I got 1.6 recovery image from HTC web.
the file name is: signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.ZIP
I update them as following process:
To change the file name to update.ZIP -> put them in SD card -> insert SD card -> turn the power down -> home &Power ->ALT+L->ALT+S
then it show fail message as below:

It does sound like he has no root, and I really hate the dev, section now. If I wanted Q&A that's where I would frequent

If you want an answer to a question, post in the Questions & Answers section, NOT the development section. I moved this to the Q&A section.
Your Tmobile G1 isn't a dev phone. You can't flash a devphone ROM unless you root your phone.

Question about rooting a Captivate with Froyo

Hello all. So I've had a Captivate for a while and I want to install Froyo and root my phone. I'm only a little familiar with these processes and I'm curious about which one I should do first. Any advice? Can anyone direct me to a good set of instructions for either? There are just SO MANY out there. Thanks!
there are plenty of 'how to' documents and information about what to do. You might want to browse this section for more info:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=706
this thread contains some install information:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884364
this thread was created for an easier way to root and install a rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944418
There are plenty of rom's to choose from in that section, so pick one that appeals to you and try it.
please read the sticky posts in the general, q&a, devs sections.
I read through some of the Stickies and and I'm okay with the rooting process and installing Froyo... I can just can't find anything about which to do first since I want to do both at the same time.

which rom are you going to install? most of cases, you do not need to root your phone to install rom by using CWM.
if you install a custom rom from any dev threads, your phone is already rooted after the installation.
Probably Cognition. Is the current version based on 2.2 or do I update to Froyo separately?
Yeah, I'm going to go with Cognition but I guess I understand this less than I thought.... is there a version that is 2.2 based? Also (sorry if this question should be somewhere else) in the Cognition thread, the installation instructions say to use ODIN if using version 6.X below. I downloaded what seemed to be the most current ROM, but its 3.04. And under the ODIN instructions, it says "Download link will say “Download Cognition v2.2 BETA X.X.X ODIN”. " Are these referring to two different things?
Thanks!

[Q] Super Noob; Help wanted :(

So I recieved a T-mobile G1 recently, and I wasnt satisfied with the stock rom. Before this phone, I had an htc aria and on this same site I was able to install the cyanogen rom on it, more or less with ease, but even with following all the guides on the forums, I havnt been able to flash a custom onto the phone.
Here what I have done so far:
I got the phone with the DMD64 build version so using the wiki I was able to get it to rc28 (or 29 im not sure I dont remember)
Then following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480 I think I rooted the phone along with installing the hardspl and update.zip
after I did that i flashed this rom? http://andblogs.net/2009/01/jesusfrekes-14-images-are-out/
After that, I downloaded cyanogen magpie cm7, renamed it to update.zip and tried to flash it, but on the recovery menu it said it could find the install script.
right now heres the info on the phone:
Firmware: 1.0
baseband: 62.33.20.08u_1.22.12.29
kernal:
2.6.25-01843-gfea26b0 [email protected] #1
build number:
kila_uk-user 1.0 tc5-rc8 116470 ota-rel-keys,release-keys
If some one could tell me how to flash the custom rom and what the radio stuff means or if you could just send me to a forum with everything already answered for me that would be greatly appreciated
(I've used the search bar and everything )

Yes you are on nonrootable rom.
I giving u guideline here follow it.
1. If you have already any older rom on your hand, then just flash it with pc odin
Then get root + cwm,
After that, you can update to newer rom with cwm.
2. If you dont hav older rom handy, just find last link on my signature 'when other method fail.....' Follow that link, then you will have rooted rom.
After that u can get cwm/ mobile odin and update newr rom with it.

Flash Rootable Stock ROM KL3
After flashing Enable USB debugging in Device (Settings>Applications>Development)
Download "CF-Root-SGN_XX_ODD_KL3-v5.0-CWM5.rar"
Extract it and Run "not-rooted-yet.bat"
wait for reboot.
This will roots your device and installs CWM recovery.

[Q] Need help with Flashing CM10 ROM on my SGS-I9000

Hi,
I need help with installing CM10 ROM on my phone.
**per forum guidlines, I tried looking a similar thread before posting this new thread**
(My SGS-I9000 phone specifications(below):
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9000DDJV9-CL312456 [email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.DDJV9)
I have ALREADY ROOTED my phone using "SuperOneClickv2.3.1-ShortFuse". However, I am unable to flash a new ROM. I am currently trying to flash "cm-10-20121208-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd" ROM using ROM Manager application. The ROM Manager initiates the flash successfully, but fails installation with two error messages (as listed below) -
E: Failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Also, note that the ROOT was successfull. I have installed 'Root Checker' app and verified that the rooting was successfull.
Please help. This is my first time...rooting the phone and trying to flash a custom ROM.
Thanks!

[Q] Updating S5830D

I have a S5830D 2.3.4
Baseband version: S5830DTLKI4
Phone has been rooted and unlocked.
I would like to update it to the latest official release from Samsung. I cannot do it through my carrier since phone is unlocked.
1. What is the latest OS version for this phone?
2. What is the procedure to update
Note: I don't care about backing up since phone needs to be wiped/reset to be given to someone else.
