Hello, I was thinking about buying a Moto X from the motomaker website on Monday when it is $150 off. Now i need to know if I will be able to use a Canadian credit card to order it. I will be shipping it to the border to pick it up so shipping isn't an issue. Also i would like to know if the T-Mobile version comes unlocked so i will be able to use it on Bell when i get it.
The US Motorola website doesn't accept Canadian credit cards... I tried ordering one two weeks ago but couldn't proceed through checkout with my Canadian credit card. Livechat with a Motorola rep informed me that they only accept US credit cards, even if you're shipping the phone to the USA. So frustrating.

I remember there being a way that people tricked google music into thinking they were using an american credit card, maybe the same thing will work?

Hello, I live in Argentina and I'm travelling in 2 weeks to the US, I wanted to buy the Dev Edition HTC One, so I got into the US HTC Online Store and bought it ( $654.94 ). Today I received an email telling me the order was cancelled. Asked why and they told me because my IP address was from outside the US and I needed a US credit card. I fought for a long time with the support and they told me I couldn't buy it.
Now I'm wondering where else I can buy the Dev Edition HTC One 64Gb and don't end up paying almost $900 for it.

You can only purchase the dev edition through the online shop with a US credit card and address. Without them, HTC would not accept your order.

I have the US address, but my credit card is international, I don't really understand why they don't let international credit cards buy phones.
Also, do you know of another way of obtaining the Dev Edition that it's not eBay (since I can't confirm my PayPal account and have the 500 dollars limit). Thanks for your data!
You could probably use some package forwarding company, such as comgateway, myus, and choose the 'buy for me' service.
The total cost including shipments should be under or nearly US$800.

Why would I need a package forwarding company? I have the address, but I need to find the way to buy it using my international credit card, any ideas? Thanks for response!
I understand your concern. However, HTC online shop accepts ONLY a US credit card. They would cancel your order if you were using an international one.
If you really want to get the dev edition, that's the only way apart from eBay. Even the retail stores, they only sell the 32GB version.

I want the Developer Edition just because of the 64Gb of storage. I've contacted Shopamerica.htc.com and I'll wait for them to answer if there's ANY chance of doing it with an international or I guess I'll just have to ask an aunt I have in the US to buy me the phone with her credit card and I'll find a way to transfer her the money. Really appreciate your responses! Thanks a lot man!
You're welcome. I hope this information will be useful to you.
if you have an address in the USA do you happen to have someone you know in there? maybe borrow credit card of somone who lives in USA and you pay them directly

Since they've subtracted the $654.94 and then refunded it to me, my aunt will try to buy it using my international credit card and check if the credit card was the initial problem or just the IP address.
Also, do someone know an online way to give her the money or to deposit that it's effective?

Use her credit card
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Go to you bank and transfer it to hers. Either online or call into your local branch.

Thought about that but in my country we have another currency. If I buy something in dollars from eBay, I pay it in Pesos Argentinos and (I don't know if it's PayPal or the credit card bank) changes to US dollars.. I wonder if there's a way I can do that but without her having a PayPal account.
Hi guys.. i tried ordering the moto x after getting my promo code today and it won't accept my international credit card. I'm living in UAE.. I have a friend whose ready to bring the phone but its not acceting my card. Nor does paypal option seem available. Is there anyway i can work around this?

You can try calling their sales reps. I don't know if you're eligible, but you could potentially apply for a credit account through motorola. Not sure if they allow non US residents to do that though.

Are they not accepting the card because it's not Visa/MC/Disc/Amex, or is it one of those but issued through an international branch? If it's something else, can you purchase a Visa prepaid card and use that?

The MotorolaSupport twitter account said on Monday that they don't accept any non-US credit card orders.
Any Idea when this will happen. Currently my AT&T store (Orlando, Fl.) only carries 3 colors and all in 16gb. They said you need to do motomaker to get 32gb, but they aren't doing it yet!!! Any ideas??
Go to motorola.com to use the moto maker for at&t . What they mean about not doing it yet is probably them not doing it in store.
It's only available for $149 puchase contract or $549 full price. I want the AT&T next upgrade price.

AT&T motomaker was available at device launch. September 16th.
Go through the steps to put it in your cart on the site and you'll be shown options near the end from ATT regarding your plan.
My daughter tried to purchase a PIN to build the X from an AT&T corporate store in Merrillville IN today (10/12/14) and was told that it is "coming soon". She wants to upgrade on her existing 2 year contract because she is grandfathered into a very low rate per month with unlimited data.
Has anyone actually purchased one using this method?
I've seen various dates, all this month, that in-store codes are supposed to become available. Keep trying them unless you are willing to go with what is offered.
Hi, I want to get the Nexus 6 unlocked model before 12/25 and I can't buy it from the Play Store because they don't accept international credit cards and I don't live in the US, I've tried Motorola but they never have phones in stock, I've tried to get information on when will they get stock by chatting with several Motorola representatives but none of them have gave me information about that, and I don't want to spend $700+ on a page like Amazon or eBay, what can I do to buy and get the phone before 12/25?

welcome! I suggest you add to Santa's list.
Lots of folks with the $700+ in hand can't even lay hands on a device. Not even from those sites you are running away from.
Out of a unicorn's rear end. Seriously, they're that understocked. If you aren't in the US, your only options are Play store, carriers and Ebay (and it's like). Since the play store is out, and Moto isn't selling them directly outside the US, your only options are to get one before Christmas is to hope you luck out and can get one from a carrier, or suck it up and go on Ebay.

Actually I can ship the phone in the US, the problem is that Play Store or Motorola accept a international credit card! Think there is a way to buy it from the Play Store with that credit card or that Motorola gets stock and ships it before Christmas?
If you are actually in the US, try seeing if you can snatch one up from carriers? Or consider maybe getting a US credit card? If they don't take international credit cards then there's really nothing you can do on that front. Unfortunately Google has a lot of restrictions by region and there isn't really any effective way to circumvent it.
You could try swappa, but the price are higher. I sold one on swappa last thursday late night, i shipped it friday via priority and it arrived yesterday, thats more faster than GPS or motorola

I intend to purchase the Nexus 6, Midnight Blue, 32 GB at full retail price and maintain my unlimited data plan on Verizon. Does it matter where I purchase the phone? What should I keep in mind?
Google Store
Motorola.com
Verizon Wireless
Best Buy
Amazon
You will be able to keep your unlimited data, and since the nexus only comes in two models (international and US) any one you purchase from a us seller will work. I'm even rocking an AT&T nexus on Verizon as we speak.
Be careful...

Noted. Verizon dislikes non-VZW devices. The phone will work, but they may choose not to honor any discounts.
Are there any drawbacks to purchasing from Verizon?

I purchased my white 64gb Nexus 6 through Google to be able to keep my unlimited plan as well. The device does show up as a non vzw device though. It's easy to make changes to the plan if you're adding (meaning more money for them) but to removing options (less money for them) is where it gets tricky. Really in my opinion it just depends on the rep you talk to. Long story short, about two weeks ago I called to add international calling to my plan, the rep offered me a plan they no longer have. When I realized she added the wrong plan I called back and the guy said he couldn't remove the options that were added and needed to submit a ticket and I would receive a call back when it's all taken care of. After a week of hearing nothing I called back and was talking to a guy who was really helpful. He removed and changes that were made to my account, but did say that having the Nexus 6 come up as a non vzw device made it a little tricky to remove the options but nothing that couldn't be done.
I have unlimited data on VZW, and I bought 64gb blue off Play Store. I didn't want any tie to VZW because when my invite for Google FI comes, I just may go that route.
I went into company-owned store (not a retailer) for new SIM card. Was a bit of a "hassle" insofar as all the reps were all clueless as to how to give me a SIM card when the device ID was not in their database. They tried to shuffle me off to customer service, but I made them call customer service with me in the store. The tech support rep went into the same bootloop (can't give you a card and get the device registered if the device id is not in the database) but eventually, they figured out they just needed to insert SIM card and it would activate itself. I found I had to be pleasant but assertive to get it done, as they seemed to be unwilling to just hand over a SIM card, which is all they needed to do.

You were lucky that you found some reasonable reps to deal with. Many VZW representatives will flat out refuse to give you a SIM if the IMEI is not in their system.

It looked like it was heading that way, but I was assertive in saying that I know it could be done and that is when we got the phone to tech support. I suggested we use the SIM card they had in front of me and ask tech support to get it going while I was in the store, and eventually it all worked out after the tier 1 tech support guy took the initiative to look some things up.
Point is, be polite but firm, don't take "no" for an answer. There is a difference in software (although what, I don't know, but I didn't want anything other than pure google on my phone), so it was worth the minor hassle to me.
