[Q] Do I need a case for the Moto X? - Moto X Q&A

Everyone tells me I need to get a case if I get a smartphone.
I'm leaning toward getting the Moto X, but I really don't want to put it in a case. I feel like it will take away from the inherent ergonomics of the device, not to mention cover up my color choices if I go with a Motomaker phone.
Are you using a case with your Moto X? If not, how is it holding up? If so, did you find a case that doesn't detract from the phone's ability to fit so nicely in the hand?

i'm using moto x for about 3 weeks and no case, no damage at all, i don't think it needs a case for risks, but if you dropped the Moto X, a case would be helpful, your choice, do you drop your phone a lot? =p

I know a guy dropped his moto x and cracked the screen, so I think you may need a case for protection.

diztronic and moto both sell clear cases that don't cover up the design and they don't completely destroy the ergonomics. most cases expose the speaker and the area around the flash, so even if oyu had a boring black case, you could get a snapshot of color.
i ended up only customizing the camera ring/vol rocker. you can see the ring, but not the rocker.
i dropped my phone face down on to the garage floor the other day. it made a sickening flop. landed perfectly flat. i think the case completely saved me that day.

If you drop a phone and the screen cracked...I don't think having in a case would have saved it. Unless you go overboard with an Otterbox case or something.
I know this is all personal preference but I hate cases that cover the front bezel. Currently waiting for my Moto X but on my current phone I finally found a snap on case that didn't cover any of the front. Like I said - personal preference, my phone spends most of it's time sitting on my desk at work, in which case having a case or not makes little difference. The other place where it spends most of its time is in my pocket. Cases with a "lip" that wrap around the front bezel are dust and lint traps. On an older phone, I had sand or debris get under there and it eventually rubbed scratches into the front bezel.

I got an Otterbox Commuter case. It isn't as comfortable to hold (i miss that comfy little Motorola dimple in the back, it really does balance beautifully) but on the other hand I've dropped it a few times now and have shrugged and picked it back up rather than having a near heart-attack and worrying I broke it.

On my S2 and soon my X... I'll be using an otter box or something like that, with a holster. I work in construction and my phone is hooked on my pocket or tool belt all day. It's saved my s2 from drops up to 8feet.... With out something extremely protective I'd be screwed. But that's my needs.
Everyone's use and needs vary... No one can say you need a case or not.

NEED a case? No, but I would really hate to scratch/ding my beautiful new phone! Truth be told, I have been quite anti-case over the years, but the MotoX is now the first phone I've ever put a case on. I have the SUPCASE Unicorn Beetle case, and I really like it. Pretty thin & low-profile, doesn't add a lot of bulk at all. Not gonna withstand getting run over by a Mack truck or anything, but enough to protect my edges from lil drops/falls.

I like the minimalistic cases. Anker makes one.. I like the sandy texture. There's also the bumper cases.

A simple rubber type case is my goto case for all my smart phones. One, it will absorb enough force from a fall to prevent the screen from cracking. Two, having a lip over the front helps protect the screen when setting the phone down on its face ( which is how the motox is designed to work with active notifications). Three, the lip from the case by the cameras on the back lens helps keep it free of finger prints and scratches letting your camera take better pictures. I also recommend and a screen protector, the glad protectors are nicest. My first smart phone with gorilla glad I did not use a screen protector because I believed the glass scratch proof. Well it is more like scratch resistance, after about 8 months the screen had slot of tiny micro scratches in it. Although not very noticeable from distance out did effect the take value significantly when I wanted to sell it.

Exactly, a case like the diztronic tpu case is great. To add to that: Easy on/off so you can use it and clean it when you want, also protects against small drops so that the resale value stays intact. Highly recommended.

I don't understand people who are so afraid of scratching something that they hide it forever.
It's just a phone. It fits better in the hand and pocket without a case. Yes, it may get scratched or dinged. It's not a Lexus. Big deal. It's a hunk of plastic. It's OK if it gets a little scratched or dinged.

I'd say it's the opposite, considering the fact that the phone uses the screen as the means of notification.

personally, i've found phones have resale value. the more pristine i can keep this device, the more it'll be worth. and to your point, people make the same argument about cars. its a car, it's going to get scratched, pitted, dinged, etc. yet people take extensive steps to prevent it.

For some people it is though. $500 is a lot of money to pretty much everybody. Scratching something, yes, but some people are really clumsy and they drop their phone a lot. A good case would save them the extra $200 to fix a broken screen.

I got the otter box commuter and is not all that bulky, considering its pretty good protection. No screen protector... Never feel a need for one. And it fit my S2 Seidio holster... With some minor heating and bending.

I've had an iPhone 4 in an Otterbox Commuter for most of the past 3 years. It's saved it from a few drops onto tile floors, and if I were to peel it off and clean it with a microfiber cloth a little bit in the areas that aren't covered by the case, it'd still look like new. Since there's an equivalent case for the Moto X available, I'm inclined to stick with what's worked for me.

Thanks!
Thanks to everyone who replied to this thread. I take pretty good care of my things, but it seems like if I can find a case that doesn't offend my aesthetic sensibilities and ruin the ergonomics of the phone, it's probably a good idea to use one.

My thoughts almost to a T, but being a swappa user, there is validity to the resale value. I hate cases but the scratches and nicks make me consider a low profile case.

I simply refuse to put a case on this gorgeous device. Plus with all the backs available for cheap, why even bother.
As for the front, I plan to go naked. I am gonna use this sucker to the ground. Love my X!

[Q] Case & screen protector questions

Hey guys,
Anyone found a hard case that fits in the car dock yet? Tried the incipio one but it's pretty tight, and the last thing I wanna do with my shiny new bionic is to go wedging and squeezing it
Also, I've heard that because the screen is gorilla glass there's really no need for a screen protector, anyone wanna weigh in on this? I generally carry the phone in my pocket with nothing else in it, should I be worried about scratches or scuffs through normal use and carrying? In the event of a bad enough drop/scratch that the screen would get damaged, would a screen protector provide any help anyway?
Thanks in advance for any advice, and hope everyone is enjoying their phone as much as I am!

The screen protectors they try to sell you at the VZ stores are *always* useless on *all* phones. And since the Bionic has gorilla glass, even the invisibleSHIELDs and Bodyguardz are useless also. You don't have to worry about scratches and scuffs at all on a device that has gorilla glass.
As for cases, I don't plan on using one at all, so I don't have an opinion on that.
i purchased the Shell Holster combo from Verizon and if you remove the insert in the car dock the phone will fit in it with the hard shell on it.
The hard shell also works with the extended battery.
I'm looking for a case that fits over the extended battery. Didn't like the uncomfortable plastic one verizon offers. Haven't seen any others.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
I tried the shell holster combo, didn't seem to fit in the car dock even with the insert removed. It felt like the bulge that allows for the extended battery made the case too wide for the clamp on the car dock to fit over the phone, but I was also being pretty delicate with the thing (like I said, I REALLY don't want to go wedging and squeezing anything on my new baby!), but maybe I missed something? Can you post pics of yours in action?
I'll also say that I thought it was odd that the only clamshell holster that my verizon store had was one that fit the extended battery, it definitely seemed to add a lot of bulk to the phone that you don't need if you're not using it. Is there just the single "one size fits all" version of this case, or are there separate ones for the standard and extended batteries (which seems like it would make a lot more sense)?
Also, thanks for the advice on the gorilla glass, I did get a set of verizon screen protectors (even though I know they're worthless) just as a temporary measure until I could get a better one, but I guess I'll be tearing that thing off and seeing how it goes. Anyone else wanna add their weight to this recommendation and make me feel a little better about going au-natural on the screen? I'm coming from a Dinc which definitely needed the screen protector, so I may just be a little paranoid, but it would totally ruin my day if I went without and then ended up with a permanently scuffed screen
Thanks again for all the advice guys, I'm totally loving this thing, just gets better and better every day I use it!
I didn't use anything on my screen (or a case for that matter) on my DX for the year I had it and the screen still looks brand new. I usually carried the phone in my pocket with nothing else in the pocket. Also dropped the phone a few times and no damage whatsoever.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
I had Gorilla Glass on another phone and used it for over a year with ZERO scratches. I do not plan on using a screen protector with my Bionic. However, I am shopping for a thin case to stop surface scratches.
I had two OG droids over a period of two years that never had a screen protector.
One did get a very minor scratch but the other I had for longer was flawless the entire time.
I think the only thing you have to watch out for if you're going bare is sand.
So what are you guys recommending for cases? I like the Incipios, but if the holster works in the car dock, that'd be a big selling point.

Looking for a case to fit over the extended battery as well. Hoping that there will be some soon!
You do NOT need a screen protector... rocked the D1 for ~2yr without one and not a single blemish became of it.. it has the same gorilla glass screen:
Youtube:Motorola Droid A855 Key Screen Scratch Test
As for cases... I got the 'high-gloss silicone' case from VZW... I like it, EXCEPT that the power button doesn't work in the car-dock. I was thinking of returning it, but I might just go exacto on it and make a little cut-out for the power button.
I don't know if this is very relevant but tomorrow i'm picking up the otterbox defender bionic case from radioshack (got a buddy whose a rep that can get me a discount). I've seen the otterbox cases on other phones and they're awesome. They do add a lot of bulk but if you're often at risk of destroying your phone if you drop it like I am, (I work at citizens bank park in philly) the bulk is well worth the protection.
Wow, some of you guys are very lucky. Gorilla Glass, without a doubt, CAN SCRATCH. It handles things like coins and keys fine, but things that are harder, like sand, will scratch it. It amazes me that some people still say its unscratchable. Do yourself a favor and get a good quality screen protector, not that Zagg garbage. I recommended Steinheil Ultra Crystal. Once its on, you'll never notice it. Just like glass.
So, just in case anyone was wondering, I did end up finding a hard case that fits in the docks/mounts easily and allows charging and dock mode. The Incipio Feather is what I got, and I'm really liking it. It barely adds any bulk to the phone, but it gives it enough protection to ward off pocket scratches or dings and would probably do fine in a small drop. It does come with a screen protector but I wouldn't recommend using it, it's one of the harder plastic ones that picks up fingerprints like crazy, and while it's big enough to fit the entire screen it doesn't bend to conform to the screen's curves so it overhangs and lifts up around the edges which sucks. I'll probably end up getting a Zagg or a Steinheil instead, but as for the case I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a hard case but not much bulk!

Interesting. Did you contact them? I haven't had this problem on my phone or tablet.
I've heard that the OEM case verizon sells fits in all the docks. I believe there's some sort of insert that you can pull out to adapt for the case. Thoughts...?

Yes, the oem SILICONE cases fit in the docks, but if you're like me and want a hard case you'e SOL. There are only three hard cases that verizon sells for the Bionic, the Incipio two-piece case, the Otterbox, and the shell holster combo, and none of them seem to fit the docks and allow charging/dock mode (not to mention that the otterbox and shell/holster are both huge). You're right about the insert, but it still doesn't help with any of the hard cases that were released at verizon, which is why I'm so stoked to find the one I did!

Hey I'm considering this Feather or the Seidio Surface case (which I had with my Incredible). From the pics on the Incipio website for the Feather case, it looks like the top corners are exposed...is that true? Its a little hard to tell from the website pics. Would you mind taking a couple of pics of the corners with the case on and posting here?
Thanks!!

The Incipio Feather Case is nice. It doesnt add much bulk, but still protects well.
Why not get a good screen protector and then run without a case. When the battery door gets to the point that its no longer attractive or you want to sell the phone buy a new battery door cover. A new battery door will cost you $7-$12 on eBay.
My Nexus has survived wars and it still looks good w/o a case. Like ^ this guy said, screen protector would suffice. I hate that extra bulk in my pocket.
I've got the trident aegis black-on-black for my NS4G (which I've had since last august) and think it's great. I had never been a "case" guy, and always kept my phones bare, but this phone was just waaaaaay too slippery. The smooth plastic back is one of the worst features of this phone and makes it really hard to hold on to if you're constantly juggling stuff in your hands and on the move. I dropped it a bunch of times in the first few days I had it before I just caved and ordered this case.
It's a two-piece case with a silicone full body case that covers the whole phone, and then a hard plastic outer shell that kind of clamps around the silicone.
The silicone part is supposed to absorb shock when you drop it, I guess. It has tabs that cover the headphone and usb ports, cutouts that are perfect for the camera and speaker, and mic, and is a bit thicker on the corners, which gives me some confidence and makes me think that they thought the design through well. I've dropped it a bunch, and watched my 1.5yr old son throw it to the ground, and no probs.
The plastic part wraps around that and is supposed to be good at reducing risk of damage during "crushing" impact. All I can say is that I actually shut my car's trunk on this phone accidentally and it was absolutely fine. It gives it gives it a sleeker feel and minimizes the "ruberry-ness", too.
It also comes with a clear screen protector that is fine, and I don't even notice. Since the screen is curved most people complain about the fact that screen protectors don't stick well on the edges, which is true, but the lip of the silicone case on the front covers this area, so you don't even notice it. I also don't notice a difference when using the touchscreen.
The silicone part does collect lint, so if you're OCD about that, it'll be annoying, but the protection makes it totally worth it for me. I'll gladly pay $30 for a rock solid case that collects a little lint rather than get insurance at $7.99 x 24 months = $192 over the contract. The one thing that's important to know if you use multiple batteries like I do, is that you have to put the silicon section into the hard plastic section first, pop all the buttons out of their holes on the hard plastic case, and then push the phone into the case. If you try to put the rubber part on the phone first, and then put the hard plastic on, the fit is so tight, it's tough to get the buttons to pop out. It was pretty frustrating before I figured this out, but now it only takes me a few seconds to do a battery swap. Finally, the case does add some bulk to the phone, but I personally don't think it's all that bad. The phone feels more solid in my hand and is much less slippery.
I've been meaning to write a review for this phone in the proper thread, but I don't like to review stuff unless I've really used it. So I pretty much forgot till I saw this post. Maybe I'll go link to this post in that thread too, but if you want pics, I remember seeing them in that thread, and in threads over on androidcentral or androidforums or something. Good luck with the case search.
I grabbed the Ballistic case for my Nexus. It's pretty rugged, stays on very well, and comes off easily when you want it too. Feels very solid in your hands.

[Q] How many of you go naked?

Hey all. I'd be interested in hearing how many of you don't use a screen protector, and if so, are you seeing any damage to the screen? After watching this video (warning: cringe-inducing) I reconsidered my policy of always putting a screen protector on my mobile devices http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlFS-hQK50I
I've always put on a Zagg InvisibleShield on my devices. This time, I was searching for alternatives because I was tired of the wet install, dirt/lint causing the film to start peeling after about a year, and then having to reinstall with a warranty replacement. I just discovered tempered glass protectors, like Ghost Glass from Mime USA. But, I originally chose an InvisibleShield because I don't like putting my device in a case, and with film I can just carry it around in my pocket without worrying about scratching. The video I linked seems to indicate that this phone can take a lot more abuse then I originally thought.
So, who doesn't use a screen protector? If you don't, are you getting any scratches on the screen? Would you mind posting pics of your screen to show what, if any, damage is happening to your screen? Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.

I've used cases on previous phones, but not on my X. I've never used a screen protector. I think anything that would cause major damage is going to go right through a screen protector. The typical micro scratches you get from setting the phone down or floating around in your pocket are really not visible with the screen on. Even with the screen off you really have to look for them. I think most screen protectors really dull the display. Maybe they've gotten better recently.
If i posted pictures of my screen you wouldn't even be able to see the scratches. There are some there, but you only see them in the right light at the right angle.
I hate cases, it ruins everything. Why buy a "designed" phone and then put it in a case *cough iphone users cough*?
At work I put it in a sleeve mainly because there are lots of dirt, screws, bolts etc in the same pocket.
When I'm not working it's totally nude and every phone I owned was treated the same.
I never sell my phones either but I'v heard that it's quite popular to do so.
I do construction ...if not for my otterbox defender my phone wouldn't last a week....unless I left it in my car.
I sometimes let it out for fresh air on the weekends.

Exactly my thoughts as well. I hate the bulk of a case. But, I have always gotten a Zagg InvisibleShield for my devices, usually with full coverage. I like just keeping it in my pocket without the bulk of a case.

Yes...going naked while doing construction is probably not a good idea. Too many chances of accidents with a hammer.

No screen protector. But I do use a hybrid case. I went on a stint of not protecting my phone with a case. An accidental drop from my car and phone was broke, had to replace the glass. A case would have saved it since it dropped directly on a corner.
I do agree with the idea of no case though. Phones look slick with no case!

Exactly my thoughts as well. I hate the bulk of a case. But, I have always gotten a Zagg InvisibleShield for my devices, usually with full coverage. I like just keeping it in my pocket without the bulk of a case.
Have you gotten any scratches on your screen yet (for the Moto X or any other smartphone)?

I cracked my screen on the razr maxx after the 10th I dropped it while driving. It worked perfectly though until I had a severe crash on my motorbike. Had it in my front pocked and it looked like a banana afterwards. My defy had some light scratches on the screen + a big one but that was after a lot of abuse (and going naked while at work).
No screen protector or case here either. I just make sure it's the only thing in that particular pocket. This seems to be a pretty durable device.

ot:i like the moto x bamboo and i think if u have something beautiful why u must hide it with cover and cases..?
No screen protector, I tried several but didn't like the feel. I do use a case though and treat phone somewhat carefully. No scratches yet

I used a screen protector on my Moto X along with the bumper case with the clear back.
I barely notice it and have experienced enough scratches on other devices to have it go around naked.
I've had unprotected phones with the color rubbed off because of them going in an out of my pocket (that was a really long time ago )
I paid for it and want to keep it in as good shape as I can for as long as I can.

Naked all the way. Not a big fan of cases. As some of the people said already, why cover something good looking. The htc evo 4g with extended battery (3500 mah) turned me off from putting any cases on any cellphone ever. That phone traumatized me. I am still scared to leave 4g on or gps or to increase brightness. That phone wouldn't last me more than 4 hours. I had to turn off almost everything.

No case, no screen protector, no damage since I got mine in October.
I'll also add that while i don't put a case on my x, it's primarily because of the shape and design. I can't see that translating through a case well.
my prior phone was a samsung infuse which had a very hard plastic-y back and easy to lose the grip. it was also very thin. It was actually awkward to handle without a case. Even with the case it got chipped up pretty well. Perhaps samsung has improved but the finish on that phone flaked off if you looked at it wrong.
A matte antiglare screen protector is a must have in humid climates. Your thumbs glide smoothly on the screen no matter what conditions, and once you've experienced the joy of it, you won't be able to go back to sticky screens no matter the small penalty in screen clarity. With that said I'm very happy with the one I got from tech armor thru Amazon. Oh yeah, no case.

Smudges make me twitch
Welp, just couldn't do it. I really really wanted to go naked with the Moto X, but I found myself obsessively cleaning the screen from the immediate smudges it left behind. I ended up ordering a Mime USA Ghost Glass tempered glass screen protector (that's a mouthful) http://mimeusa.com/product/moto-x-ghost-glass-screen-protector/ I didn't even know tempered glass protectors existed. It's on the way, and if anyone is interested, I can post back on my thoughts. But, you can find a review here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kwv5S-z_2Sg
The ebony back was also getting all "fingerprinted-up", which was, again, causing me to obsessively clean the back (I probably need therapy, or medication). So, after much analysis paralysis (damn you, internet), I ordered a Power Support Air Jacket Clear (not Grip) directly from Power Support http://www.powersupportintl.com/Air-Jacket-Clear-for-Moto-X-p/mmtx-71.htm I've found very few remarks about the Clear, as opposed to the Grip, online. However, what I have found, sounds promising. It seems the Air Jacket Clear isn't as "plasticky" as the Incase Snap Case, and doesn't smudge (there's that word again) as badly.
Both are still on their way. If anyone is interested in feedback, I'm going to most likely give it anyways

I find my pocket keeps the screen free of smudges with no protector on it. I have two Moto Xs, one with the smooth black back and one with the black weaved pattern on the back. The weaved pattern hides fingerprints, the smooth does not hide them well.

My thoughts exactly. I've tried cases and screen protectors in the past but, the cases make the phone look like sh*% and the screen protectors I feel aren't that responsive for touches. Been bare back for years now (Moto X, Atrix HD, LG Thrill 4G, Backflip, Samsung sumething?) and never had a scratch until now... not counting the LG Thrill's shattered screen from, falling down the stairs, in the shower, twice, after I told it to shut up...ok I threw it
Had my X and Atrix screen to screen in the same pocket and looks like some dirt from the yard got between them and scratched the screen on the Moto X :crying: Barely noticeable, but it's there and I know it. It's ok, just gonna sell it to get a Dev Ed or the 32gig Blk/Ebony/Metalic Orange :highfive: Still will not use protectors tho.

Samsung Clear Case, anyone tried?

Hi,
has anyone tried the Samsung Clear case for the Edge? It's the bumper case style case from Samsung. Not the clear view.
http://www.samsung.com/global/galax...es/accessories_galaxy-s6-edge_clear-cover.jpg
I really like the design but i am wondering how much it protects the phone? Is it good enough? Will your phone be safe if you drop it?
I tried, I don't advice to get one because of its price and it doesn't protect nothing if the phone falls only if hit the corners other then that the phone is naked. It's only good to protect the camera if you put on top of the table, and the other thing is because our phone is glass when you put this case you will have bubbles beneath, between the back of the phone and the case. Not well made this. It's beautiful other then that isn't good.
Have it, love it, never drop tested it.
But I have bumped it a few times on the corners (and back) and no scratch or damage at all.
Unlike the guy above that doesn't use it, mine does not have bubbles between the back glass and the case.

You cant actually say that case is protective because its not, let me show you mine so everybody can see that im not lying.
and you can see the difference from another one i have Ringke Slim that has no bubbles.
Its not my first phone or my first case you know
I Don´t Recomend It
I have it, looks awesome, and I never had the feeling of normal cases where I want to take them off all the time, but I dropped it from 30cm and the thing looks awful and has like a kind of crack on the corner, so if I get to drop it at normal height (around 1m) I´m not sure if it will protect anything.
I recomend the spigen Neo Hybrid it's the best match for the s6 edge but here in Mexico they only sell the clear case.
I have one & have been using it ever since I've had my S6E since launch day. I love it b/c it allows me to place the phone on its front or back without touching the phone on the surface, it's very light, shows off the looks of the phone, and makes the phone look cool. I had 2 aluminum bumper cases & one hard clear TPU case but I sold them b/c I like the Samsung clear view case much better.
I'm planning to purchase a Ringke Fusion smoke clear TPU case, however. Not as a replacement but as an addition.

Blame it on user (marco) error. Mine has zero bubbles. Perfect and easy.
I think i might get one. So far its the only one i saw that doesnt make the phone look ugly.
Don't. It scratches so easily when I was not even using it.
Here is the story: Got it free when I bought the edge on launch date. Used it a bit but I'm one of those guys who likes the phone naked. Kept it on a place where it won't get moved or touched. Some days I carry it around without the phone just in case. After a few weeks and I try to put it back on, so many scratches that it's so dirty looking. I didn't even freaking use it. >.>
im strugling to find a good case that protects well enough but doesnt look like crap.
I don't like it
I got this case for free with the pre-order for my phone.
Having used it as well as a Spigen Ultra Hybrid case and a UAG case, the bottom line is that it provides the least protection, but shows off the look of the phone the best. It is absolutely useless if you are the type to drop your phone often, or like to throw it around. I would very much recommend the UAG case for that. However, it excels at preserving the look of the phone, and is, in my opinion, the best case for the phone if you just want something to cover the rear and prevent scratches when placing it on a surface, and preventing scratches from minor bumps to the corners of the phone.
It should be noted that being a first party product, it is quite expensive. Overall, I would give it 10/10 for looks, 2/10 for protection, and 6/10 for value (I would give it a lower score for value since it offers so little protection or features, but so far its the only case I found which actually manages to keep the phone looking as good as it does naked).
I'm using one, got it free with a wireless charger. Loving it, feels invisible and removes that slippery feeling the back of the phone has.
Check out my thread for printed plates to sit behind it

How can I be blame? I'm simply giving my opinion and a lot of users agree that's is to expensive for the quality, I use a ton of cases and never got any problems with them, other then bubbles this one gets dirty and fingerprints all over in a few hours. But maybe it's only mine that's a fingerprint magnet [emoji4] [emoji6]
So what is the purpose of this case? Everyone seems to say it wont protect your phone from a fall but i thought that was the whole purpose. From what i see in the images, the case raises above the phone's level so the case should hit the ground before the phone for every side unless the ground is very uneven. Just like the first bumper case for the Iphone, it seemed to only protect the sides but the fact that it added a couple of mm between the phone and the ground really made it work. I dropped my iphone a bunch of times and it never actually touched the screen or back.
Can anyone confirmmy theory or did Samsung just fail with this case?
My gf wanted the Kate Spade case for her S6 Edge. While it does look like very good protection, the fact that the buttons become difficult to press seems like a deal breaker
I have it and I did not use for even a single day. Because its very slippery in the hand and does not protect the sides of the phone. But I agree that it looks beautiful but would definitely not recommend it at all.
I've had it for a month until I got my hands on incipio. This case is much better. With the clear case it scratches very easily.

it doesnt offer much protection but damn does it look good!

LUVVITT Clear Grip (Case Review)

I don't know if this case has been reviewed yet or not but I just got it today. I had to find a case quick and it needed to be cheap since I don't know if I'll be getting the HTC 10 or LG G5. It also needed to be available for same day Amazon shipping since I couldn't go another day without a case. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to use this phone without a case but it's design makes it a little difficult for me. My palm is always touching the screen which causes some minor issues but my biggest complaint is while playing a game such as Trials Frontier. When playing a game like this, it starts to become uncomfortable after just 5 minutes of play. It's most likely due to the phones thin edges which are rounded but still sharp when holding it horizontally.
Anyway, this case fixed all of my issues. It still keeps the phone very thing but it provides just enough thickness to the edges to make the phone feel more comfortable when using. The case itself feels well made but I suppose there isn't much to screw up with a TPU case. All of the cutouts match up and the buttons stay very crisp. The case provides a nice grip without providing to much grip to where it becomes an issue sliding your phone in and out of your pockets. The actual fit of the case is very snug but it's still easy to remove. I suppose if you keep on removing it and installing it, there is a possibility it could become loose.
In regards to protection it's not going to work any miracles but I'm sure it would provide some kind of protection during drops. It's a super thin case that has the corners slightly raised. They are raised just enough to keep the display off of a hard surface if the phone falls face down or if you like keeping your phone face down on the table. These raised corners however only slightly sit above the front glass so dropping it on an uneven surface such as asphalt could have dire consequences. The back is no problem at all as the raised corners give the back glass more clearance.
If you're looking for a crystal clear super thin case that offers nice grip, decent protection and allows you to showcase this nice looking phone then you might be interested in it. If you care more about protection than the way your phone looks and feels then this probably isn't the case for you.
You can pick it up on Amazon for $12.99 (PRIME Eligible.)
Side Note: The Edge display keeps full functionality if that's important to you.

I did this late last night. I'll take some pictures today and add them.
i bought 4 luvvitt cases when they were like $4-5 on slickdeals including this one. haven't opened this one yet, but will. thanks for the review.
Does the back have texture? Does part of the phones glass back stick to it at all?
Also btw the sale on these cases (including the normal clear one) are still going on with the code SLICK007

Yes. The back sides are textured. I also just removed it to see if it stuck and no it doesn't.
I don't know what kind of deal that coupon code gets you but it its $10 or less then I'd definitely get one. I needed the case same day shipped through Amazon Prime so I just paid full price.

I also got one as well during the SD promo as well, Posted some pictures of it bellow and sorry if the quality is not up to par.
Just wanted to help out on the real pictures. It's fine I've been using the Spigen Tough Armor for now. Just wanted a clear one for home or if show of how nice the phone looks while still on case.
Thanks from the real pictures. I knew I was forgetting something today. My wife had me running around like a chicken with my head cut off today since we are having family over our house for Easter tomorrow.

can you detail your opinions about the build and pros cons of the Luvvitt cases.
Bought sleek armor and aside from the lack of lip it seems like a nice low profile case with some protection. Just dont like the fact that the phone when face down with the case does not have enough lip to protect the screen.
The home button rest directly on the surface.Testing this out I caused micro scratches on the home button which is naturally a bit raised.
Would love pics and opinions on what yours are like...
