Made a backup of my C6906 .518 Xperia Z1 using Titanium Backuo before flashing iHackers V1.1
Now, when I want to restore my data, the app doesn't recognize the backup files, even when they clearly are in the SD card.
Anyone knows what could be wrong?
Goto to preferences and set the backup directory again. You can get titanium to look on your sd card or on the whole device

Ok, now the backup files have disappeared from the SD card, but luckily I made a copy of the backup in my PC.
I'm restoring the data right now, but it seems Titanium got stuck at restoring VLC.
Is that supposed to happen?
No, do a hard reset, and try again, occasionally mine does that, and when trying again it works fine

It got stuck again after hard resetting it for the 1st time, but the 3rd time was the charm.
Thanks a lot!

Subject says it all. I'm looking at flashing Cognition but I'm hesitant if I will lose all saved games. I have titanium backup but have only used it to removed at&t bloatware. Can I use that to backup saves? And if so.. how?

I use titanium backup and it has always restored my Angry Birds' saved games... I was three star-ing everything so I wasn't about to flash and lose it all either HAHA. I say use TiBu and you should be fine, though there are anomalies and I am not responsible for any lost saved games haha
Is there a "how-to" for titanium backup?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
TiBu -> Menu -> Batch -> Backup all user apps
Flash ODIN
Flash new rom (you can click wipe data, it doesnt delete your sd card stuff, in fact, i recommend it)
Install TiBu (if your rom doesn't have it included)
TiBu -> Menu -> Batch -> Restore all apps with data
Click install, install, install. Done.
If you're really anal (which i was for a while), put in an external sd card and copy the titaniumbackup folder from your root folder to the external sd card and then take it out. lol
Ah sweet. So if I'm understanding those steps... the internal sd card is not treated like internal ROM storage that is wiped when you flash your phone?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
No, but if you did, for instance, an Odin 3 one click back to stock, and clicked the master clear button, or if you do a factory reset, etc., that would wipe the internal SD card. So, if your ocd like me, connect to your pc and mount the SD card, and transfer everything on it to the PC hard disk. Then repeat that whenever you're going to flash. Just in case, you know.
Backup all user apps or backup all user apps + system data?

Do all backup stuff. You can later select what to restore. You can go in and just restore browser favorites if you want.

Nope - unless your formatting your internal SDCard the backup should still be on the phone even if you Odin 1 Click back to stock.
And.. if your really paranoid - you could always move the backup to your computer's hard drive then pop it back on after you update/restore

Hi all, I upgraded from a flashed to near death sensation at the weekend. I can't root etc at the moment as i'm without broadband. So my question is getting my titanium backed-up apps onto the One. I know I can get the apk files out of the back-ups but what about the saved data etc?

You can copy the titanium backup map to the storage of your one. Then let titanium backup scan the device and your backups should be there to restore.

I used the sony backup and restore app on the phone.
I then unlocked my bootloader, this is all on .290 firmware
In the middle of restoring, it reboots.
any ideas? I still have the .semc-fullbackup folder on my SD card, is there any way i can extract those or something? they are not APK's and sony PC companion software saves stuff as one big dbk file so i couldnbt drag it into there... any help would be much appreciated... my messages are very much needed!

i'm guessing sony back and restore app only works with locked bootloader?
try a third party app from playstore, there are some who don't require root.
I relocked the boot loader and still the same thing. Any way to get data out of these files??

Have you tried factory resetting your phone? It works on mine.

Yes I've relocked, reflashed, re updated, tried again, didn't work, unlocked bootloader again, didn't work

try doing a selective restore to get back stuff like contacts and sms etc, at least you will have the important stuff, then just re-install all your apps - settings may also restore some stuff
Backup and restore does not backup your homepage folders and stuff like that, I have an SD card which I use for all my music pics videos and files, you can also copy the contents of your internal SD card/drive to a computer as a backup of those
You can also export your contacts as a VCF to your PC
Unfortunately I can't rely on backups working all the time especially if you are trying to restore a backup to a new version of FW, so I keep and hour a week and do a lot of stuff manually
PC Companion is the best option if trying to restore to newer devices or FW/OS it can often do a conversion on the fly
I've never tried any 3rd party backup app but I'd assume they are more flexible

Can't seem to do a selective restore on the stock sony backup and restore app. You have a way of doing that? I have all my contacts and other stuff were all saved to my google accounjt, its just those SMS's that I need

Maybe try downgrading back to the firmware on which you did the backup and see if the restore function works. If it does restore your data and try to get a backup using Titanium Backup or other software.
Unfortunately I tried that already, seems like a part of the restorenis corrupt? This is really odd. Anyone know how to take data out of the backups?

unfortunately not, I assume you've never done a backup using PCC
There might be some software out there that can extract the contents of the backup or there might be an update to the software at some point if it's not working properly
I was going to suggest rolling back to a previous firmware you never know, always keep a backup using PCC
Nah I didn't start messing with pc companion until my restore didn't work and I was looking for new ways to extract my backup but I guess they're in different formats. I'll keep looking, later I'll open the conversations backup with wordpad and see whats in there... its 50mB though...

Hi guys,
I have installed PACMAN rom with root and everything.
I use this app called Clean Master and it says that there is a map that is called commonDir it is 12.53GB big, but it says it is a backup. I do not know if it is a backup, and if it is a backup I don't know what data might be backed up there. So if anyone has any idea what it is and whether i could remove it or not that would be great.
Yo,
I finally found the answer.
Made a Nandroid backup before I deleted mine, thus, realised that CommonDir is the folder name used for Nandroid backup, in my case; TWRP on the external mem card.
In CM, press & hold CommonDir then select ignore so you don't accident delete it. 12.5GBs seems pretty high for a backup file!? Have you tried trimming it by moving less valuable game data to the mem card so it's not included?
Loz
Tnx lauzer i will not remove this item than. Maybe i put it on my PC so it will not take up that much space on my phone.

Hahahaha found out that there where even 6 backups in that folder. Deleted them all and made a new one
