Hi Geeks,
I am having limited knowledge in phone OS and computers, I downloaded the Rooting files from Designgears but when I run the oneclick.exe file it fails. Is that still the same process to root, I am not exactly getting what process should I follow to root my AT&T Note 3, I have rooted Note 2 before but that was really eary, this looks like to many things to do before rooting and that to it doesn't work. Appreciate if one of you can help me and provide me the best link to download proper root softwares and procedure. Thank you.
Regards,
Rankitt

Did you follow all the steps as listed? By any chance did your phone take the recent update from AT&T? If it did, the the RDLV method won't work to root your phone.

Others have claimed to be able to root the new update with Kingo. You can give that a shot but proceed with caution, as there have been concerns about it's security. Read twice and root once basically :good:
Yes, I'm a newbie.
Anyway, I just got my hands on my fresh Z1 and now I want to install some apk and games.
Then I come to know that unblocking gonna kill my 20MP camera.
Can I just use Binary's root method?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
And the root install asks for 534 firmware. How can I upgrade from my 257?
btw, I'm just a PC geek...not much into Smartphones so...speak clear and loud if possible '_'
No need to back up TA if you just want to root.

Thanks bro, some of these topics were really helpful to get the meaning of somethings.
But, honestly I dont find how to downgrade
Im using the flashtool alrdy. I've downloaded a generic FTF but srly...I dont know how/where to install it. hahaha
When I try to use Binary's .exe it doesn't work, and im guessing thats because I'm using a 257 version.
On the flashtool i tried :ninja: to click on the "root" button and on some "Force XXXX root" but it keeps giving me error msgs.
What step am I missing here?
edit: nevermind, I'm starting to understand everything. this is a whole new universe!

nah what you posted was enough.
I'm doing just fine now. Its just that you guys use to "skip" some noobish step/description and something goes wrong. This is normal after a while working/talking/using those sw/fw/apk all the time
ex: To install the dual recovery by @krabappel2548
I got the install prompt doing nothing, not even an error or message. Why? Because no1 told in the instructions to unplug my device before installing it. hahaha
But my Z1 is already pimped right now loaded of themes and tweaks as I wanted

What is the model number of your phone?
Mine is the N900A, which is not the model that is supported on the Kingo website.
They say it works on N9006.
I just want to make sure that it's the AT&T one that this works on.
Thanks!

Kingo may send your IMEI somewhere - and also some people have felt they don't get as good battery life after rooting with kingo. A safer way if you don't want to risk your information getting sent out is evilpotatoman's way.
But it is more work than just using kingo

The TOS that you have to agree to to install Kingo states that they send no data of any kind from your PC or Your phone. So if they do send your IEMI somewhere which does not really matter anyways since your IEMI is plastered on every cell tower you have ever connected to they would be in violation of their own TOS and could be sued.

How do you know? KK 4.4 is stock but just Rooted + Recovery.
1- Reboot your phone and when the Green Led appear Hold Volume Down to enter in TWRP.
2- Test if you have Root. Download ES3 Root Explorer, grant it by SuperSU, Mount System to R/W, make a file in system folder.
Did you do that?

Stop this NOW! vroot is not a safe method to root, that sends your imei number to people in China never use that.
Also the [NUT] method ALREADY include root with XZDualRecovery stop wasting your time by rooting with another method that's useless.
That makes me nut that people came here and ask help when they only follow step they want instead the full process, no no and no!
So follow the FULL process and you won't have any problem.
It's ok

I was using App2sd script too but the things on Z1 are more complicated, thanx Google, so at the moment the only efficient method is to use Folder Mount.

As I said, nowhere is told that XZDualRecovery Root your phone and you did right, like many instructions saying. That the recovery grant Root I hear first time yestarday from QualQuek and gregbradley, just don't understand why every instruction say to root with different method if that is the quickest way. BTW, best method to Root, exept DualRecovery, the .534 FW is Bin4ry Method. Also IMEI lost was reported many times, but good you are fine, next time you know what you have to do, it's time learning.

So according to the list, flashing 534fw is supported for the root so that will root the phone.
If you follow exactly [NUT]'s method you'll have the latest fw rooted.
You'll never lost your IMEI by following the [NUT]'s method for the simply reason that you start by flashing a full stock 534fw, that's the way to recover the lost IMEI as well or using SUS if the flashing didn't work.

Darling, it is not the main method to Root the phone, I am almost 6 months here try understanding the best way to do it, as it was my intentions, and was never, i mean NEVER, recommended to Root with recovery, but with Bin4ry. Yes, recovery grant root, but this not make my sentence WRONG.

Grow up please, i'm not here to debate with you about what is the best method/option for rooting the phone, you said a wrong thing i've corrected it so don't react like a kid.
Also when you follow exactly the [NUT]'s method the root is included and it's the safe way to root your phone. I don't focus on my personal opinion, i focus on the best option, the [NUT]'s method is the best option.

Probably because I used to recommend Bin4rys method until [NUT] implemented this into his Dual Recovery script.
Now I recommend doing it by dual recovery because using bin4rys method is obsolete now and is an extra step that is not needed.
@eclyptos, there is no two ways about it, advising rooting by bin4ry then installing dual recovery is overkill and not needed, again, its all about learning what these individual processes do to your phone and not what the end product is...
You could recommend leaving it on charge for 24 hours before each step to make sure its at least 50% charged. It does not mean its a wrong instruction, just that's its not needed.
Ok,Ok.

Lol.. Glad u know that some firmware is capable of getting root on lb
I used to go with the stuff like messing with post boot scripts _ enabling, editing them on my own...and some other developmental stuff... Theoretically if I get a bootloop.. I need to flash the firmware again instead of getting it solved... And if I need an upgrade It will be hell of a hecky thing ''''''
I know about backingup ta partition(Drm) bla bla things which is unique to every device......yes lollipop sucks but not anymore with xposed!! Thanks
Can I know about the device performance I mean Heat issues!!!
