can anyone offer a solution for this yet?
1. I'm based in the UK.
2. I have a working hulu plus account (and can use it happily on a pc/laptop/app on android using proxy software hola, tunnel bear or hotspot shield)
3. i have a pwned chromecast with kyocast
When i try to cast, i get an error on the chromecast, (ill update with the exact error message later!)
is it something to do with the vpn service in Kyocast?
I regularly use Netflix US from the my phone to chromecast and it works great.

I have a HTK75D (originally a Canadian Xoom) and I cannot, for the life of me, stream anything off netflix. I have a Canadian Netflix account and i'm able to stream content on my Moto Defy.
The apk used on the Xoom is 1.4 and the error message is "Your device needs to be updated to instantly stream from Netflix. Please visit the device manufacturer's website or ca.netflix.com/nrd for more info"
The ca.netflix.com/nrd site lists Tablets as Apple only.
Am i the only Canadian with a reflashed Xoom who can stream Netflix?
What you have to do to get netflix working is download a proxy app from the market like proxydroid. Then you find a free US proxy ip address (google it) insert the proxy into proxydroid and try to surf the web, when you finally find a proxy that works (took me awhile to find one) then open up the netflix app and login with your info and start streaming anything. Let it go for a few secs then stop it, remove the proxy and uninstall proxydroid if you want, go back to your regular connection and bam netflix works in canada. Mine has been working great since i've done this.
I can't seem to get Pandora to work on my Chromecast ... I've update the Pandora app and and I see the cast button, however when I click it I get a message saying "Oops! We were unable to connect you to Chromecast at this time". The chromecast displays a "Brain Freeze - something failed to load".
I have changed the nameservers on my router and updated the iptables scripts (I am in Canada). Pandora works fine on my phone on my wifi network. Also, Netflix works fine on my Chromecast too. Are there additional scripts required on the router?
Not currently subscribed to Unblock Us so I can't test right now. There's always the possibility Pandora is sending an IP address rather than a hostname to Chromecast.

Mind sharing where you found the updated Pandora APK for a fellow Canuck?
No need to find the Pandora apk, just temporarily change your Google Play store to a U.S. account and use a DNS/VPN service with U.S. gateway to connect and install Pandora.
You can always tab-cast Pandora from your PC to the Chromecast. The audio streaming performance is fine.
I have an old chromecast that I rooted a while back, and I would like to install plex onto it permanently because I want to use it on a network that doesn't have internet access. Can this be done? If so, how? I would only use this chromecast for plex and nothing else, ever. Thank you very much.

You cant make it work as Chromecast need to access Google Cloud Services to work, even its a local casting. This is the BIG DIFFERENT and most of the time become a problem/stopper for Google to work at Mainland China and Russia as Most Google Services are blocked on Internet on a national basis.
For local casting which does not need any Internet Cloud Services, you can use Airplay or DLNA devices such as Anycast or Ezcast toggle.
So far chromecast needs an internet connection to cast content to it. That means chromecast can't be used to cast downloaded Netflix videos without any internet. Internet is rather difficult on a ship on the sea or in a caravan in the outback. It seems to me a rather valid request since more and more apps allow downloading content and use it offline. At least as long as the device is set up, offline using should be possible.
Would it be possible to build a fixed ROM analoge to the Flashcast-Autoroot ROM (https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-tv/chromecast/rom-flashcast-autoroot-t3270332) which just allows using chromecast without an internet connection provided setup is already done? Does anybody have any infos disregarding?
yeah you read the title right, am not looking for how to cast "to" GTV with chromecast rather i am looking for a way to cast my GTV screen to another chromecast enabled device.
One of the reason to buy chromecast with GTV was an "implict" (though seems wrong) expectation that i would have google home from playstore and be able to cast screen from my GTV with chromecast to other chromecast enabled devices in household.
there is no google home in chromecast playstore (says not compatible), and i downloaded latest APK for google home and it runs and i can see all devices within home including chromecast enabled devices but all devices (including connect devices like lights/switches all are shown offfline except google nest thermostat).
I can guess some of you might ask why i want to cast, i use STBEMU to watch IPTV sub that is mac bound....and instead of replicating MAC on another device i was hoping to cast from the (master) gTV with chromecast. My cheap chinese/aliexpress S912 and 905x box can do such a thing albeit they crash every now and then when casting but gtv doesn't even gives me that option to cast
any pointers appreciated ....thanks

I missed the part where you actually tried to sideload a screen mirroring app on CCwGTV to see if you hit paydirt.

considering it runs Android / exposes play store...so its no different than mibox or a phone where tv is screen. In light of same i implicitly assumed i can run google home. (as i tried to state in original post, my android boxes can do that...albeit not very stable).
this ruined all my plans to run stmemu on one device and cast when i want to watch on other tv instead of buying multiple susbcription for my IPTV service. My second implicit assumption was i would find a solution on xda....never in last few years was a case that i wanted to do something with my android devices and XDA didnt had an answer
