I have a S5830D 2.3.4
Baseband version: S5830DTLKI4
Phone has been rooted and unlocked.
I would like to update it to the latest official release from Samsung. I cannot do it through my carrier since phone is unlocked.
1. What is the latest OS version for this phone?
2. What is the procedure to update
Note: I don't care about backing up since phone needs to be wiped/reset to be given to someone else.

then it show fail message as below:
E:No signature (412 Files)
E:Verifcation failed

Does anyone know why I can update it successfully?

It does sound like he has no root, and I really hate the dev, section now. If I wanted Q&A that's where I would frequent
If you want an answer to a question, post in the Questions & Answers section, NOT the development section. I moved this to the Q&A section.
Your Tmobile G1 isn't a dev phone. You can't flash a devphone ROM unless you root your phone.
I am very new to this forum. Recentely I have purchased GNote - Indian version. This is my first Android device.
Installed firmware / stocke ROM details as below:
Baseband Version: N7000DDKL1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-N7000XXKL3-CL793489 [email protected]#2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XXL3
I think above is the latest / updated firmware / stock ROM available for Indian GNote.
I want to update it to the latest / stable firmware / stock ROM version (I don't want rooting). Can someone please guide me by providing step by step details?
Thanks in advance

If you want custom rom then you need root, otherwise you hav to use pc odin, which will raise flash counter n you will lose warranty, n that needs JIG hardware to reset.
You have option to flash any stock ROM, above said link is best choice to download stock ROM. You will find installation guide on same thread, post #2 n 3.
Btw i m in india n using latest German ROM la4 n is much stable.

Hi Dr. Ketan. Thanks for your reply. I don't want to lose warranty and I don't want to rooting the device. I want to install latest stable samsung official stock ROM which may be available in another country. In that scenario what will be the recommended steps?

Install Latest version of Kies.
download the Stock ROM from the above link (i prefer LA4)
extract it and you ll find one .md5 file
download Odin from same link
attach downloaded .md5 file to PDA tab
in Odin make sure Re-Partition is UN-ticked and do not select any pit file. rest of them let it be.
now turn off your device
restart in download mode by pressing Volume down + home + Power after that just press volume up to confirm download mode
connect Device to PC via data cable (now you can see yellow block in Odin)
now press Start and wait for complete boot.
Thats it....
(Flashing this ROM will not erase any DATA)

In that case also, you can have XXLA4 german ROM, which counts as most stable stock ROM.
Ranjan.alva have gave you a link, just above this post, follow it, you can get installation guide, How to flash ROM with odin on same thread post#2
EDIT : Ranjan have already edited his post n made easy for you. just follow it. still you have any doubt, you will get image guide on same thread post # 2
Thanks a lot both of you. Now I have one question if I upgrade to XXLA4 German ROM weather I will get future update (like ICS) via OTA? Or every time I need to install updated firmware via KIES or Odin?
And after upgrading to XXLA4 german ROM if I want to go back to the earlier stock ROM (XXL3) which already installed how can I do that?

M posting new guide in evening about how to update rom, stay tuned to my development section thread ' how to root ....'
If you install LA4, you wont get update over OTA or even with Kies, you have to update it with odin.
The way which you will update la4, same way with odin you can revert back to xxkl3

Root Stock ICS ROM
This method works on the released ICS rom from Germany and I would expect it to work for the rest of the ICS roms due for release..
This method does not increase the binary counter or causes a yellow exclamation mark
Rooting
Download the Files first and put in your SDCARD [CWM zip][ SU-Busybox-Installer.zip][ SU-Uninstaller-signed.zip]
Reboot to recovery.
Choose apply update from external storage.
(Touch the screen as if you are using the phone to choose the options)
Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
[*]Choose install zip from sdcard or external SD
[*]Choose and Install SU-Busybox-Installer.zip
[*]Reboot
[*]You are done and now your device is Rooted

Yes...i want to root the lc1 by this procedure...its posible or not....
You should follow the instructions in the other pinned thread from Dr. Ketan.
This one here is for ICS.
If you are on a LC1: Download Mobile Odin Pro and the LC1-kernel from Chainfire's thread and install the extracted zImage with it.
I do this all the time before installing a new ICS ROM.
But again: read the above thread and the instructions carefully.
Thanks..but my note is revive from hardbrick..it now loss 3gigabyte...
My worried is downgrading via odin pc...
Its possible to encounter again to hang on to factoryfs?
1. you bricked your device already - so I think it's ok to assume you didn't really read the warning threads how to flash in a save way.
2. you want to do it again - because it's obvious you didn't read or understand what is written there
3. I really like to help, but here I'm getting afraid to give hints. Please read the pinned threads in the development forum and follow the instructions there.
"downgrading": Odin doesn't know wether you want down- or upgrading. More interesting: downgrading from LC1 to what version?

You're quite special, aren't you? Expecting an answer after that statement.
LC1: I use stock LC1 (with PC Odin) and after that I install CF Kernel with Mobile Odin Pro for rooting and permanent CWM. Then I install Abyss Kernel from CWM as base for new ICS Roms.

Download Philz kernel from here (there should be one for your version (LPT) otherwise get one just as close (LPx . 4.0.x)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
once done, stick it on your sd card (internal preferably)
Now, download a JB ROM of your choice and place that on your sd card too (same place / folder and philz kernel (so its easier to find))
Now, flash philz kernel in recovery (stock or cwm) and then reboot recovery (under advanced)
from here you can continue to do all the wipes (or go to philz settings and choose 'clean for new rom') and then proceed to flash the JB ROM of your choice.
Notes to consider:
1. Not all ROM installations are the same, so be sure to double check the instructions from your chosen ROMs thread!
2. Wiping data will lose all your apps and data (not media, pics, music etc) So be sure to have a backup - Titanium is a good app for this, but requires root.
3. If you cannot find philz kernel for your version (LPT) and decide to use another version instead, your ROM may not boot, So if you need root to back up your stuff before the update, I would suggest to try another rooting method such as ExynosExploit.
4. Dont be overwhelmed by everything, it looks daunting, but once you know the procedure its really simple
Or use PC odin to install JB 4.1.2 XXLSZ.. no need to root..
please confirm

Hello,
I have to tell you that I'm completely new at this, and therefore even more uncertain to start doing the job I think that needs to be done, without having you guys consulted first.
Two weeks earlier, after reading and studying the internet for lots and lots of hours, I decided to flash my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 (Netherlands), using the Odin3 (v.1.83) software, with the downloaded German firmware version: N7000XXLSZ_N7000OXALSZ_DBT. And fortunately, to my own big surprise, everything just worked out fine and I’m having Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 installed and running in Dutch.
A few days ago, I read the message on the internet that for the Note GT-N7000, the Dutch firmware version: N7000XXLSZ_N7000XENLS4_XEN, finally became available and was now to be downloaded here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ . And so I did…
As I stated before, I am completely new at this and here are some questions I would like you to help me out with:
1. A little voice in my head keeps saying, that I should “re-flash” my Note again to have the right firmware for my smartphone. Although I would very much like that, would you also advise me to do so?
2. If so, would it be just as simple, using Odin3 again, as I did before (so: “just flash”) or am I thinking too simple now? So, whatever the answer, could you please explain me the procedure I should follow to have the Dutch firmware installed – if so advised by you?
3. I am also thinking about rooting my Note. I have seen several instruction videos on the internet, but most of them were explaining about rooting the Note that still had the Android Ice Cream firmware installed. I am not sure if I could “simply follow” that procedure, let alone, if the rooting software the videos are talking about would also work on an Android Jelly Bean smartphone?
4. If Odin3 also is capable of rooting my smartphone, would it be easier for me (being a novice) to use Odin3 as well for this purpose?
5. Would you please be so kind to advise me in this matter as well with the procedure for me to be followed and the software to be downloaded and/or used?
I really hope to hear real soon from you.
Thank you!
Robert.
1. there is not much of a difference between the 2 firmwares apart from a few widgets and lock screen shortcuts ( i think). its up to you if you want.
2. yes same procedure will just do fine for the new firmware too. detailed tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
3. easiest way is using one of these kernels. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191. it will auto root and safe.. procedure requires an SD card. same explained here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360 procedure 1A
4. odin can be used to root but it will cause the counter to raise and yellow triangle at boot... so use the 1A method
5. As explained above

Thank you for your swift reply.
Advising me to use the "1A method", it says:
Installation
1.a Pre installation : (For clean installation, optional)
- Make backup with Titanium Backup or other similiar app.
- First flash GB ROM if you are on any other ICS/Custom ROM
- wipe cache, data from recovery on GB ROM
Would it be safe for me to think that, flashing my Note again, the "1A method" does not apply to me at this moment since I already have the JB ROM (4.1.2) installed and running? Also, when I flashed my Note earlier with the JB ROM (4.1.2) through Odin3, all the data on my phone was kept intact. Was I lucky here, or does that all make sence?
Now, reading most of these forums, I often stumble upon the word "kernel", which frightens me a bit because these "kernels" mostly need to be downloaded for use. What is it, talking about kernels, that you are really talking about then? I mean, I don't suppose that a kernel is the same as my N7000XXLSZ_N7000XENLS4_XEN firmware?
You also advised me to make use of this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191 but, using this link, I don't see and/or understand WHAT I should be downloading or WHERE I should be downloading this kernel.
Could you PLEASE (!) take me by the hand here (step by step), before I mess everything up and with that, killing my Note?
I hope to hear from you again soon.
Thank you!
Robert,
Netherlands.:fingers-crossed:
- 1A is not from the link you are referring to.. its in the 3rd step.. to root.. donot follow 1A from the first link. its not needed.
- yes.. even when you flash the Dutch rom.. it will be intact if you donot do a wipe..
- the kernel i linked you to is a safe kernel which when installed auto roots the device and install CWM recovery..
here is a link to the LSZ kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39105835&postcount=2749

OK! Thank you again!
Excuse me for still having some small questions left, although I begin seeing the light...
I've downloaded the kernel: PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSZ-OXA-4.88.2-signed (name of the RAR-file). Should I use both the Dutch ROM and the downloaded kernel-file to have them both installed, if so - in which follow-up?, or am I talking non sence here? Or, is the Dutch Rom included in the kernel-file?
I cannot start with the procedure right away, because I have to go to work now; maybe later tonight. I'll also have to find out first how to install the kernell through Odin3, unless ofcourse you could tell me right away.
Anyway, thank you for your help so far.
Again, I hope to hear from you - provided I'm not annoying you!
Robert
Its just the kernel,., its to root your phone.. you can use it on the current rom you have or later after installing the new rom.
is the Dutch Rom included in the kernel-file?

No.. considering the fact that rom size >= 900 MB and kernel size >= 8MB

Thank you again! But I am afraid, I still need your help .
After unzipping the Kernel file in a map on my desktop (see picture), I see three maps with several maps and more files included and the "zImage" file (which I think is the actual Kernel file?). Could you please tell me what to do next to let it all work within Odin3? Which file(s) should I pick and how and where do I connect them to Odin3? In short: ehhh... help?:crying:
Maybe I am making too much trouble out of it and am I seeing bears on the road that aren't even there - If so, I appologize. But please, take me by the hand here... A small relief however: I AM learning from your answers...
I hope to hear from you soon.
Thank you!
