Hey guys. Currently using CM9 Nightly build 9/29 with Moboot 0.3.5, CWM 5.0.2.6 and I'm pretty sure I used ACMEInstaller2 to do all of this.
I wondering if I need to update moboot or cwm or repartition with acmeinstaller3. Or should I just stay on this until I decide to do a CM10 or CM11 (future) ROM. Thanks. Also, if you do suggest I update, would you mind providing either a link or just drop a few lines running through quickly? Thanks

I believe, at minimum, you may need to repartition. I was running CM9, but in preparation for newer Android releases I opted to perform a full reset back to stock WebOS, used Tailor to re-partition, then re-install Android. You can use WebOS Quick Install to install both Preware and Tailor, or just install Preware and use that to install Tailor.
I used the following software versions for my Android re-install:
ACMEInstaller3 (http://d-h.st/GMi)
moboot 0.3.8 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2151987)
ClockWorkMod 6.0.1.9 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2111734)
Android 4.2.2, CyanogenMod 10.1 nightlies from @milaq (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290346)
I recommend reviewing the guides linked in the following index thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29261108
For the partition sizes in Tailor, I searched for suggestions and went with the following custom layout for my 32GB TouchPad:
USB (media): 20,000 MiB (19.531 GiB)
Android (system): 512 MiB
Android (cache): 512 MiB
Android (data): 7,168 MiB (7 GiB)
Unused Space: None
You should read this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147284
I was in the same spot a few weeks ago. I stayed with moboot 3.5, updated cwm to 6.0xx, updated my partition to 512mb. I went with evervolv 4.3. I would have stayed with CM but for the 4.3 update they require a repartitioning of space and I did not want to do that yet. I dont use blue tooth so Im ok with that.
You can see your options from this link. Everythig else is pretty much a link off it.

Thanks everyone.
So if I just want to stay with what I have, which is CM9 with CWM 5-whatever, just keep it the way it is?
But if I want to move up I should uninstall everything, use acme3 with moboot 0.3.8 and CWM6 and then install jellybean or newer?

Is there a detriment to staying with current partition size and just using a different CWM? I heard that CWM6 fixes some sort of bug? You repartitioned, but that's because you went to a JellyBean Rom right?

This is a 3 part response.
1) If your fine with your current settings then dont do anything. Maybe flash cwm 6 at the most. Why mess with what works.
2) If you want to move up to CM 10.1 or higher then you have to flash the 512mb mod. That just takes the data partition(think that what its called) to 512 for the larger roms. Then your ok installing a 4.1 rom , just down load the rom and gapps. Boot into cwm, wipe data, cache, davlink and install the zips.
3) If you want to go to CM 4.3, then you have to also flash a second partitioning mod. This messes up your partition and you have to run another zip if you ever want to go back. Not as hard as it sounds but I didnt want to do it. The Evervolve 4.3 doesn't require the second mode. I basically kept moboot 3.5, flashed cwm6, flashed the 512mb zip. Booted to recovery and wiped everything, flashed evervolv and gapps and was good to go. I don't use bluetooth so Im good. You really have to look at the roms and see what meets your needs.
There's not much difference between 4.1,4.2 and 4.3 but I figured Id go to the latest stable for now. Sometimes Id like to go back to CM9, had the best camera for me.
Let me know if you need any help.

I have 2 nook colors one for me and one for my girlfriend, I am/was running CM 7 on them. Its been awhile since ive updated them. Ive tried the newest nightly and the latest STABLE release. Both got hung up on the same spot. The green CM logo will say its loading then it will go into a black screen lit by the backlight and just hangs there. no boot animation, no boot loop. Just sits there. Or It will just reboot itself back into clockwork after saying it installed the rom. Ive used the CWM removal and that made it just hung on a nook bootup screen.
Ive let it sit for 15 minutes and nothing. Im not new as ive rooted my og droid, my dx and 2 nook colors. I havent really had this issue with the nooks. not really sure what to do. Ive wiped data/cache formatted the symsted, data and cache and nothing.
My steps are as follows.
1)Download either Phiremod test 7 or ANY CM nightly
2) plug my data sdcard into my computer and transfer
3)boot into clockwork
4)Wipe pretty much everything (I also tried installing on top of the stable releases)
5)Install.
I know to expect issues but there HAS to be something im doing wrong that lets one nook install flawlessly and another nook that wont install any nightly or test build. If it didnt boot up they wouldnt leak the nightly. Its something on my end. I gotta figure it out
I also just went back to stock and re-rooted and I have the same issue

You probably have the wrong bootloader and kernel...the newest cm7s are based on the 2.6.32, not the older 2.6.29 (or something), and the newest 1.2 bootloader..which you probably don't have if it's "been awhile"..lol...You have to upgrade your Cwm first, from 3.0.1.0 to 3.0.2.8, I think, then flash your Cwm to a nightly after 86??(Google to check), and it will change your boot partition to the correct one...If your nook still says "touch the future", you're on the wrong bootloader.....Also, quit using Phiremod.....it's a copy of Cm7 first of all, but by the time it's released, it's already outdated, it's not updated like it should be, and it's Douchey. Google the basics of what I described above if it sounds like that might be your problem and lmk how it works out for you....Btw....I used nightly 106 for this exact thing on another of my Nooks a few days ago and it worked flawlessly...There are newer nightlies out, but that one for sure worked.....

I might be confused; Is one of your Nooks OK or are they both refusing to boot anything based on the .32 Linux kernel?
As I read it you aren't having trouble loading either with 7.0.3 stable. Correct?
The only thing I could suggest is loading the stable version, downloading the latest nightly CM (skip Phiredrop's theme for now) DIRECTLY to the SD card (skip the computer step), and do a factory reset and format boot, system, data, and cache (all four).
Load just the nightly and gapps (save the OC kernel for later), and then see if THAT boots all the way up.
Of course make sure you have a full backup of the stable OS install before you start.
If none of that works, then prepare the SD card as an install card and try that. Do you have just the one card?
Thanks for the replies....I thought 3.2.0.1 was the newest clockwork? I guess I need to pay more attention to the nook. lmao Mazook I think you are on the right track. Also to the phiremod is that the og droid equivalent to UD? hahahaha I actually liked the look of phiremod but i digress...
On that note I installed the uboot 1.2 and flashed it and it still boots into clockwork but that maybe because I may be on an outdated cwm im the one i stated above

If I remember correctly, you can't just jump from 3.0.0.6 or 3.0.1.0 to newest...there's one in between that transitions the upgrade in bootloaders...I'm pretty sure I went 3.0.1.0 to 3.0.2.8 to flashing Cm7 nightly 106...then to upgrade to Cwm 3.2.0.1 while in Rom manager, while using Cm7....leSigh....Clockworkmod is the only thing I can't stand about using my Nook....(though I rarely need it any more) AmonRa is such a better (and fully functional) recovery build...One thing I wish we had gotten.....

While in Rom Manager, go to "flash older clockworckmod recoveries ".....then choose 3.0.2.8 (Make a nandroid first) and have all the stuff you want to flash ready to go on the SD...then go into recovery from Rom Manager, which will put you in 3.0.2.8......if that doesn't do it, try the same thing again, but go to 3.0.1.0 first....then, once you get into a working cm7 with 3.0.1.0, try it all again.(upgrade to 3.0.2.8 by" try it all again" , but this time from 3.0.1.0)...you're basically trying to reinstall your boot partition, but in a different location than where it is now...its a hassle, but you can do it through just rom manager.....it's just a hassle...

Well Id love to try that but.....My nook wont turn on. It was fully charged today. Im either gonna make a bootable cwm or go back to stock and root again. I dont know if that will work though because its not even powering up.
Ok....i think im making progess....The newest nightly just goes into a bootloop. better than a clockwork bootloop i guess..... any advice on how to get it to install properly? i feel like im making progress. normal bootloops are better than what i was getting
Bueller............Bueller lmao.
Seriously though.....if anybody can figure this out it would make my year
Try this, install stock 1.2....
boot it up, go through the annoying setup, log into google apps, then power down.
Boot into CWR SD, this should have the os that you want already on it, and the google apps file.
THen click install from zip, choose zip, install the OS, after complete install google apps, then restart without sd
Do not format anything, it should do the trick.
Hi,
I know the touchpad isn't an android phone, so is it possible to upgrade from CM7 to CM9 using clockwork recovery, or do I have to use the same method as I used when installing.M7. I don't mind using the original method, but I don't want to loose everything I have on WebOS. Any advice will be very welcome.
Many thanks
Ian
You can, however you have to do a full reset - format /system, /data, and /cache, then do the update. You will lose everything from the Android side, but you don't have to lose all of WebOS to do it.
Hope that helps.
Use titanium backup to backup your stuff, then once you get cm9 installed, restore. I've done it a few times successfully (so far...... :laugh
I know it's not recommended, but I've flashed CM9 and gapps over the top of CM7 and had no problems at all, didn't lose anything.
It is not recommended to flash CM9 over CM7 if you did not use ACMEInstaller2 to install Android on your Touchpad initially. If you did not use ACMEInstaller2 then you will need to install your ICS ROM just like you did when you initially installed your GB ROM, but this time with ACMEInstaller2. Personally I'd rather start fresh and uninstall Android with ACMEUninstaller and then re-install Android with ACMEInstaller2.
You can use the two guides I have links to in my signature on how to root your Touchpad if you need a refresher as well links to download the necessary files.

CM9 -> CM10 can require repartitioning, but CM10 -> CM9 is just like any other ROM flash. Backup, download the ROM and save it on the sdcard, boot into recovery, full wipe, and flash. It only affects the Android partitions; WebOS won't be affected.

Don't forget the correct gapps as well 04/29 both of which are available in the first post of the nightly thread in the developers section.
Have fun .
The full wipe/factory reset is needed to go back from cm10 to cm9. I also include formatting system but that might be overkill. Going from cm9 to cm10 doesn't require more than clearing caches. It's the downgrade that is nasty. You do need the correct Gapps for cm9. Enjoy.
Hi,
I have CM9 and CWM on my touchpad, I wanted to upgrade to a jelly bean rom (SCHIZOID). Can anyone help me on how to update to this rom? Not too sure myself and I don't want to mess things up...
Thanks

I would do a completely clean install. Run acmeuninstaller, then in webos, run 'remove android'. I f you don't have it, download it from preware. If you don't have preware, install it using WOSQI. Then install cm10 using acmeinstaller3. As long as you're at it might as well upgrade cwm and moboot. They'll install with acmeinstaller3. Here's the link for recovery :http://goo.im/devs/jcsullins/cmtouchpad/recovery
Use the 12/15 version. Here's the link for acmeuninstaller and acmeinstaller3. http://goo.im/devs/jcsullins/cmtouchpad/tools
Here's the link for the gapps: http://goo.im/gapps
Use the 4/29 gapps for cm9 and the 10/11 for cm10.
There are several good how to's here and over at the webos nation forum. Just follow one and you'll be fine.
add one more thing::
backup the cm9 you have now.. my daily is cm9.
AFAIK, it will be complete when dorregaray is satisfied w/ his gyroscope..which i dont really care about acuz i dont play any of those games.
who knows when its fixed, i might play something tho.
i do have a current working cm10 installation backedup ..
there are couple things i want to see fixed before i make cm10 my daily..
I assume you can restore app data by backing up to titanium backup. I use it with my phone when changing ROMs.

I just installed CM9 using acmeinstaller 3 and moboot 0.3.5 and new cwm. Do I still need to do a clean install as described above if I want to try schizoid?
Can I just do a full erase data, /cache, and Dalvik Cache partitions.... and install schizoid zip via cwm?
This is pretty comprehensive: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31548-ho...with-sound-camera-microphone-updated-1302013/
After this, just use CWM to flash new rom.

I would recommend you to use CWM6 and moboot 0.3.8 at the very least. If you just want to check out the speed of cm10 for a little while, I would suggest using Oat's one off CM10 Christmas gift. I was mixing CM9/10 CWM5/6 boot.5/.8 and I had to webOS doctor it eventually. So be careful
Oats ROM is good because it could work even over a ACME2 instance
I have done all the reading and want to be sure I am understanding correctly.
My first install was CM9 which works great.
After using ACMEUninstaller I have on different occasions installed CM 10 and 10.1 using ACMEInstaller3.. Had issues both times so I reverted to my CM9 nandroid backup, can't say enough about how important that is.
My Question: Can I now safely FLASH CM10 and CM10.1 and gapps and not have to do the pc/tp transfer process?
Thanks for your assistance!
What issues did you have with the 10 and 10.1 flash? Is there a reason you're using acme instead of recovery to flash?
