[Q] HELP! Can somebody with root access try this app? - Moto X Q&A

Hi, if you have root access on your Moto X, then I need your help!!!
I'm trying to find out if the Moto X has more than the four visible system languages in the rom.
Unfortunatly it is not that easy to look for, unless you have an app that can do the hard work for you.
**The downside is, that it requires root access to work.**
If anyone have root access on their Moto X, I would be ever grateful if you would download this app from the playstore, and tell me which languages the app detects and claims it can switch to. If you could attach a screenshot, it would be awesome.
The app: Set Locale and Language: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bruce.setlocale
Thanks alot in advance

Maybe it doesn't even need root. I don't know. Some other language apps did, but I would really appriciate if you could tell me which languages are supported in the rom.

RTL Languages (Arabic, Hebrew, ... etc) without root?

Hello there,
It seems to me that I need to root my N1 2.2 in order to get RTL languages readable. My question is that is there a way to do that without rooting? If no is it possible to only do it without *flash* my ROM just root access? Yes = How
I am not asking for a specific language as I need the answer for 3 oh my friends who needs Farsi, Arabic and Hebrew ..... Any thing please
RTL
The answer is both yes and no.
If you don't want to root you phone, there is an app (I wrote it ) called persian browser that you can see persian/arabic sites on it but only on Android 2.2.
if you want/can root your phone, the first this I can suggest is to root it without voiding your warranty (without unlocking the bootloader) it is a little hard to do that but it is possible, after that you don't need to flash a new rom and by adding the update for RTL languages (A project at google code called arabic android) you can fix RTL problem and they are keyboards on the market that you can get and use at least for arabic and persian. but you still need some tweaks, for example for persian you need to replace system fonts because one of the letters are not showing up correctly.
So, if you don't have time for these, just get my app it is just a temporary solution until android 3.0 came out.
Thanks for the reply but I believe your app only work with Farsi not all RTL languages however I like the idea of root but not void warranty Can I do that?????
So basically I have to change the font only and everything will work fine.
As for the Arabic one in Google code, I have no idea about Arabic but my Arab friend told me he has to flash it with custom ROM and has to pay 7 bucks for activation or something is that right?
RTL
yes, you need to flash, but it is not a ROM its just an update to some libs, and I didn't see any activation fee, maybe its for keyboard app or something.
refer to this post for rooting without unlocking bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=710842
and yes, my app is for persian/arabic, maybe other people can write the same fix for other langs.
To make Arabic and Hebrew readable (in anything but Gmail's headers), you don't need anything. They're already readable in 2.2. You need something only if you're looking for RTL direction (alignment to the right) in messages, Gmail etc.
AnySoftKeyboard will allow typing them.
By the way, wrong section. This thread doesn't belong in Development, but in Q&A.
Rooting
Well, wondering around, found this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=736271
and easy easy way to root your phone without voiding warranty and without cutting battery or do any phony stuff. I love this openness of Android that let people do this amazing things.

I already unlocked my bootloader but it seems interesting I will try it with one of them and hope I find a specific lib for each language to add it to their N1
Used it on my nexus s running zuluzulu 1.3.1. THANK YOU works perfect

[Q] How can I get Romanian language for swype on I9000XXJPM

Hi guys,
Maybe I missed something but after few searches I couldnt find an answer.
Is there any way to get Romanian language prediction in Swype?
Maybe a CSC change or.. install a different version of swype from another ROM..?
I have an idea but not sure about the correct way to follow.
Can someone give me a hint?
Thanks a bunch!
Hope this helps!
It has all languages!
Go to www//4shared//com/get/26YCldWS/Swype_160368214_HVGA.htm
P.S. Sorry moderators for violating rule (To prevent spam to the forums, ALL new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. After approximately eight posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thanks for understanding!) Had to help him
The file is gone. Any update?
Hey Cezar,
If you still need Romanian language support for your Android phone I can give you step-by-step instructions. Let me know.

Can I get the file even if I'm not Cezar? I need the Romanian dictionary. The auto-correct crap to pop Romanian words.
Install new Swype (even on phones with Swype preinstalled)
1. Go to http://beta.swype.com/ and register in order to download the latest beta. (it works just fine)
2. Although they caution that if you had Swype preinstalled this will not work, there is an elegant work around.
a. If this is your case (most Samsung phone do come with Swype preinstalled) you need to have your phone rooted and Titanium backup installed
b. Freeze the original, preinstalled version of Swype with TB and reboot the phone
3. Install the Swype installer you’ve got using the method suggested above and follow the instructions. Once installed, Android sees the new Swype as an update to the original version.
4. Go to Swype settings and download whatever dictionary you wish (including Romanian and many, many others) - this is actually the main (and I should say very important) difference between the stock / after-market versions of Swype - the first comes with only a few pre-installed dictionaries without the ability to expand, while the latter offers a lot more choices and the versatility of downloading/installing the language(s) of choice.
That’s it. It works like a charm and the Romanian dictionary is quite comprehensive – although it takes some practice in using the diacritics (you have to swipe through the “-“ sign for l-au, m-au, etc.)
Thank you very much. I was able to update & to install Romanian. It works pretty nice.

need help plz

Hi I'm new to the Samsung captivate at&t. I did the 1 click root program and I have the superuser icon but I can't install 3rd party apparently! Wen I try to install it say my phone has block the non android applications. Could someone help me out?
try this!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=807046
Rooting does not allow non market apps, you need to enable sideloading. I think there is a program out there called one click decrippler that should do it. Look in the captivate development section for non market apps or sideloading
Woops, yes see post above

[Q] Adding input language

Heya there,
I am mostly wondering if anyone can help me by clear instruction on adding some input languages, so that I can have them in "swipe the space bar" function. As a matter of fact, I need to add chinese, but somehow my phone, though it has chinese as the interface language, doesn't have chinese as input language.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
1st root ur phone then paste apk file to the system app folder n give permission n paste the other file to system lib give permission will do!
reboot done!http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=505306&uk=1679498417
I don't think the stock Android Keyboard supports Chinese. Samsung does provide their own Chinese input method which is separate from their regular input method. IMO the Samsung Chinese input isn't that good. You should try the Google Pinyin IME, it supports pinyin/stroke/handwritting input, trad/simp chinese. I think it's a great keyboard.

But some of other handheld do have the chinese as their input. Seeing from how they just swipe their space bar to change their input, thus voila... They can have pinyin as their method of input. I still keep wondering on the method in adding the languages.

HTC One 802W (Unicom version with 2 sim)

Is there a chance that the custom roms can be used in these china versions? I am tired of the blinkfeed screen and would like a custom rom installed to get rid of this. Not sure if these roms can be used without destroying 2 sim card support.
thanks.
just install a different launcher if you dont want blinkfeed
I'm not sure whether ROMs will work on your variant (but I'd guess that they would) but as long as you're rooted with a custom recovery installed then you could always try it and see if you can install them or not. Of course, just make sure that you make a backup beforehand so if anything goes wrong, you can make sure that you can recover your phone to a working state.
You don't actually need to install a custom ROM to get rid of blinkfeed though. If you take a look at Q12 on the HTC One FAQ, you'll see that there are 2 ways you can "get rid" of blinkfeed without needing to install a ROM.
*NOTE* As this is a question, you shouldn't have posted your thread in the development section. I've just asked a moderator to move your thread to the Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum. Please remember to use that section if you have any further questions.

So far all 3 recovers in one forum can not be flahsed into One 802w. So there is no way to root it at this moment.
Not sure any recovery can be made for 802w or not.

If you can read Mandarin I would recommend trying out this site. It's probably the best and most reliable of the Chinese sites for custom Rom and rooting solutions for PRC specific devices: http://bbs.gfan.com/forum.php?mod=forumdisplay&fid=1257
Just want to Root and install Google Apps
Hi Guys Im not looking for a custom rom, but would like to be able to root my 802W so that I can install google apps.
Is there any known way to do this yet?
If there is a website in Chinese with instructions on how to do this, then please send me the URL, and hopefully my wife can translate as I try and step my way through.

The poster above you posted a link to the Chinese HTC One forums. From what I can gather they have already rooted it and have Roms available. Maybe your wife can help you out with understanding it. I can't repost the link because my post count is too low but it is the bbs gfan URL above.

The HTC store is absolutely useless. There are so many things that are not available on it. But if you bought this phone in China, then you have no choice as the Play Store and any Google services are banned. I had to install a custom tweaked ROM that had google services on it to enable everything again.
Hi there,
I just purchase HTC ONE M7 802W (china unicom version with 2 simcard)
But Since I Need google framework (google appslaystore, map, gmail, google contact etc etc etc more importantly, I live in Indonesia)
Then I guess I need to install the google apps into my HTC one.
The question is:
Is it possible to install the google apps without flashing
Rooted 802w from Shenzhen?
May you let me know if I could buy one from your friend in Shenzhen rooted?
I am very interested.
