[Q] Unroot phone without losing files - LG Optimus 4X HD

Does someone know a way to unroot the LG 4x HD (p880) without losing all my stuff

what rom are you running stock only root?

Rom
Iam running a stock rom rooted

no. factory reset.

yes there is.
if you can't unroot via the app (SuperSU), just reflash kdz. it will preserve all programs & data, but your system files will be reverted to stock (which means it will unroot you)

the answer is universal unroot apk.

[Q]Reset Factory Default Firmware

Hi there.. recently i've updated my firmware to v10e.. When i tried a new kernel, it got bootloop and had to divert to latest cwm backup..
Then i realised, the backup cwm is v10d version. When i tried update through LG Updater, the software detects that currently im up-to-date.
So, is there any way to reset the factory default firmware so that i can update? :-?
Current settings:-
- NeoBlaze 120811
- Stock v10d, rooted

I have a similar question...I think.
I want to revert my phone to the original LG rom, I am on FIDO in Canada...
I looked at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041
But wasn't sure which one to pick...
so my question is:
how can I revert my phone to the original state that it came in when I got it from Fido?
I've tried using NVFlash.. but still the "factory default firmware" is the latest.. hurmm..

I think you will have to smartflash an older baseband (pre0725) , then you can use the lg updater.

I also think thats the solution.
By restoring your backup, you mixed two ROM versions. Now you currently use 10d + the baseband from 10e (since CWM backup/restore cant handle basebands) - that's why LG updater doesn't work.
Flash the corresponding BB for 10d, if that doesn't work then returning to 10a and updating from there on might work. (Caution: BB flashing wipes your device, do a nandroid backup before!)

Version updating question

Hi all,
OB with 2.3.4, rooted, CWM, ROM Manager and V20a firmware.
Want to upgrade to V20b.
1) What's the best method? eg: KDZ file, extract and smartflashtool.
2) Will my phone still be rooted after the upgrade?
3) Will my apps be lost after the upgrade?
TIA
Greg

Why do you wanna update? Root will be gone, except you inject cwm in the bin/fls files... Your data wont be lost, except for, you make a full wipe after flashing...

There is a posibility you will break your note, because of superbrick bug. Flash safe kernel like notecore.

better be safe than sorry.
I would agree to some of the advice here, flash it to a secure kernel like speedmod, CFroot or notecore. Did an upgrade before thru OTA but I never desire to factory reset my Note. It runs optimally fast even without doing the reset.
Regarding Root, there are no problems at all. Root it thru PC Odin. There is a guide created by Dr. Ketan's thread which will safely help you getting root on your phone.
Cheers!
Safe to root is to flash Notecore kernel using PC-Odin. Simple yet safe. Cherios. :good:

Unable to update Galaxy Note N7000

Hello,
I'm currently living in Chile and apparently Chile released the version 4.0.4. I tried updating my android version through kies and the phone updater and no luck :/ My phone is rooted and the kernel is [email protected]#2. I'm not sure if the inability to update is due to the fact I used a kernel from another country other than Chile (I think I used an Indian Kernel). Is there a way I can go back to the my original kernel and unroot to update normally? I also have the urge to unroot my phone since my music player has been crashing too often and feel that the problem originates from the rooting.
Note: I am a very new user and I don't know most, if not all, terms such as flashing.
Help is very much appreciated,
-Kathy
Why don't you directly update it from here ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Download the rom and flash it via mobile odin pro or pc odin As simple as that
Thank You! But...
Is there a way I can unroot my phone? Like going back to how I got my phone? Why isn't my phone able to update normally?

When you flash a rom using pc odin,u will be unrooted
Download the rom from above given thread and flash it using pc odin, you will be automatically unrooted
U cant possibly update due to a different version of kernel

When I flash my phone do I need a Pit file? Will this wipe all my music, apps, contacts, etc...? If I use a original chilean rom then my phone will be unrooted right?
Sorry for asking so many questions >.<

You don't need PIT files. Just Select rom file under PDA tab. No need to change any option. Just Start Flash.
And it will not erase your data on sdcard (internal or external)
Cheers
You need to backup your contacts, msgs and apps
Hope I am not to late, would be best to make efs backup before proceding, so you can always return to chili working rom. Its a backup of e.g. imei which is not easy to recover if accidentally lost.
How see toolbox thread dr ketan in general section. You need root for that. Save in multiple locations

How do I completely remove root and go back to stock?

Hi guys,
On my Razr i I am running ICS and rooted.
Can anyone tell me how to go back to complete stock and remove root and all data? Say if I wanted to sell the phone and put back to original.
Do I have to flash it using a tool? (like how Samsung use Odin etc)
Thank you all.
