Hi there I have been battling with a i9305 for a few days now . I stupidly thought I have worked on a i9300 it will be easy to do the same stuff to the i9305 but no .
So basically I am at this point: just flashed 4.1.1 from here: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/175851999/3bf33ec/I9305XXALI5_I9305EVRALI5_EVR.zip.html (the phone was on EE when I bought it in the UK)
Now i flashed back to 4.1.1 so I could unlock it with the service menu trick so I can put other sim cards in to use. I am wondering why do I need to flash an unbranded rom from europe. What problems will I get if I stick with this now? I also cannot get into my CSC - I think its a single not multi csc or something. So I am unsure how or if I need to try to check that as well?
So yer not sure what I need - I want to be able to stick any sim in and update the software from samsung when it comes out thats it! Whats my best option? Thanks
ps forgot to say also counter is on 1 now and kies is saying i can update firmware from LI5 to MF1 (on all three phone pda and csc) - maybe I can do this?
You should have used this then you would be rooted as well :

Not sure how that would help me...I can just root this rom anyway surely? I am just confused to why people want unbranded roms as I see absolutely no difference so far from the one I had on before (german unbranded rom) to this one (the ee one). I would of put a unbranded uk rom on but there are none. So I am thinking I root this now triangle away then re root it and it will use any sim and upgrade no?
Or if I just use kies to upgrade I am ok no?
Yer its letting me update OTA as well even with counter at 1 !

So do what I suggested and pick the 4.1.1 rom.
Why use this Root Method? Well the main reasons are:
- You have a complete Odin Flashable ROM Package.
- No Insecure Kernels are used or required.
- You can flash these packages on Non-Rooted devices
- The Binary Flash Counter will NOT increase when flashing these ROM Packages.
- The Red Exclamation Mark will NOT appear at boot up.
- And finally, you only have to flash one file in Odin and you have a complete firmware including Root Permissions.
What Root Package is used in these ROMs?
- Busybox 1.20.2 (Newer ROMs)
- SuperSU 1.51 (Newer ROMs)
Product Code: GT-I9305TADEVR (4.1.1) (EE UK)
PDA: XXALK3
PHONE: XXALK2
CSC: EVRALI5
Then do the trick to unlock the sim
Ah yer quite useful. Well its updaing OTA now seems to be working so I guess ill have to take that route for now. So u can flash the rom straight on - nice.
Just confused to why its allowing me to update and the sim worked from another phone in it - so if its not broke why fix it I guess?
ps sim is already unlocked its the csc I cant get into
Guess it might not be samsung repair worthy though.... :S

Hi All,
I have a Galaxy S I9000 that I purchased from Optus (Australia) that I have been flashing with different ROMs quite happily. Unfortunately in my excitement I did not take note of the original versions.
I had a nightly build of CM7 on it but now that Samsung Australia have released Gingerbread I wanted to do a stock upgrade (with Kies) to try it out.
So I reverted to a stock 2.2 I got from the ezRom guide (can't post the link)
BUT, kies says that it is not updateable.
So then I tried to revert to a ROM that is supposedly an Optus one. I have flashed it to (According to KIES):
PDA:JP5 / PHONE:JP3 / CSC:JP4 (NEE)
Or from the phone:
PDA: I9000DTJP5
PHONE: I9000DTJP3
CSC: I9000XSAJP4
Build info: 2010.11
But Kies still says "This version of the device cannot be updated."
Is it because of the CWM bootloader (v2.3?)?
Any suggestions / ideas?
Many thanks in advance
Have you tried using ODIN for flashing?

Yes indeed. I used Odin to flash the ROMs.
Thanks.

Good suggestion, and it flashed OK and works OK, but, KIES still says it cannot be updated.
Should I flash the bootloader? It is CWM.
I wonder if KIES looks for the bootloader.
Kies is a huge pile of dung. Why bother messing with the bootloader when you've already flashed what you wanted?

Several Reasons:
1) I want to see what Samsung's "Official" version of Gingerbread is like.
2) CM7 bluetooth pairing is broken. I am totally over having to go through the pairing process every damn time I get in my car.
3) I have to go back at least to 2.2 at some point as I have lost access to my External Flash card.

You should be able to grab the stock fimware from samfirmware.com and flash it with odin, no?
Hi,
I have successfully just done what you are trying to accomplish. I don't have the links to these files anymore but if you can't find them I'd be happy to make them available for you.
Firstly flash GT-I9000_FROYO_FULL_PDA.tar as it has a boot loader.
Secondly flash GT_I9000_DTJP5_DTJP3_XSAJP4 which is the original stock.
this looks like the link for the froyo full PDA tar: http://www.multiupload.com/3FFWC68UMC
so does this work? I want to get back to stock Optus and similarly didn't take note of any original versions or do any nandroid backups. idiot!
Dears,
I require help from you. My galaxy note has stock ROM and is very laggy.
PDA:KL3/PHONE:KL1/CSC:KL1(INU).
I read in some threads that with KL7 firmware, lag disappears completely.
i have few questions.
1. I want stock ROM and when i try to connect with kies, it says 'this is the latest firmware'. i bought this from India and Im currently in saudi arabia.
2.where will i get the STOCK ROM for KL7 and how to put in my note?
3. Will this 'unofficial' way clean up my data?or will my apps and setting remain as it is after update.
appreciate your replies.

1.This is latest ROM for India, thats why kies says.(you have purchased from india)
2. Read My signature
3.It has no relation with way you are updating, Dont select 'Re-partition' option while you flashing with Odin, so you will not lose data, but it is always advisable to backup first.
Now another thing, if you install KL7 by odin, you will not able to Root it later. If you want Rooted KL7, you need this
- Get ROOT + CWM in present ROM (read My signature)
- Install Mobile Odin Pro from market
- Now download Stock firmware, as i advised you earlier, n Flash your device with Mobile Odin Pro, with ' ever Root' option enable
thanku buddy
im sorry. but i downloaded a file N7000XXKL7_N7000OXAKL7_N7000XXKL7_HOME.tar.md5. now i see 4 options in ODIN: bootloader/phone/csc/pda. now where i should i associate this field.???
also since my csc is INU and this seems DBT is there anything should i b doing??? . pls gime detailed steps
just to select PDA, as you seen in guide.
got it right.upgraded to kl7. thank you dr.
I am confused. This is the latest firmware, but it is still carrier specific, correct?
Is there a firmware that is 'pure samsung galaxy note' which hasn't been manipulated by the carriers?
I guess KL8 is the latest firmware.

That's fascinating. Not the sketchiest place it could have come from, but definitely not Canada. It looks like the January update missed South Africa.
So, where does that leave me as far as updating my firmware?
Will it update on its own when S. African devices get the update? Is there any way I can connect it to Kies? Is there any benefit and/or risk to reflashing it to another region?

If you root your Note as mentioned above, you can forget about Kies (which is a piece of ****e, BTW), and flash any stock or custom Rom you like. Just check the Dev section and you'll find a wide choice of both.

Too many choices. :-/
Since I posted this thread, I have:
1. Learned a huge amount about my phone and how it works internally.
2. Rooted my phone using the ZergRush script.
3. Backed up everything on my phone using Titanium Backup.
4. Installed Odin Pro
Now, I have to decide which Firmware to install. I'd prefer a stock ROM, since I like the stock UI and apps.
It sounds like I have to change my CSC code to continue? Since there is only one ROM for my CSC. Will this step wipe my phone?
Are there any reasons to prefer one region's ROM over another? "Open" sounds like a good thing. Does it matter?
Don't worry about changing the csc. Its always an option, but entirely unnecessary unless you want to go full stock and remain unrooted. If your csc matches the csc of the official rom you have installed, you'll get kies/ota updates for that region (with dbt probably being the best one)
However, if you always want to flash the latest official firmware via mobile odin, regardless of region, and retain root, your csc is irrelevant.
It doesn't matter which rom you use from the list. I'm currently on the Germany lb1 rom, and the only difference is that the initial 'touch the Android to begin' screen was in German. There's a button on that screen to select your language from a list.

You were supposed to. Let me explain:
It's always a good practice to start clean when flashing new Roms (unless the Rom developer doesn't specify otherwise). So, the usual procedure before flashing new Roms is:
1. reboot to CWM recovery
2. factory reset
3. wipe cache
4. advanced/wipe dalvik cache
5. flash Rom zip
When you flash a Rom over another Rom without a full wipe (the little procedure above), you may face issues like FCs, old Rom components still present, random reboots and whatnot. I'm not saying these problems have to happen, but they may.
I actually just wiped mine. I switched the CSC to match the ROM I'm using. I was hoping this would get Kies to talk to it. I don't know why I'm so obsessed with making things work as the manufacturer intended!
Restoring stuff now.
Well there are no apparent benefits with KIES recognizing your device and force updates on them, coz doing so would "unroot" your phone.
So if you want to keep root, just download the stock ROM and use CWM manager to flash it. And this definitely is not how the manufacturer intends it to be, because he never wants you to be "root" in the first place.

Yes any GB rom for N7000 will work

Now you have your pcode, that tels you what device
then dial and note your emei
*#06#
then with your emei
*#272*yourimei#
Now you have csc.
Whatever you do. If you root or plan to flash roms, backup your efs, on and off the phone.
Dont wipe on ics/jb because of brickbug. This includes changing csc, factory reset etc

Hi guys! Happy New Year!
Here it is the short intro: the phone is bought in Bulgaria. On the box is written on En and Polish. Seems that this phone was dedicated for the Poland market, but ... The firmware reported - PDA: I9070XXLK2 Phone: I9070XXLK2 CSC:I9070OXXLI1.
After reading so much treads here seems that for XXLK2 there isn't rooted FW
I have downloaded FW for REGION: OXA (Open Europe) | PDA: I9070XXLD1 | CSC: I9070OXALD1 - the original one and ROOTED one.
Also I have found that there is a version dedicated for Bulgaria - GT-I9070 - Bulgaria PDA: I9070XXLD1 CSC: I9070OXXLD1 Version: 2.3.6 Date: 2012-04-17. It is with some differences because the volume of the file is different than the Poland and Open EU ones.
Here are my questions:
1.What could be the difference between the actual Poland FW, the Open Europe FW and the Bulgarian?
2.What I will lose/gain if I flash from Pol to Open EU? After some reading here seems that it is possible to be done with Odin.
3.Do I am going to gain something if I flash from Pol to Bulg? The BG FW is with approx 10 MB more as compressed FW file.
4.Why is bad to increase this binary counter?
5.Can I reset this counter?
6.If I flash with Odin from Pol to Open EU (the orifginal not rooted FW) is it going to increase this binary counter? Probably it is the same answer, but is it going to increase the counter if I downgrade the FW from Poland XXLK2 to Open EU PDA: I9070XXLD1 CSC: I9070OXALD1?
7.If I flash from Pol to JetMOD™3.2HDSwipetoRemove*15TogglesTurbo*JBLayout*Lots is it going to increase the counter?
Generally I am looking to:
1.Root my phone.
2.To change/test some optimized FWs in case to get the max from this phone,
Please, help me to get the answers even if you don't give me direct ones but give me links to find them.

About other questions, I will answer on the one I know.
1. /

4. It is bad because you lose your warranty, if you do not want it - there is no other "minus" for gaining binary counter increase.
5. Not yet.
6. No.
7. To install JetMOD you need Custom recovery (TWRP), that you gain with rooted kernel - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1873119
And you do not increase binary counter by intalling anything via TWRP.
This method does not increase your binary counter, but your phone needs to be rooted so you can perform this!
IF YOU'RE NOT FAMILIAR WITH DD I RECOMMEND YOU TO AVOID THIS METHOD
1. Extract the attached file twice. You will end up with a kernel.bin.md5 file
2. Put the kernel.bin.md5 file to /sdcard
3. Start adb shell
4. Do the following commands:
Code:
Code:
$ su
# dd if=/sdcard/kernel.bin.md5 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p15
# reboot
5. Wait for the device to reboot.

OK, Thanks for your support.
Thanks for the link to the rooting guide. I have red it whole yesterday. I learned from it how to gain the root, but seems that no rooted rom for XXLK2. Also seems that no rooted firmware for Poland. Then I am thinking over to do the following:
1.Will downgrade from XXLK2 (Poland) to XXLD1 (Openn Eu).
2.Will follow the instruction from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1985199 to install the rooted kernel for this FW. I am just wondering if I flash the already Open EU FW with the whole rooted FW for Open EU is it going to increase the counter? I mean not just flashing the rooted parts SYSTEM and CSC, but the whole rooted ROM.
3.To install then TWRP from this guide http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s-advance-i9070-twrp-recovery-122084/
Then I will try the taste of the rooted phone without increasing the counter.
Seems that if I use the method here to root the phone I would not change the counter http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1985199&page=43
Then using the termninal I could install TWRP also without increasing the counter. Am I right?
And after this operations I could try some other ROMS without changing the "damned" counter.

Yes, this is the way that avoid binary counter increase. And that outside link is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1873119 For adding TWRP.
So far ... all should be OK. I have installed Android SDK with all tools and so. I have tested the connection and some simple commands. It is working. Just one thing (obstacle) I have met - after some time (30 sec or 1 min) the phone goes OFF and the connection too. But I can't find where to sett that on usb/charge mode the phone to stay awake.
And now one last ... for now ... question: hot to see/monitor this counter? How to check the value of this binary counter?
P.S. Some hours later I have decided to start the FW adventure, but at the first step I have reach a problem. The FW I have downloaded from SamMobile for Open Europe is archive called "I9070XXLD1_I9070OXALD1.rar". I have unrar it. It is a folder named "I9070XXLD1". In it for my surprise there is one file "I9070XXLD1.tar" approx 754MB. It seems that the file format is not the normal one contained in the rest of the FW rar packages. I tried to open the archive with two apps - WinRAR and 7zip. Both said that "There is no correct record at the end of the archive". I am going to download it again and it is the same situation I will ask you to share Open EU original FW which is working
P.S. Seems that this tar file is also a native file format for Odin. I have flashed the phone to Open EU stock (acc to this guide) without problem. After that flashed with Open EU rooted (acc. to the guide here). Checked the root access. The result was "SU Granted". Now I have the rooted phone without changed binary counter. Wonderful.
I'm now starting to bang my head against the wall. I ave just bought an Orange locked I9305 which I only wanted to unlock to use on another network. Unfortunately I couldn't unlock it as it came with 4.1.2. I read that I had to downgrade to 4.1.1 which is where the problems started. I followed the instructions at the start of this post and made a backup of my IMEI / NV Data which went well. I then installed Odin and tried to install
Product Code: GT-I9305TADEVR (4.1.1) (EE UK)
PDA: XXALI5
PHONE: BVALI5
CSC: EVRALI5
Released: 17/09/2012
from the Pre-Rooted / Original Stock Odin Packages! thread.
I thought this had gone well but it got stuck rebooting at the Samsung screen after the start up swirling screen for at least an hour. I then tried to install the
Product Code: GT-I9305TADEVR (4.1.1) (EE UK)
PDA: XXALK3
PHONE: XXALK2
CSC: EVRALI5
This also got stuck and after another hour I tried to install a stock rom from http://samsung-updates.com/ which was I9305XXALI5_I9305EVRALI5_I9305BVALI5_HOME.tar.md5
This worked and it installed 4.1.1 but when I went to unlock the phone it didn't have any of the menus and when I checked the IMEI it said null / null.
I then though that this isn't too bad as I can just restore the IMEI but when I tried to connect through QPST it sees the port (Com3) but cannot see the phone so I cannot do the restore.
I have tried re-installing QPST after deleting anything in the registry that mentions it, I have re-installed the samsung drivers, I have flashed Param_Bin_I9305.tar.md5 with odin, have rooted properly as there was no superuser app with both busybox and I9305 clockwork mod. These worked ok as I was able to install triangle away and use it and have supersu in my apps.
Does anyone have a clue as to what I can try next as thinking of going back to HTC as I have had there phones since windows and never had a problem rooting and unlocking them
Just a thought I have looked at the box and it says the phone is I9305 PM will this make a difference

After the initial downgrade all you had to do was reset to factory settings to make it boot again (recovery mode). I would suggest installing the ROM that came with the phone to see if it magically springs back to life.
Restoring back ime
I had the same problem yesterday, but luckily for me i restore back my IME by flashing the paraffin with odin. But the rom on it as at the time when i lost my IME was warmalite. Try the warmalite and then the paraffin this might help.
Thanks guys,
I finally sorted it as it must be a problem with the Pre-Rooted / Original Stock Odin Packages. I finally got it to work by flashing a different kernel, I then unlocked the phone to any network and flashed a 4.1.2 Pre-Rooted / Original Stock Odin Package where it lost all its IMEI again. Flashed a new kernel and all working as I wanted it too as it's now unlocked on 4.1.2.

Is this new kernel you are flashing the Perseus kernel by any chance?

Yes that's the one I used why does it make a difference?

The difference is, if I am correct, you are no longer able to use any other kernel. Stock kernels, as well as CyanogenMod or other AOSP-based kernels will no longer properly set up your modem for you, you will need to always run Samsung-based ROMs with a Perseus kernel.
The same is happening with my device, and I have seen a few others as well.

Oh well at least the phone is working now where as before I couldn't even restore my IMEI, Just got to hope the phone doesn't break then as I don't think I would be able to send it back with that kernel

Right! It happens with my device as well.
I recently tried Adam Kernel which you can download using the Update Me App in Ripper ROM and it worked, my phone worked. So right now you can either use Perseus Kernel which is really good or use Adam Kernel which is far close to the stock one. That kernel isn't in a thread, you have to install Ripper ROM and then download it through the Update Me App if you want to use it.
I just wanted to point that out
