I'm not allowed to post a direct link yet, so you'll have to search for "Audiour for Chromecast" on the Play Store or Github.
What is it?
Audiour is a free, open, and anonymous audio sharing platform that let's anyone quickly and easily share files without any hassles like forcing you to create an account or wade through banner ads.
Audiour for Chromecast is an beta-release app for Android that let's you explore interesting content on Audiour and play them either on your phone or tablet, or send them to your TV using a Chromecast device. You can also share content with friends, which plays instantly if they also have the app installed.
It's built using Audiour.com's public API and the source code is available on Github.com
How do I use it?
At the moment, the Chromecast functionality only works if you either have your Chromecast rooted with Kyocast installed, or it's white listed and you can upload the receiver to your white listed URL. Instructions to setup the receiver can be found on Github or in the app's settings screen.
If you just want to playback files on your local device, everything should work as expected.
Wouldn't it be cool if it did...
Why yes, I agree that feature sounds fantastic. I'm extremely open to feedback/suggestions/criticism/praise and would love to hear from you. You can email me at [email protected] and I will try to respond ASAP. Also, if there are any features you'd love to see, let me know. Also, I will gladly take a look at pull requests if you want to contribute.
I have plans to support uploading music shortly, for now just go to Audiour.com, it's nice and responsive and very mobile friendly. I'm also working with the site's founder to add the ability to save a list of your favorite tracks.
Very nice to see this released to the public.
Good work and I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future! Definitely going to have a play around with this.
Awesome app nathanrjones!

Thanks for the feedback guys!
I want to re-iterate that I definitely appreciate any feedback and if there's anything you think could be changed or improved, I will definitely look into it.
If you think it's great as is, sharing it with your friends or leaving a positive review on the Play Store would be awesome.
cant wait to play around with this.
thanks

Hi all,
I am in the process of writing a cool little app to play songs on your Roku Soundbridge device. It is working very basically at the moment, but you can play a song and see what Albums are on the server.
I am an old hat at coding, but new to Android's SDK, so I want to OpenSource my app in order to let some people with much more experience "fine tune" it.
What is the best way to do this, so that everyone can get access to the bits and bobs?

Seriously tha gonna be dope

Will upload the Android Eclipse project now... please dont slate my code, this was a 2 hour hack.
I think you can get more feedback and code review from www.anddev.org, so you might try posting a link over there. xda Dream forums tend to be more hardware-hacking oriented.
Code is uploaded - it is the folder from my Eclipse workspace.
Lets see if we can make this a sweet app! I will also place our efforts in the Marketplace, no fee, as I already have an account.

First off, I'd like to say hi and I hope all of you are doing well. I come to you in request for some support as well as an offering that some of you should be able to benefit from.
I've been working hard as possible to produce a website for Android tablet users, which is 100% free of charge. No catches, no gimmicks, no nothing. Before anyone flips out thinking I am advertising, consider this: I could have dropped a link and left. But I didn't I'm here, explaining my cause, and letting you know that there is a wonderful resource that you did not know about, and should enjoy!
Anyways, the website is www.androidtabapps.com (and I won't even link it here! unless a mod says I can) and its sole purpose is to become the internet's largest database of applications that are specifically designed to work on Android tablets. This website will benefit each and every one of you who own an Android tablet because you won't have to sort through hundreds of non-tablet-optimized applications to find something good.
My request from any of you (and its ONLY a request), is that if any of you have, or know of, an application that is designed FOR an Android tablet, to please use the submission form located on my site so that I may add it? I am doing all of this work by hand and while I admit that it's painstakingly time consuming, I am enjoying myself while adding the applications because I am finding some really cool stuff so far.
I look forward to seeing some of you on the site. Pay it a visit, let me know what you think so far. Thanks!
Mine, just in case I need it for something in the future.
As a promotional offering for any application developer:
If you are a developer who has created an application that is written to run specifically on Android tablets, or is WELL optimized for Android tablets, please contact me using the form on my site to receive a 7-day free featured advertisement on my site. Mention XDA somewhere, please. The featured advertisement of your application will be found in the big slider at the top of the home page among other pages. This is limited to the first three developers who contact me, so act fast! Android Tablet Apps is already getting good traffic and I'd love to help some of you developers out a bit!
I'm offering free ad placements for 7 days for the next 3 developers to contact me with information regarding their Android tablet app that's on the market!
Thanks, this will be very useful for me!
I'll let you know if I have any Tablet Apps.

Your three favorites are also the ones that never end. I imagine having to constantly retrieve episodes would be a pain, not to mention the space requirements...
Installed, I haven't tried downloading but the streaming works great!
Great ****ing app I love anime I will see how it works
That's a pretty good idea, I love animes too so let's see if this app is useful.

Download and Video play both stuck for me forever. Any Geo location Criteria ?
Wow what a fantastic app! Will you be adding features to rewind and fast forward? (maybe they're implemented and I just didn't see where). Also, how about adding dubbed anime's as well? Lastly, do you accept donations? I like supporting developers who create apps I enjoy such as this one to hopefully see it getting continually updated!
Thanks

There are exceptions of course, but these exceptions are so rare that there is no reason to include dubs. The producers don't care who they hire for english voice actors, and it shows.
The only acceptable compromise is if the videos have two separate audio streams, so you can manually select english if you really feel the need to...

Sorry if I missed it, but besides using the chromecast supported app (play music, Netflix, play movies, and YouTube), what else can you do to control your chromecast with your android phone or tablet?
Is there anyway to get the Google cast extension for chrome for android?
Ultimately I would like to be able to stream Pandora over chromecast via my nexus 7.

No, at this current moment in time, there is no Android Chrome browser support. I hope that answered your question.
PS: If I were you. I would close and lock this thread, before the Trolls and self-righteous folk come out of the woodwork. I enjoy helping people, but others....not so much, and I think this was mentioned somewhere else on here as well. Just attempting to save you any heartache!
Thanks for responding. I just got my chrome cast today and really haven't been following the discussion on here. I did scroll down and read the top 20-30 posts and didn't see anything specific to android in the title thus why I posted.
If people want to troll on me, so be it. I don't see the point in posting just to say do a search, etc.
But thanks again for confirming my suspicion that nothing yet exists. Hopefully they have something soon as that would be a major let down.

Also, extension support in general isn't built into chrome for android...yet
Like the others said, as of now, it is a bit limited. But that was the intent, release it and let the developers dream up what the community wants. Look up Koushik Dutta on Google+ to see a glimpse of what is to come ... local file streaming, RSS video feeds, cloud service streaming, etc.
Koushik just posted this on his g+ page:
Heads up. Google's latest Chromecast update*intentionallybreaks AllCast. They disabled 'video_playback' support from the ChromeCast application.Given that this is the second time they've purposefully removed/disabled[1] the ability to play media from external sources, it confirms some of my suspicions that I have had about the Chromecast developer program:The policy seems to be a heavy handed approach, where only approved content will be played through the device. The Chromecast will probably not be indie developer friendly. The Google TV team is only prepared with media companies.I'd strongly suggest holding off on buying a Chromecast until we can see how Google chooses to move forward on third party applications. There are also other (open) platforms and stacks that one could buy/support as well. (LeapCast, NodeCast, etc)

We've known this from the beginning. And btw, it isn't that it is not indie developer friendly, it is that is not going to be hackable friendly. Google has to keep the device locked down if they want to big media companies to bring their content to it. That doesn't mean smaller companies can't develop for it. I don't see any reason Google will not approve of indie developer apps. It's just they aren't going to kill the product by making it completely open. Netflix and every other media company would leave in about a second if they did that.

Why are you talking about hackable friendly?
Koushik didn't hack the device, he just released an app for the device. And he did it without using Chromecast SDK. So if what Koushik said is true then yes, it is not indie developer friendly.
If Google decide to don't make it open in order to keep big media companies supporting the device, I'm sure that lot of potential customers will decide to not buy the Chromecast.
Let's see what happens.

That isn't true. He used a hack to get around the whitelist app restrictions. He wasn't using the API in a standard way. He's making a lot of assumptions based on Google closing 2 holes in the latest update. I see no reason Google will disallow apps that work using the official API when it is final.

I doubt that is true. Maybe some geeks around here. But not the general public. They will buy it to stream Netflix, Pandora, etc from their phone. There aren't many people actually wanting to stream downloaded movies from their phone/tablet. That is not the target audience buying it at Best Buy.
