/data/local is read before /system/media, and isn't written over, say, when updating a nightly.
I prefer this method as I find it safer/easier to revert back.

Finally they brought CID back.
I always wondered why they came up with their new mascot and then ditched him again a few weeks later for a "generic" spinning animation.
No offense to whoever came up with that animation, it was nicely done, but I felt that it was unnecessary as the previous animation was fine.
Ya 1080 is link is still going to old build, when I went to last link I clicked on the second patch set which is the new boot and the old is on the right. Thanks for Sharing the link. Cids cool, but like the guy commented on they are going backward and more kindergarten'ish. Which personally i was expecting something in the opposite direction with all the 4.4 hype lol. Thanks again.

can we get this in red gs4? please
Yeah bud.. Go ahead and download the 720p or the 1080p one.

It is the old bootanimation ! I tried a few resolutions now. I am still looking for the CM 11 Bootanimation to download in 720p, because I deleted my bootanimation by accident.
If someone got a download link, let me know please
And the creator of this thread should seriously check his files haha:laugh:

NOT WORKING on gt s7262
Related
Hey guys, this is my first boot animation for the thunderbolt. It is working with currently on Das BAMF 1.3.
The bootanimation is based of of the Naruto Shippuden series and features Kakashi's Mangekyou Sharingan and the Team Mangekyou logo. I am hoping to start developing some more Mods and themes to go along with various ROM's based on this. I hope to have a few others done this week. I will update it when they are done.
**DISCLAIMER**
As like all others I am not responsible if this bricks or hoses your phone. PLEASE PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP PRIOR!!! I will do my best to help if you are having problems
**Requirements and Instructions**
- Rooted Phone
- Root Explorer
- USB Data Cable
- ADB knowledge always a plus
- 15 minutes of time
Instructions
Copy attached zip to desktop
extract the bootanimation.zip and FinalThunder.mp3
Mount SD to computer
Place both files down on root of SD-Card
Mount SD back to phone
***Back Up existing bootanimation.zip and FinalThundermp3***
Using root explorer go into /system/media*
*Now some may not have a custom ROM so it may be in /system/customize/resource, you can do the same thing here, just know i didnt test it here.*
tap the top right of the screen where it says Mount R/W
long press bootanimation.zip and rename to bootanimation.zip.bak
long press FinalThunder.mp3 and rename to FinalThunder.mp3.bak
***Place TeamMangekyou bootanimation.zip and FinalThunder.mp3***
navigate back to main folder and go into /sdcard
tap menu and select Multi-Select
select bootanimation.zip and FinalThunder.mp3 and hit copy
navigate back to /system/media and hit paste
long press on bootanimation.zip and select permissions and have it set to the following if they aren't already (X = check mark filled)
User - X - O - O
Group -X - O - O
Others-X - X - O
Do the same for FinalThunder.mp3 and change to...
User - X - X - O
Group -X - O - O
Others-X - O - O
Reboot phone and enjoy!!!!
If you like the stock OEM thunder sound, by all means keep it there, it will work with the animation.
UPDATED TO VERSION 1.1
PREVIEW THE BOOT ANIMATION HERE!!!!
Had a request for the actual splash screen, attaching here. This will be a permanent change. I suggest using splash flasher to make a backup of your original if you want.
Instructions for uploading
-Place attached file on root of SD Card
-Boot into the Bootloader
-Select fastboot
-Accept changes for image
-Reboot phone and enjoy
Might be easier to use ADB to get to bootloader. thats how i did it, if you need more detailed instructions let me know.

This sounds really cool, i hope you can get it working. What soundbite if any plays while this boot loads? There is always some sound when the Sharingan's are activated.

Thats badass(Japanese Shippuuden is the only way to go), cant wait to try it. I hope it will work on Virus's rom. It would be cool to have Itachi's and Sasuke's Mangekyou's(I love the look of Sasuke's) both animated on the screen along with Kakashi's.

I would like that also
Edit: This would be cool imo for the future, not sure if its even possible or feasible.
When the boot is finished loading, have Sasuke's eye come up and use amaterasu(with the soundbite if possible) and have the screen burn with black flames then open to your home screen.

Im working on an Amaterasu one now, its done, just need to test it out. I'm making it for a friend for his Droid X and then i may alter it a little.
Once that is done I am going to work on a sage mode/rasen shuriken one i have an idea for and use the sound of the rasen shuriken since there really isnt much sound to sage mode.
STAY TUNED!!

I'm waiting to get my dev phone back to test it out. Had to load it to a friend who dropped his in water (doh)....once its back and i can test it i'll post it.
Background
after editing the read_ahead_kb value of the script to speed it up. in the. init.d folder in the phone . it came to my head why dont i do that for the rest of the folders in that directory . I checked the destination folder and edit the other values , to increase their read_ahead_kb speed of the other folder thus the system .
i got there (sys/devices/virtua/bdi/)
there are other folders , the original value was 128 kb , i increased it 512 kb the phone was stable for a day and the games look better and the phone felt smoother . next day i increased it to 768 kb , the phone was even smoother , i took the final step to bump it to 1024 kb . holy cow . i could tell the difference
just an example , playing agent dash , i couldnt play music at the same time, but with the value of 1024 kb read ahead speed , now i can play it and listen to my progressive techno . the improvement is not just in game but in apps (opening and closing) .:good:
i meant you have to see it to believe
there is only one hiccup here . the rom the phone has is energy rom , is a port , but hopefully most of the roms have the same path .
* that is why is best to just attach the script and others can just change the path to it . it will be easier ( dont be lazy and check you file location)
* the first link is the direct script ,
* i dont know why the values dont stick from folders sys/devices/bdi/virtual/179:64 to sys/devices/bdi/virtual/254:4
* folder sys/devices/virtual/bdi/179:0 is the sd card value . usually roms have a init.d script for it. i have a sd card class 10 and 4096 kb works best form me, but 2048 kb and 3072 kb are good values too
* KERNEL HAS TO SUPPORT INIT,D SCRIPTS *** REQUIREMENT***
the script is really simple , dont be that hard .
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
- download to sd card
- using a file explorer ( root explorer . es explorer , there are a few in the android market )
- copy and paste the scritp tp the init.d folder ( mount system first)
- change permissions to RWX R-X R-X
- unmount system press home reboot
- reboot . enjoy , let me know
*** New** instructions
> download .zip to the root to the sd card
>boot into recovery flash script
> optional wipe both caches [dalvik and cache] . fallowing boot should take like 5 minutes ( clearing caches , helps to have cleaner mods , trust me i know
> check directory to make sure values stick , make sure have same directory , actually do this before , flashing lol
[[[ Not responsible for broken phone or anything that happens after flashing it ]]]]

Question what is the value of the read_ahead file in the folders ?
179:0 is for the sd card ,
Most roms have identical paths .
What are the other entries?

Well, it appears for these soundpacks to work, the original sounds have to be present. I usually delete most of the media files and some system apps before flashing a ROM so a lot of these sounds weren't working for me. So what I did was extract them to system/media/ui and set permissions, and that did it.
They are a tad loud, though. Otherwise, cool idea.

Check the links in the first post. You have to create an xml file to correspond to the sound files, I think, and zip them up. And they have to be in ogg format.

- added the support for set the max cpu freq and governor;
...but the most important thing
- bypassed Samsung protection! By now, all the people that haven't a compatible phone or simply a not Samsung phone, can install every app. Just put the apk on your phone and install it manually. In 3rd post i will explain how to MOD the original apks.
HOW TO INSTALL:
IMPORTANT: Update your gear to the NF1 FW before flash!
1- Reboot gear in download mode;
2- Download Odin 3.09
3- in AP field select the ROM file;
4- Press start and wait till finish.

HOWTO:
In order to use all the customization options you need to use sdb:
1- enable USB debug in the watch settings;
2- connect the watch to the PC and open a shell
3- navigate to the folder where u put the sdb binary and then:
Code:
sdb root on
Code:
sdb shell
...now you are in the gear shell, so:
setup folders with:
Code:
setup-folder.sh
...this script create some folders on your gear mass-memory, accessible from windows or linux, just copy your ringtones, alarms, alerts, fonts into the relative folders.
- The custom boot and shutdown animations must be copy into the root and must be renamed to poweron.edj and poweroff.edj
- The icons must be renamed like the ones u find in the simple theme attached at this post ( take care of the size);
...then do these commands to install your stuff:
Code:
install-ringtones.sh
Code:
install-alarms.sh
Code:
install-alert.sh
Code:
install-shutdownanimation.sh
Code:
install-bootanimation.sh
Code:
install-theme.sh
Code:
install-fonts.sh
To adjust the cpu max freq and governor:
Code:
set-cpu-governor
Code:
set-cpu-maxfreq
.. a textual menu will be showed, select a number and press enter. The settings will stick over reboot.
HERE you can find a theme pack. Inside there're some folder of stock icons colored in different way.
Just copy all the png's inside the "theme" folder in the memory of your gear and run the script install-theme.sh.
HOW TO MOD THE APKS IN ORDER TO WORK WITH MY ROM:
1- Bring the apk ( you can also install via Samsung App Store and copy the apk with a root browser from /data/app/);
2- pull the wgt file that are inside the assets folder;
3- import in tizen SDk and remove the signature;
4- always in Tizen SDK rebuild the wgt with the test signature;
5- put the wgt u have created in the step above inside the apk ( you have to copy it over the original);
6- sign the APK.
This might seem a bit complicated but i will upload a video to explain better. It's more easy as it appears.
Here's a video
Modded version of WatchStyler DOWNLOAD
and you can find some APK.... HERE

We jailbreak the Samsung chains!
BTW the apple jailbreak allow the installation of apps outside the customer store. The Tizen jailbreak do almost the same, this is why i called it jailbreak.
Ok, you got me glued to the computer pressing F5 lol. I also have been changing the config to the Gear2 to get access to a few more apps on the store. It's easier to Odin without connect to phone and pull / edit / push / reboot and turn bluetooth on again and connect. Otherwise it wipes everything.... Thanks again.

@Skin1980, my man, can we flash on top of v2.0?
As the title says I'll be making new boot logos just for the fun of it. Most of the images I'll be using I find on Google Images. If anyone has a boot logo request or would like to share a boot logo they made contact me (via Hangouts) and I will add it here (with mention of the creator)
- For Requests: Send me the image you want in Hangouts (can be found on profile - No longer using PM for personal reasons) - Must be a portrait photo
- To add your work here: Share it below and message me and I will make mention in the next post
- To make your own: Follow @TheSt33v's guide here: BootLogo Mod Guide
I've attached pictures of the Logos I've made so far. (Some appear up side down on XDA but will appear correctly on your device)
Download the .bin files and flash the logo you want using the following command in fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash logo imagename.bin

- Thanks to @TheSt33v for finding this Logo modding tool: Boot Logo Modding Tool
- Thanks to @jcase and @beaups for unlocking the Droid Turbo
- Thanks to Google Images for the pictures I used
- Thanks to all who submitted their creations and for the requests
**Please let me know if any of the Logo are not sized, oriented, etc properly and I will address it.**
**Buying Photoshop - I want to try to make better quality photos for you guys. Next Upload is 2\29. Cheers**

@munchy_cool Sorry for the Quality of the graphic. That is the best you can get with the file size needed to be able to use it as a boot logo.

@RL_Wells Here are two I did for you. They did not come out as good as I would have liked. The best advice I can give to people trying to make their own bootlogos are to use the most minimal amount of colors you can in your logo. It needs to be in .png format and your image needed to be resized to 1440x2560. I have found around 320kb to be the limit for the size of the file you can use.

How about an Aperture Science terminal and Fallout 4 Pipboy loading?

Oh this is just the logo and not the animated video that plays?

Put another way, what's the difference in this versus the bootanimation.zip found in /system/media?

1) any requests need to sent to me in PM or hangouts with requested picture
2) The logo image comes before the boot animation (example: the giant "M for Motorola" picture you see when you first turn on the phone)

If you want to build bootanimation.zip for cm and vanilla android.
1) download video or gif
2) edit video or gif to be less than 500 frames 5mb (I use "gif me five" app)
3) go to http://www.bhoot.co.uk/ and upload the file
4) download it now from boot as a flashable zip, or a cm 12 theme apk
5) profit.

Definitely works, as does the zip. I was trying to add my own animation using the same tools, and for some reason TWRP won't accept it =/ File sizes/types are right, just can't get it to flash successfully for some reason. Sure I'm doing something wrong.
In the meantime, Decepticons it is!
