Low Internal Storage after ROMs - Sprint HTC One (M7)

I have a 32G HTC One. It's rooted, S-OFF, with a custom ROM installed. In settings there is 2.9g apps, 3.3g downloads, 1.0 G photos, and 21G of other being used and 3.6G available. Can anyone tell me why only 3G left and whats taking up 21G. Is it the ROM??
Thanks

[Q] Help Setting up my G1

Ok guys I have been trying to set up this phone for a while now and always a week later the phone begins to start to mess up. When I say mess up, the phone crashes my apps disappear and the most annoying my SD card always gets a invalid file structure. I am using Super D Rom because I was using the cyanogen froyo and it was slow as hell. The SD card that I'm using is a WINTEC class 10 16GB, I tried formatting part of the sd card to linux swap file with no success. I would like a guide on setting up the phone from start to finish. So if anyone could help that would be great. Any recommendations are welcome
Do you install your apps on external SD?
Does your computer say the SD has got an invalid File-Structure?
Maybe you should try the Ezterry/Firerat Rom or if you like cm-features take the Ez FrankenCyan ROM. All of these ROMs seem to be very snappy and daily usable.
I'am currently using Ez FrankenCyan with Custom Boot Animation (so it doesn't say CyanogenMod at the start) with Zeam-Launcher and 2d Gallery, which works just fine!
If you don't want to mess around with Kernel-Installer, Radio and CustomMTD take Ezterrys Rom!

OK, I am using super e and my phone is very slow. At the first it was fast now just slow. I just want a Rom that has the google navigation, and maps, you know the essential stuff, I don't need Gingerbread or froyo. I think. Also on forums I have read that FROYO and GINGERBREAD are way to much for the G1 to handle.

If you don't want to mess around with Kernel-Installer, Radio and CustomMTD take Ezterrys Rom! I will find out what stuff I have I think I have all of the Cyanogen Froyo requirements because I used that forum to start on messing with ROMS. I'll check tonight whats on my phone. Thanks for replying

Will this work.
OK So I'm using AMON RA 1.7.0
Radio 2.22.19.26I
Also i'm using the fast boot with the 3 Androids on skate boards. I just want to find a ROM that will let me use my memory card and all my apps work fine. I'm using super E rom and it's not working properly. Apps are crashing and the phone is super slow. If anyone reads this that have pointers or suggestions about good ROMS and how to properly set them up, please post! I'm looking for a ROM that is FAST, and has all the google apps like Navigation, maps, etc. Please help. I'm not looking for fancy graphics and games, just a FAST rom that doesn't hang and also that I can install apps to my sd card. My SD card is a class 10 16gb card. Thanks guys.
Check out the yoshi gingerbread version its amazing sleek and fast. just upgraded from cm 6.1 to this and it's hella faster, make sure your EXT3/4 parition is under 1gb, perfferably like 512mb, the higher it is the more problems it has.

[Q] Safely Format Internal Storage

Hello all, and pardon the newbie question from me, as I've only really used nexus or AOSP ROMs on my devices.
I was searching the forums, and I found quite a few posts that were asking for help on fixing formatted internal storage resulting in a corrupted OS, but I was wondering how I would go about clearing my internal storage to make more room?
I'm currently using ARHD 12.1 (About to upgrade to 12.2) and I'm confused on why I only seem to have 16GB free with about 13+GB being used in the "Other" section.
I have a backup of my apps (1.5GB including data) and a backup of my ROM in TWRP (2.5GB) Even adding another 1GB just to make my point... would only render 5GB total used... so where is the other 8GB of data being stored?
Any help, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having 19.86 GB used, 8.6 in the "other" category
a opened the internal storage on my PC and added all the folder's sized by a calculator and the sum was about 12.65 GB.
almost same as yours
there is a video on youtube (I didn't watch it yet) about a fix for the One's internal memory after the 4.2.2 update.

I always make a backup every week, and after new ROMs. I know where the TWRP backup is, and I have moved it out, but there is still A LOT of space being used.
The settings in HTC Sense 5 aren't all that detailed, tapping the text in the storage settings works on pure AOSP ROMs but not in Sense.
The file explorer doesn't add up, and I feel that there are a lot of unused files there that were left over from previous ROM installs.

[POSSIBLE SOLUTION]
I was able to find this video that seems like it will do exactly what I want.
I'm going to try it later tonight and I will report back. Its basically just wiping the internal SD Card through TWRP (or choice recovery) and sideloading the Zipped ROM back to the phone. A bit riskier than I would like, but it seems like it will do the trick. Thanks for all the help though
Okay, so by following the video tutorial by TheSmokingAndroid found HERE I was able to clear out the space. Here is an "after" screenshot for comparison. This is a fresh install of ARHD 12.2 with only the Google apps installed.
I hope this helps some people regain the space lost in the 4.1 to 4.2.2 transition.
MODs - Please mark this thread as "solved" as it has fixed my original issue. Thanks

so this is how you fix it
1- get EX Explorer (or any Root Explorers) you have to be Rooted
2- go to your Root folder wich means "/"
3- there is a folder called "Storage"
4- inside there is 3 folders
5- if you will flash ARHD 12.2 i suggest you to delete every thing in that folder (it will delete your files like music, documents,,,etc)
6- if this didnt work your can install RUU and it will fix it

[Q] Installing apps on KitKat 4.4.4

Hi guys
I've done a fair bit of searching but still cannot find the full and final answer to this question. I'm getting mixed answers which seem to be confusing me more and more.
I've installed Evervolv's 4.4.4 (non DM) on my TP and can install apps but only onto my internal storage. I believe KitKat doesn't allow you to install apps to external storage (i.e. Sd cards), however I believe the SD cardfix that you can download from the play store allows you to fix this.
I've installed it and ran it - which now says all is good but I still cannot seem to install apps to my sd card. I've got 6gb+ waiting to be used whereas I can only install a couple on my internal storage.
Any help would be great. If I need to install another ROM to get this functionality then please let me know which.
Thanks in advance

Best way/ROM to save space?

I'm looking to help my mum's moto g 2014, she can't install any app updates and is having constant problems because their Moto G 2014 is out of available space, and none of the apps which are using the most amount of space will move to an SD card.
To help fix this I was looking at installing a Marshmallow based ROM that could use an SD card as internal storage, however having read on here for a little bit it seems like they're all a bit too experimental to expose to a non-geek. Does anyone have any specific suggestions before I just start trying different stuff? If it helps at all it was bought unlocked in the UK, I don't have anymore details right now as I live in the US and won't be over till next week.
1.If it is rooted, use link2sd to move all the internal apps (even the ones occupying large space) to ur sd card, the app will move everything including app data and obb to the sd card
... 2.The aosp build of marshmallow is said to be working in single sim moto g2 devices (I have a dual sim and so ril doesn't work) , take a nandroid backup and flash aosp m and check it, or if you want to be on the safer side use link2sd app
3. Use system App remover to remove unwanted system Apps which are not used eg Google Books, google music player (use another player that use lesser space) etc .. /requires Root /

Desire 510 on FreedomPop ... Out of Storage ... Help ... Kernel? Custom ROM?

FreedomPop now sells the HTC Desire 510. I bought it for my daughter thinking that 4GB would be enough storage for her, but when I ran my first round of app updates, the phone's storage filled up! I checked it out and there is so much bloat on the phone, that it can't be usable for a little girl who might want to install an app or game or two.
I have rooted it and tried Link2SD, but it won't auto mount an ext3 or ext4 partition on boot and therefore, the apps moved to the SD card can't be found when the phone boots.
I'm assuming the problem is with the kernel.
Ordinarily I would just put a custom ROM on a phone and be done with it, but FreedomPop uses some unique network settings that make it difficult to just replace a ROM.
My question is whether anyone has this phone on FreedomPop and what you are doing to make it into a usable phone?
Are you using a custom kernel?
If you are using a custom ROM, how did you configure the FreedomPop settings?

I'm trying to do the same thing myself. I've tried a couple of kernels. I can get the Link2SD to work but then the front camera won't work.
There are several recommendations to use Rhinestone. So I tried the latest version of that but it breaks the WIFI for me and that won't due for freedompop.
I'll keep trying but nothing works the way I would like so far.

No. Apparently, no one has figured this out.
RaptorSense 7
From testing, RaptorSense 7 seems to be the most stable ROM
Link2SD is mostly functional. The only issue, is with the 2nd partition mount script, and thus, the linking features. This is an s-on related issue.
Move to SD works GREAT. but, there is much potential here.
The only other issue, is you must change your wireless settings to global as the preferred network, by holding down the mobile data setting until it's advanced settings pop up, and selecting global as preferred network. This is what I have read from the only other person I have found to post about testing this rom on this device. My HTC Desire 510 is not activated. So I could not test the connectivity and data first hand beyond wifi.
Everything else seems to work.
We need to figure out s-off for this device, or we are kinda stuck with just the simple features of Link2SD, and still stuck with some bloatwear, some of which are discontinued HTC Research products. At least on the Raptor Sense 7 rom..
Solution ~ It Worked for Me
First, I am very new to rooting, so I really have no idea what I'm talking about, but I had this problem yesterday, and I no longer have it.
With that in mind, I was having the same issue, and tried a ton of different random things that didn't work. I basically came to the conclusion that the issue had something to do with the kernel. Anyways, I still don't really know what a kernel is, but I read somewhere that in order to mess with settings like these, you had to flash a sprint kernel with the write protection removed.
I did this by following the instructions from the following forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/des...print-virgin-mobile-stock-desire-510-t2958969
At any rate, I'm pretty sure this is what did it for me (although I may have done some other things that I didn't understand / can't remember) and I hope it works for you too!
Best of luck
Edit:
By "it worked for me", I mean that Link2SD is now able to mount the ext2 partition that I created on my microSD at boot.
I'm in the same boat - does anyone have any ideas on how to make this freedompop 510 a little more useful? I don't have room to do anything. Thank you!
Is there a way to get more space in the data partition without having to use Link2SD? The big problem with this phone is the overwhelming amount of bloatware.

Well, I added that kernel to my phone and I noticed the phone got super hot and the wifi stopped working. After rebooting, it got stuck in an unsolvable bootloop, bricking it without being able to fix it.
Raptor Sense 1.2
I have the Sprint variant of the HTC Desire 510 and everything is working plus the phone is for the first time usable and stable. Link2SD is able to mount ext2 partitions on this phone with no problem. No success with ext3 or ext4 partitions. I used the steps found here on xda to partition the microSD Card. Have tried many ROMs with varying results. Some things would work and others would not. Have settled on Raptor Sense 1.2 until something better comes out.
That's odd. I've tried 1.2 but I can't seem to get link2sd to work, but it works fine in version 1.0

Some stuff to get rid of, but it's not on the data partition so what good does it do you?

You can tell market apps to download on you sdcard.
http://addictiveblogs.com/how-to-move-all-android-apps-to-sd-card-without-rooting-device/
adb shell pm get-install-location
After Android Tools Update command
adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2
It does appear that you have to have enough space on your data partition before market will download app. It will then end up on your sdcard.
But the data partition still fills up. Don't know who is doing the filling.
I've been playing around with the linux redirect command to try to move some stuff to the sdcard.
see
ln -s <where to go in the future> <old place your are replacing>
work in progress for me.
& I haven't figured out how to do a backup of my system yet. Titanium backup want to backup to the data partition. Guess they want you to buy the pro version. Should just say it's a demo version.

Actually, found out my /storage/emulated/legacy partition is giving me out of storage too. lnk2sd showed:
/data
total 1.11gb used 0.99gb free 119mg
/storage/emulated/legacy
total 1.01gb used 0.99gb free 17.88mg
/storage/ext_sd
total 3.63gbused 74.19mb free 3.56gb
The location /storage/emulated/legacy
is what I see in setting > storage [ the first instance ]
17.89mg
seems this is the problem. Seems this is contains app profile information. This storage space increases when you go into the app and clear settings or ditch the app.
