hello guys.i m trying to flash a new rom on my p500..so i was searching for the best rom (from the views of battery, performance and ram management)..i saw a lot of options and to be honest i got comfused..does anyone of you tried a rom which worked without problems?i mean in camera, speaker or anywhere else!
i mostly look for cyanogen..which i saw has already ice cream version for my mobile...thanks for your time!any answer is welcomed!
preferably if it could let me decide which apps will be on startup and which not,and if it could support adobe flash,it could be great, but these are minor problems...
I'm using gingersnap v1.3 is the best for me for now........

If you want to find the best rom for your device, flash the ones available and chose the one that suits you the best

Hey guys, I have a question for you wise devs, it comes with a bit of a background story. Basically favorite ROM dropped support for my phone, now they only support the i9000, I have an i897. I am going to try to port. I want to be ready for a worst case scenario: say I screwed up the port, framework is incompatible, what would happen? Are the two phones similar enough that I could still get to download mode, or is a hard brick certain?
Fyi: I am using a guide from a trusted source i found here on xda, I can post link if you want thanks greatly appreciated

If u port something. Please port 4.1 jelly bean b5 gnex stock rom of elitemovil
Well if you didn't port it properly you might get some apps that will Force Close and that also your soft keys might not work properly etc....
Also there is not risk of getting hard brick.
P.S.: If you're porting a ROM, please port it for your self only!

Great thanks! Yeah no way am I putting anybody's phone at risk haha, I just want to get to know the porting process and the folks at darkyrom are completely ok with me trying and so I'm gonna give it a shot, again thank you! Question though: if I get good enough at it and can provide updates and support and the devs at darkyrom are ok with it, how do I go about making the port public? Are there people's permissions I need? Thanks again=)

Hello Pator57,
First I want to express my intentions with this post: I'm VERY glad that you have started to work on these ROM ports, and I'm only willing to help ya so that you can contribute more and more for the wildfire.
For me, a ROM presenting shouldn't be done in this way. First , lets start with the thread name-you should specify what actually is in this thread, is it a port/mod/build-from-source/etc, not only 'aokp update' for example, you should specify a date/version of the specific ROM , so that the users can keep an eye on the ROM since its almost certain that it will have some bugs , that should be fixed in new versions.
Later, in the thread its good not only to explain how and what you did it, but to put screen-shots/videos. To give details about the features, the ROM base and from where did you ported it, about the performance and some glitches. Plus that don't forget to include some disclaimer, so that you are not taking any responsibility for bricked phones, earthquakes or anything else. There can always be someone to point at you and claim that you bricked his precious phone. Detailed credits are also good to write, but you have made it so its OK.
Moreover, the actual zip of the ROM. Its not cool to name it 'aokp.zip' or 'miuiv4.zip'. I again think that including date/version is good, because when you make 3-4 different zips with bug fixes for example, personally i love to store more than a one version of the ROM I use and with these names it wouldn't be practical.
Of course one can rename it himself , or try the ROM to find out whats in,but(I think) these small suggestion would make you look more professional and reliable, just the way a developer/porter should look. This will give me personally convince in you, and that the things you do wont harm my phone. I hope noone will feel offended in any way. My intention as I said is only to help you, so that we can have one more ROM "producer" here. All what I wrote are personal views on how the things are done around here, its your choice whether to follow them!

Strange it was working well for me..But do you make an factory reset, wipe data, wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache partition before flashing ?
Ok but if the rom still doesn't work i will deleted the thread.

I'm sure it shouldn't be called like this, because its a whole-ROM zip , and you tell that we should wipe everything when installing it,but whatever.Since its an 'update' of tathanhlam66's ROM , why do you make a whole new thread and not just continue what tathanhlam66 started ?
EDIT: Plus that , you have not edited both threads as I suggested you, which is making them BOTH look just funny. If you are not serious , and constantly state 'This is an update...blqblq', they will continue to look funny and futile!
and i hope you got permission to post and uptate his work?

...and to play scrabble with his name
As on the MIUI thread, is it possible to provide some more details on that? Screenshots, bug list?
It's quite tricky to flash a ROM without knowing the results..
There are no bug but if im wrong tell me like my miui port. But it report to doesn't boot so i will try to make it boot next weekend. And i don't need to ask permision aokp it's like miui it's an open software and no need screenshoot the rom it's an ics rom but only with some aokp option tweaks

First of all thanks to chuandinh, I ported his method he uses for the galaxy note to dualboot. Related thread here. I made it working for our device
Important: If you´re not sure about something, ask and dont do it. Only apply this method when you´re a 100% sure.
I´m not responsible for things that happen to your device! It may be not safe. Everything is tested (so my device should be damaged first ^^) by myselfe but its your decission to actually use dualboot on your phone.

What you need: You need to understand the following lines and you need to have ~2gb free on your internal sd.
Rom requirements: Till now both roms have to be android 4.2.2!
Step 1: Download all files we need
Go to the download page at team-blockbuster and download all files on the page
Those are: dualboot_setup_06042013.zip, greenblob-1.1-lts.zip, boot_to_sd.zip and boot_to_phone.zip.
Step 2: Understanding how it works
- Setup the system you want to have as second rom (the one on sd). Flash anything you want to modifications etc. (apps etc. can be installed later). A wiped rom is always better
- Flash dualboot_setup_06042013.zip. It copys all kernel related files needed to your current rom and pushes your rom to sdcard. Default rom to boot is the phone rom, not the created sd rom seconds before. You´re SDRom is stored in sdcard/SDRom/rom1. greenblob-1.1-lts.zip and reboot
- Now flash your second rom. This is the phone rom. Remember to flash greenblob-1.1-lts.zip after it! You would not run greenblob 1.1 with dualboot otherwise
You´re per default always booting to your phone rom. If you want to boot sd rom you can (theoretically) press home button when the Galaxy S2G starts to pop up. Its not really working yet thats why you need the files boot_to_sd.zip and boot_to_phone.zip.
Boot into recovery and flash the file boot_to_sd.zip to boot to sd or boot_to_phone.zip to boot to phone
Step 3: If you understood everything execute the instructions
Thats it!
Ask twice if you havent understand something! I hope this guide is easy to understand. For me its sooo easy as I developed these way to boot But its hard to explain.
I will improve the method on dualboot from time to time to make it easier for you
You can suggest features below
Please submit as newsworthy when you think it is

Bugs? This is dualboot! There may be bugs. Our device is not made for dualboot

Did you mean this?
- You installed the sdcard rom then flashed gapps for phone rom? Then the gapps are only on your phone rom
Everything thats on your phone at the point where you flash Dualboot_setup4 everything from system gets packed into sd rom.
So if you want gapps in your sdrom you have to flash sd rom, flash gapps then flash Dualboot_setup4
Is it the answer to your question?

No boot_to_sd and boot_to_phone does not wipe any data.
It only changes one value that makes it booting to sd/phone
Thank you for this really =D I was dreaming of it last night, I'm trying it right now. By the way, if I want for exemple to update the rom on the sd card, will I have to override the rom on the internal memory to do it ?

Flash ROM. Flash Gapps. Flash Dualboot.zip. Flash Greenblob. Reboot
Dear all XDA Developers
i have samsung galaxy note n7000, after we got the official JB update the device went to be so slow, so i choosed to downgrade it to ICS and i download the sogtware image from (www.samsung-updates.com) as i told it should be official software images.
and i downloaded the ODIN v3.09 for pc, connect the phone and install, it fiinished successfully, AFTER that i start to got the error, the phone shutdown suddenley and got the screen said "RST_STAT 0x2000000 User Fault, not kernel panic, upload mode"
i tried to install again and still have the same error the it is random no specific time, then i download and install the Philz and wipe the phone as for install a new ROM and install the same image then got the same error after two days.
my request is how to solve this problem and where to download an official ICS for my GT-N7000
i hope to find the solution here in XDA developers
best regards
No one can help??!!!!
Is this issue so difficult and there is no solution or any idea about solving it??
It depends on how you choose. Going your path back to official ics could be problematic. So i would just go forward install a custom jb rom such as Aryamod then the problem is solved and u will have a beautiful and fast rom. Done.

Also, stock ics is known to brick phones.
as i got the official JB via update the device is too slow, so would that problem solved when installing a custom rom? and which rom should i choose? and the problem now is with the device hardware? or just the ics??
as i searched before it on the internet i found that this is a GPS problem!! how can i check that please??

1stly, After getting JB update from OTA, it's recommended to do a factory wipe in stock recovery (This is what Samsung CS told me). I tried and it works (at the expense of having all my data n apps gone).
2nd, Like @forest1971 says, there's many good custom Roms And you can choose per your liking. I strongly oppose going back to ICS as of the brick bug threat. If you really want to downgrade, might as well go for GB.
3rd, WHAT is the point of our good Dev's spending their precious time and cracking their heads to come up with a custom rom IF they are not BETTER than Stock roms?

Installing through odin is the best method for flashing stock rom. You have done it right. Just remember NEVER to do a factory reset anywhere with ICS. Not even in recovery
