse till it breaks.
Yours was like that even new? If yes, in this case you can tried to get another one in warrenty for a replacement otherwise I don't know if warrenty covers worn-out pens.

I think it's a problem that comes standard and I do not know if it's really a bad thing. Mine and the video are new, but I think it's a kind of shock absorber Spen (@Jammol said once in this forum)
If it were totally rigid it would break more easily.
Edit: Mine does not move much either, in the video it seems that the Spen moves more but because it focuses closer.
i think it is normal. my note 9 s pen has the same condition. but it does not make rattle sound.
