Just in case anyone still thinks the battery sucks or missed the Anand review.
All I can say to that is every phone is different. I had the HTC One about 5 months then the moto X. Moto X had substantially better battery life than my HTC and N5. HTC one and the N5 battery life are about the same, N5 might be a little better but no where near the moto X.
There's already a thread discussing the Anandtech review

I have been hyped for this phone since I heard about it and ive been extremely tempted to get rid of my nexus 4 and grab this phone, the camera issues seem to be over exagerated from what i can see and some say that the nexus cam is bad and I thought it was okay. Any thoughts from anyone using this phone coming from the nexus 4? The main draw for me is battery life, Im lucky if I can get 15 hours of battery life total, with maybe 1-2 hours of screen on time..
If you're OK with the nexus 4 and its lack of LTE, stick with that. This camera has been frustrating me with its lack of exposure control/focus. I'd wait to see how they're going to improve the camera before ditching the N4. If had both and I think the only reason the Moto X wins is Verizon's LTE coverage.

I never had the Nexus 4, and I'm certainly no camera junkie, but I love this phone. I came from the Galaxy Nexus, so any phone is an upgrade, really. I was happy with the gnex camera, and I'm even more happy with the Moto X camera.
Get the Moto x and never look back. My n4 is now an mp3 player. Moto x battery life is insane and the phone is much smoother than the n4.

My main concern is battery life, what were you guys getting on the n4 vs the x?
I can double screen on time versus my nexus 4

I'm a N4 owner and just like you, my main concern is battery life.
I haven't yet decided whether I should go for the Moto X or wait for the next Nexus and see what's coming up.
Tough decision
Im very much leaning towards getting one on sprint tomorrow if best buy is going to pricematch amazon when I go to get rid of my old iphone tomorrow. I just have one last question, does the moto x have a notification LED or is it purely done with the active notifications?
It is done through active notifications no LED

Battery life on the Moto X is beyond good. 6 hrs screen time. A bit less if on LTE instead of wifi, but still way better than the Nexus 4

I haven't been getting that at all. Yesterday I was at 13 hours on battery 2 hours of screen time with 3% left. It is almost exactly the same as my Nexus 4. I don't play games or watch videos either, pretty much just texting, hangouts, whatsapp, Reddit.
I had to go pick one up today, So far I think this thing is amazing, I love the feel of it and I actually like the vibration on it. If this battery is as good as everyone says ill be thrilled.
I'm a n4 owner thinking of going to moto x too, for the battery life and better optimization and amoled screen non pentile.
Just pulled the trigger on eBay for 495.00 with a case and protector. The moto website kept placing holds on my credit card but not putting the purchase through so I gave up on Motorola selling it to me. My n4 is going to the wife and she is a happy camper to be switching from her nexus s. Looking forward to checking out this device soon
hi
I own a htc one X+, and I would like to know if Im crazy buying a new moto x (310€ right now here in spain).
I don't need my 64gb storage, don't need FM radio..
I am looking for:
- better battery autonomy. Anyone knows how compares moto x against htc one x+?
- better user experience. No lags..
thanks!
I used to have an American HTC one x (dual core version with the snapdragon s4 pro). Since then I've had a RAZR m, note 2, lg g2, and moto x. The moto x is by far the smoothest of all of them, even without any custom Roms/kernels on the x. As far as battery life, I've been a bit spoiled by the g2 and the zerolemon I had for the note 2. I know a lot of people will tell you the battery is great in the x, but I think it's just OK. That being said, it's definitely better than my old one x, but I know you have the one x plus. Considering the moto x runs a more efficient chip with the same sized battery and screen, I can't imagine it's any worse than the one x+. Just be warned, if you are a flashaholic, don't get the x unless you're ready to be cured...

Had the HOX+,, love the Moto x better. The Moto has better battery life better camera and it is much faster. HOX+ is not going past jelly bean unless some miracle happens with Htc or someone ports it.
I came from the American One X (One XL), and it was totally worth it. The MotoX feels better, is WAY WAY WAY smoother, no lag at all. Battery is significantly better. Call quality is better. Everything is better.
If you're worried about price, just buy one used on swappa.com (~$200 or so)
My contract with verizon is up soon and i am deciding between both these phones.. I love the style and near naked android feel of the moto x but i have real concerns for battery life throughout the day.The turbo is a powerhouse on the battery side and is strong overall ,the thickness and size makes it less pocket friendly and the capacitive buttons aren't optimal... Since moto x has been out awhile i was looking to get opinions from owners on their likes/dislikes and if they would still pick a moto x over a turbo.. thanks
I just checked out the Turbo the other day and wasn't really impressed with it. The screen is better, but not THAT much (I'm not a QHD fan), and the fact that it requires extra horsepower just to match the performance of flagship 1080p phones like the X, it doesn't seem any faster or smoother than the X does. The X has a much better design, better in hand feel, better build materials, is more pocketable, and while it doesn't have 2 day battery life like the Turbo (per Motorola's claims) it still gets pretty amazing battery life. I average 6 hours screen time daily, and never have to plug my phone in before bedtime. I really wanted to like the Turbo as I had my eyes set on the Moto Maxx that's supposed to be coming out soon, but my honestly unbiased opinion is that the X is the better all around device.
Hey guys, I'm interested in upgrading my phone. I love my moto g and I'm undecided BTW these two phones. Which one would you go with?
I know the turbo has better specs in every department than the X, but I love the style and customizable options of the X.
I would probably go with 32gb storage.
Moto X unless you really want the extra battery life. My dad got the Turbo. It's a very nice phone, but not quite as smooth, attractive, or comfortable.
Yeah, that's my biggest issue with the turbo... Its not as sleek.
I'm only concerned with the whole specs thing... The turbo clearly has better specs than the Moto x. But then again that's not everything. I'm concerned when it comes to "futureproofing"
The "better" specs are meaningless when you're pushing almost twice as many pixels.
X all the way. I was in same boat. So glad I chose to build a custom X on Moto Maker. That Turbo is just so damn ugly. And those buttons, dont even get me started. Good Luck!
Hahaha the capacitive buttons or the volume/ power buttons?
Any of you guys experiencing problems with lollipop?
I returned my turbo and bought the moto x. Besides battery life, I think the moto x has fewer issues. But I get a full day out of a charge, so ho hum. I bought the turbo day 1 and went through 4 replacements before giving up. Having Lollipop already is an added bonus. However volte is not yet enabled.
The Turbo is slick, but I think the Moto X is a better designed phone. Aside from the fact that it looks better, it is also built better, with better materials. The Turbo has better specs, but they don't translate to better performance, with that unnecessarily high resolution screen being the culprit. The only thing that the Turbo does better is battery life, but considering the X can still make it through a full day no problem, I don't think it's worth getting the Turbo for that point alone. The X is the best phone ever made, IMO, so that is what I recommend.
I tested the Turbo and Moto X side by side for a week. I really wanted to like the Turbo because of the better specs but it didn't work out that way. WiFi connectivity was much better on the X. 4G speeds tested using speed test.net were noticeably better on the X. The X just feels way better in your hand. Battery life on the X was sufficient so not a real factor for me. For overall user experience the Moto X is a great phone
Does anyone thinks its worth upgrading to a Moto X 2014 from a nexus 5 right now? I live in Canada and have my eye on the moto x play, but depending on the price I may not go for it. The price of the moto x 2014 is decent right now so I'm wondering what your thoughts are on getting one at this point, coming from a nexus 5.
I had the first moto x and it was hands down my favorite phone I've used, and I've used them all.
I absolutely love my moto x 2014, best phone I have ever had. Just be aware that the moto x has a bigger screen than the nexus 5. For me it fits nicely in my hands, but some people prefer the smaller size of the 2013 moto x or the nexus 5.

I'll definitely be ok with the size. My only concern is battery life.

On android 5.1 I am getting 3 hours of screen time. Or under normal usage it lasts me the whole day.

I did the Nexus 5 to Moto X jump last week. If battery life is the main reason to swap then it might be best to look elsewhere. From a none scientific perspective, I'd say battery life is virtually identical - certainly not noticeably better or worse. It certainly looks cooler though
The phones are leagues apart! The Nexus 5 caused me so many problems with simple tasks such as making phone calls that Google decided they couldn't fix my issue and gave me a full refund. I actually went through almost 10 replacements. I then got a Moto X 2013 and haven't looked back. Now got the X 2014 and it's been amazing.
Nexus 5 has been the worst phone I've ever owned.

Same battery life should work, with the nexus 5 I can't get through a full day, but I can charge it throughout the day so I manage

I came from using a nexus 5 and switched to the moto x 2014 around the first week of January. I must say that I do love the build quality of the moto x, extra features like moto assist for driving and moto display, and especially the front facing speaker. The battery life for both the phones are the same , around 3 to 4 hrs screen on time on light to moderate use. It does make me think that amoled panels isn't really better than IPS LCD in the battery department. As for now, I don't think you should get the moto x 2014 now, either wait for the new nexus device(s) or get the new moto x style or play.

I made this move around when the Moto X 2014 was first released. I have to say it's more of a lateral move. The front facing speaker is nice and the mobile radios are much stronger on the Moto X. But the screen is not quite as good (it's a lower quality AMOLED screen so you get some graininess that you don't see with the Nexus 5, plus color shift at low brightness) and I've had considerably more "bugs" in the software than with the Nexus 5. Battery life is only slightly better. I'd really say to wait for the Moto X Pure/Style or the next Nexus.
