Graphic errors in Chrome - Asus Transformer TF701

Hi everybody,
I have strange graphic errors in Chrome - sometimes, I see black squares:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",

}
Does not happen with other browsers. Anyone else experiencing this?

No Chrome issues here. I used Chrome exclusively today to make sure.

Chrome installed right after i synched Smartphone and Tablet, so im using Chrome since i have the Tablet, and i never had any issues with it. Maybe reinstall?( or are there maybe flash objects supposed to be at that place?)

I have the same issues. I usually will reboot when I start seeing that.

It might be the case that it only occurs on some websites, but the squares move, so it can't simply be the case that it's there should be flash content. I'll try figuring our whether there's a pattern...

I can confirm this problem, does happen on tagesschau.de for example. Maybe it's a problem with the german language version? There is also a bug in the german keyboard layout of the ASUS onscreen keyboard, it does show comma (,) and full stop (.) twice. In the english layout there's a ? and a ! instead. Seems to me that Asus did not do much testing with international versions...

Does it make any difference if you check or uncheck the "show desktop site" box in the settings menu? I would also suggest clearing out chrome's cookies, history, temp files, etc. If that doesn't fix it, clear data and cache for chrome. If that doesn't work, Uninstall and reinstall Chrome.

I've performed a cold reboot for another reason (wakeup delay) I read somewhere else here in the forum, since then the squares did not reappear. Curious if it will remain like this. If not I'll try your suggestions!

I performed the cold boot for the same reason and now I don't remember if I did the boot before or after I tested Chrome for you... So, yeah, could be the cold boot fixed that as well as the wake-up delay (which has NOT come back, by the way.) Thanks again to whomever it was suggested that cold boot - I'm too lazy to go back and find the thread so I can thank the poster properly. I did, however, click the Thanks button.

Hi, I had the same problem but it seems it disappeared with FW update.
I am running 10.26.1.7 now.
But due to incorrect FW pushed OTA by ASUS I had to wipe the device so I can`t be sure. Anyway I have the same apps as before so I think it was FW issue...

After rebooting the TF701 those black squares are gone. To me it looks like a problem with HTML 5 Video or animated GIFs, because at the xda homepage especially showed this issue.

I had these too before the bogus OTA update, which I then had to wipe and not had it since. Seemed to happen on any websites I was on but happened randomly.

[Q] Annoying phantom wallpaper problem

Ok so as of the 26th every now and again I get what looks like a screen shot of my wall paper with my home screens shrunken down on it, show up as my wallpaper.
Bloody thing just shows up on it's own and trends to go away after I've launched and shut down some apps (most commonly and reliably games)
My normal wall paper looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And the phantom wallpaper looks like this:
Those shrunken home screens in the middle are not "touchable" they do nothing, and They're there in landscape mode as well:
It also sort of shows up in the background of games.. But oddly enough, only the shrunken homescreens..
Any suggestions of what might be causing it?
Or how to stop it happening again?
**Edit: Oh yeah it's the ADWLauncher
Also no custom ROM/Kernel and no root since the LA4 update
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
Very odd!
Is that ADW Launcher? And are you running a custom rom?
Oh yeah, forgot to mention that bit... Yes it's ADWlauncher
No ROM and no root since the LA4 update
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
Man I have no idea, tried googling for a bit and couldn't find anything.
Do games run okay, no other graphical glitches? (So we can rule out GPU issue.)
Did you try to uninstall and re-install ADW? Maybe even clear its backup and other files on the SD. (Maybe some old file is messing things up.)
Does it happen on stock launcher as well? (So we can test if it's ADW or something else)
When you experience this, and you rotate the device, do the "phantoms" switch to the bottom? I can see them on the bottom in landscape mode in your pics. (No idea why, but I'm just interested)
Maybe changing the number of homescreens helps? (Maybe it'll reset something)
I'm firing in the dark here, hope it helps your troubleshoot.
Have tried resetting the launcher and also resetting and clearing it's data, it keeps coming back.
Will uninstall it next and see if it happen in stock
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
Yeah, it's ADW. It pops up when i press the home button on the default homescreen. Very annoying, and i haven't found a way to deactivate it.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Stock doesn't do it, so yeah it's the other launcher.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
Hmm interesting.
I uninstalled the ADW launcher and it went away, I then reinstalled it so that I would know if it was updated, but left the touchwiz active... And the bloody thing has come back!
How weird is that...?!?
It's now happening in touchwiz, but only when ADW launcher is installed... But not necessarily being used...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
Aww crap.
I've uninstalled ADW launcher and now it's still there.
Now I'm concerned the device might be b0rked :-(
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
Ok I rebooted after uninstalling the other launcher and launched a few high end games and fiddled around for a bit and it's now not showing up

Did you do any dpi modifications?
If all else fails, a full wipe should probably fix it
If it still has this problem afterwards you should get it returned

Ah
Did you do a hard/factory reset?
Maybe there is a Samsung service center near you?
http://www.samsung.com/sg/support/location/supportServiceLocation.do?page=SERVICE.LOCATION
So far , since the uninstall and following reboot its now behaving itself...
Will keep an eye out.
just FYI it looks like the Dev for ADW Launcher Ex has stopped working on it.
Now I have to try and find a launcher that is acceptable to use.. TouchWiz is utter rubbish.
Haha, that link you gave me only works on Us addresses.. I'm in Australia ;-)
Go Launcher isn't too bad, quite snappy. The problem doesnt show up with Go launcher Ex either.
I'm missing some features... like being able to asign transparent gif as an icon etc... but I'll keep playing.

Reason for the stuttering?

Hello everyone.
I have a little theory on scrolling lag on our XZ.
After browsing XDA for a while using Tapatalk 4 Beta, i've noticed something. Scrolling through a long thread only having text is no problem. There is no/barely stuttering. That made me observe the behaviour a while. If there's images, the device starts to break down. Scrolling suddenly gets slow and stuttering because pictures are not loading fast enough. It's not just tapatalk. Hell it's even the play store. I can scroll to the bottom of the front page without every seeing any pictures, they are simply loading too slow (causing the device to lag). I've tried youtube and a few other apps, same case.
This is happening on all roms. No matter what i've tried. Every stock rom (from .350 to .423), every CM / AOSP based rom. The result is always the same. Now why is it that images load so slow? It can't be my internet. I'm on wifi and my internet connection is more than fine as you can tell from the picture :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Does anyone have a clue how to resolve this issue? Or maybe atleast confirm my theory?
I've found some tweaks, i will try them later and see if they do any good (which i doubt, because most of the are bull****).
I'm using PAC Custom 0724
Clock Speeds : 384 - 1512
IO : Row
Governor : Interactive
Class 10 Sandisk SD
Please report if you are experiencing the same, or have any opinion on this matter.
Yeah, I used a HTC one recently and there is no such lag there. So I'd like to know how to fix this too. (the HTC one was at a store)
You can fix it by editing framework.jar and disabling scrolling cache.

There is lot of tutorials here in xda just search for smooth scrolling mod.

Another (well easier & safer) solution could be just add this one line in build.prop:
persist.sys.scrollingcache=4
(1=cache always on // 2=cache on many times // 3=cache off many times // 4=cache always off)
Reboot and wait 4 minutes.

Maybe you wish also add the following lines, after backup the original build.prop:
debug.performance.tuning=1
video.accelerate.hw=1
ro.min_pointer_dur=1
Finally, where is written:
debug.composition.type=dyn
You could change it to:
debug.composition.type=gpu (but this last change perhaps isn't ideal for some apps, and maybe it uses more battery than the default "dyn" option).
Keep in mind that a butter experience is a goal very difficult to achieve. I think that one reason why many users prefer some other launchers is that stock launcher is one of the few ones that support Sony advanced (and heavy) widgets. More heavy widgets (I'm sad to admit it) means more lags.
i get scrolling lag in settings lol.
also, if scrolling cache enabled messes with the smoothness of scrolling, why did the manufacturer enable it by default?
my understanding is having cache enabled will consume more RAM, but allows smoother scrolling?
just a bit confused because i have read a lot of different things

Sorry to say that, but I'm restoring the original stock. I've tried many, many mods in build.prop, and although I saw some improvements, they're little ones, so I'll wait for the smoother Android 4.3 and its 1080p full support (with faster redraw and OpenGl ES 3.0).

i really only use the tab for development work (CM/systems, etc.) and it's currently the only device I support (I may pick up a TK-1 in the near future to add on).
don't really use tabs these days so much in leisure; just a phone primarily.

It's all good. We're getting a whole new version of android that will probably never be officially released for this tablet. So it's either wait forever on nothing or wait a little longer for lollipop. I'll take the latter. Thanks again for all your work on this tab. It wouldn't be the same without CM.
Wish we could duplicate pershoot so he had more time....
I can't believe pershoot has been able to do so much for us already, especially if he isn't using the tf701t as a daily driver anymore. Thankyou!
I just wish we could duplicate him enough times that he wouldn't have anything else to do but update my tablet to lollipop - selfish lil'ole'me.

Choppy performance..?

I'm using the new p30 pro from last 2 days and I'm noticing very choppy performance. For example, on the YouTube app, when you press the full screen icon, you'll see the animation in frames before it enlarges the video.. Some scrolling on chrome browser too, I have noticed a lot of choppy frames. Not sure if I'm missing some performance setting or if everyone else also is noticing this..? I'm on 118 version.
I have 2 P30 Pro and on MI 9 and P30 Pro ist very fast on all time, Apps, Games, Not have single problem. Antutu 321.000 and apps open or YouTube is all fast.

Faulty device or you have a software bug. Try factory reset then if its the same ask for a replacement

No, from that you realise its the app that is not optimized. At least if the benchmark doesn't lie. And maybe you look at earlier comments, i was not the first one to post antutu score and only posted that to show that its not a faulty unit.

I saw on reddit, that people recommended some alternatives, but honestly i don't have any idea what are they talking about.
And another thing, when i have active AOD, screen is kinda greenish, on andorid 9 was barely visible, but on 10 is glowing AF, so i had to turn it off.

There is an alternative in the Recents Menu..
If you press the app icon in the upper left corner for a long time, a menu appears.
Select the popup window and there it is again...[emoji6]
It's moveable and you can resize it to a floating icon.
The only thing that no longer works is to adjust the transparency...

Manz, gotta say it really works great! Battery life got even better and the experience is much smoother.
Only issue I seem to have is, that if I touch near the top end of the screen (near the cameras) , it often misinterprets the touch and starts to slide down the notification bar.... Haven't experienced this before.

Manz, gotta say it really works great! Battery life got even better and the experience is much smoother.

Weird feature, makes the top part of the screen useless, can't say the g7 with Android 10 has this bug either... Even though it has a similar cutout...
Might know where to post this on LG support as a bug?

But I said that in my g7 with Android 10 this is not an issue. It works as before, as expected. Not like this joke here. But yeah the g7 has several other bugs...
