Wtf is google playing at 4.4.2 Problems - Nexus 5 General

Just posted this in google forums as well...
Just got the update on my nexus 5...
Ok while it has fixed a few things like camera speed, vibration feedback etc there arw some things that have gone worse...
The camcorder is now extremely dark compared to the camera almost hardly visible when selecting video to record! And in quiet environments all i'm getting from sound recorded is hissing and static, please tell the devs to disable noise cancellation it's making a right mess of recorded audio!
One other thing i've noticed is 2 problems with the gallery app, first off there seems to be some sort of initial stutter when flicking through photos or scrolling that did not exist before on 4.4 and also theres an annoying delaying of a split second when tapping a photo to view full screen which didn't exist on 4.4 almost like the phone is struggling a bit when it shouldn't with the power of hardware that is in the phone, these did not exist in 4.4.

Agree, I find now more bugs on 4.4.2 than on stock 4.4.. what the hell. Gallery app is a disgrace now.

Google is becoming Apple with Rushing updates out and not fixing the problems.

Quick question. Please read :X

Ok, So the camera's 3.2 mega pixel and the video recorder records pretty low res.
Would it be possible to edit the recorder so that it can record higher res/better quality?
Or is there any apps or console commands to change this
Unfortunatly the camera is very poor and nothing will fix it. Thats all there is too it.
Ok, Well that didn't answer my question.
Any the camera isn't poor it works great, Its a bit crappy in low light but still it looks awesome and better then a 5mp camera phone from samsung.

I actually have to agree with this as I've had the G600 and that camera SUCKED no matter what PhoneArena says. I noticed i would only use the G1 for pictures so i got rid of the 600
I took a picture of my eye and then shooped the hell outta it. (I added alot of the spots and wrinkles :X)
This is a resized/croped version, Hell you can see the g1 reflection in my eye.

Ok you must not be able to read.
I'm not asking about quality of the camera.
Im asking if its at all possible to make video RECORDING better or higher res.
And what do you mean by nice fake?
If ur implying the pictures fake, Its not at all fake and was taken by my g1.
It depends alot on bandwidth of memory in the device. I dont know if it is possible right now to make a better/higer quality video recorder. If Google creates API's that take advantage of the full potential of the graphics chips we may get a better camcorder app.
I updated to hero and it seems to have a bit better video recording
but thats because of the codec it uses.

Seriously, read the freaking thread before saying something stupid.
As for the question, I'm sure a developer could create a new app for higher resolution video recorder because it has been done on other devices. Try requesting it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446769

post removed, misunderstood question
No, and the reason is:
A still camera has a longer exposure time and can dedicate more light overtime for each picture. A video has to a expose an image 30 times a second, so in order to expose properly the camera must take many pixels from the ccd and group them together as 1 pixel reducing image size for video. (I could be done by reducing FPS, but that will only go so far.)
And there is also issues with video format standards and the G1 ability to play back video to consider as well.
Heck, even my Canon 5D Mark II can only record video at 1/10th of the resolution it captures still images at. It does video at 1920x1080 or 2,073,600 pixels, whereas still images are captured at 5616x3744 or 21,026,304 pixels.
I think people expect far too much from a phone that has a camera that probably cost $15 to manufacture (the camera part - not the whole phone).
No I dont exspect it to do better i just wondering if it could.

[Q] Help:HTC One Camera Won't Focus,ALways blurry,see photos&video attached.

hi all.
this is my 2nd htc one as the 1st i had had a half black'd screen problem out of nowhere.(photo 1)
the auto focus wouldnt work especially in close range shots.
photo 2,3,4,is the shots , this 2nd htc one took.when i got this replacement i noticed this problem but didnt care as i dont use camera too often, but when i had a close look at it today, the focus would do auto focus reapeatedly for a like many times then stoped there ,with a very blurry picture,no matter how many times i press the screen to make it focusd, just wont do it.
unless i suddenly move the camera to take a further picture,it would focus a bit, but later when i stopped moving and stood my arm still, it happens again. only 1 or 2 photos i took out of 30 would be a "good" one like photo No.5 , but still not perfect at all...
check out the youtube video clip i uploaded to show you whats the video is like took by this camera...
Thinking this was strange behavior, I gave up .seeing as how I was able to take about 30 clear pictures while manually focusing before, went ahead and closed all apps, changed view modes, changed camera scenes, toggled from video to picture modes, restarted the phone several times and checked for available updates to the firmware. All with no luck.
My current firmware is still 4.1.2, as OTA hasnt arrived in my country NewZealand yet...damn...whats taking it so long.
will the new 4.2.2 fix this or should i just bring it back for another repaire (becuase most likely in NZ,it sux bcz you will not get a replacement straight away after a month) ?

Well these are horrible pics
I'd suggest using the option of touch to focus+snap.
Once you allow this option and you tap the screen it focuses and immediately snaps a photo, in my opinion it brings the best pics.

If that cheer you, gents, I have EXACTLY the same problem. My One was never dropped, nothing mechanically-abusive happened to this dmn phone, lens are crystal-clear - because I use the protective case.
My guess is faulty camera, which gets fckd up after some time of using it.
In my case, camera stopped working after OTA update to 4.3. I would blame the software update, but since so, so many folks have the same issue with totally various firmwares I'd rather go into thinking that this is a hardware failure.
One advice: if you are sure they're gonna give you new device, go for it. However, these bastards often try to "repair" the damn thing, which is of course the worst idea ever - they're never gonna put all pieces together, rather more likely, they will destroy 10 another things along the way.
I got to have to make a call to HTC - if they start talking about "the repair" - fck'em.
I will have to live with broken camera. I once gave the HTC One X, under warranty of course, and they did a mess to the device (squeaky noises while grabbing it, wifi module - broken almost immediately, after "the repair", battery life shorter more than a half than before giving it to "repair" and so on).
So, thanks, but no thanks.
I have the same problem, there isnt a way to repair it by software or something??

Depends on the lighting so not much can be done.
I've had the problem with my X once. It was in Hershey Park Arena (the old one) in one of the halls, taking a picture of a logo on a wall.
I've never seen it since. So it may be related to specific lighting conditions.
What happens at home, under low non-florescent lights?

Under non fluorscent lights, it is fine.
why i am worried is, i am using this phone from 5 months, and recently this change is observed and
at the same place , with the same model (moto x) doesnt show this lines/this behaviour.
so i thought this is problem my handset itslef.

from what you are describing it sounds like the issue only arises in just the right conditions. that means your camera hardware is probably fine and the problem can be seen as software related. Moto X camera software doesn't give you much in the way of settings to mess around with, so you should try third party apps that do have more settings. Maybe a more photography enthusiastic user can chime in here, but I'd think trying an app that has settings for different lighting conditions, stuff like white balance, etc might help.
I use stock camera myself, and not that much at that, but I do notice you can get completely different exposure of the same scene in the same lighting if you change something like the manual focus or the angle of your shot.
I have a Moto X and was facing a similar problem. Using a third-party camera app named CameraMx solved it for me! I dont know why or how but it worked for me! That app seems to correct those black and white lines in some way! Hope it works for u too!

HTC Camera Video fix?

The newest version makes the 1080p video all wonky. Does anyone know a fix?
People have said we should just use Fast HD or HDR but those both have really bad quality. I just uninstalled updates, but I really want the eye experience.
Any ideas?
What ROM are you on? Not many have eye experience working for this device so that may be the issue. What happens to your 1080p videos?

4.4.3 stock. I guess its not an official update, but it's from the UL version, I believe, so shouldn't it be bug free?

Sorry if its hard to see, but there's some color distortion in addition to the green bar.
Does that appear in photos? What about 3rd party apps? I've never seen the greenbar before and I've tried a lot of Roms. Color discoloration only happens to me on CM and Miui Roms in the past

This happens only on regular HD video. It happens with the latest HTC Camera update for 4.4.3 ROMs.
No solution yet, tho.
Mines also doing the same just noticed lol. Are you using xceed by chance?

Here's a photo:
I'm on Viper 7.0.2 using the xceed kernel. Might just be the HTC eye camera not working right on the m7 yet. I can't use the dual shot feature either
---------- Post added at 09:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:25 AM ----------
So I was looking into it and it appears that the HTC eye camera does not work with the m7 so go to settings>apps>camera and uninstall updates then go to play store and disable auto updates
Here's a video screenshot with default camera version:

It happens on all 4.4.3 ROMs. The HTC Camera app isn't meant for M7, you're right.
But the stock app really blows man. Seriously, it takes a good 3 seconds to switch from still to video mode. Who the hell was the smart aleck who thought that was a good idea?

As mentioned before this had been there since release LAST year. I don't see how this not being included would have changed your perception of what crap is. I'd ask but you would probably only list 1 or 2 things with any other listing still being a problem in KK.
This game is very addicting. I keep borrowing my dad's Nexus 5 just to play it.

I had several problems with LP not present in KK:
- bluetooth not working properly with car
- when the call screen is minimized, sometimes LP won´t end the call after pressing END
- loss of signal quality (much worse radio, might be related to the bluetooth problem)
- audio notifications at night used to be disabled in KK. Now, with LP, I have do turn wi-fi & 4G off at night so the phone won´t disturb me with notifications
- after 2-3 calls, I have to reboot the phone, because the call after that will be completely silent
Again, none of these problems existed before.
I didn't know this so thank you OP. I think the new feature that concerns me most is the addition of Interruptions to the notifications/sound profile. I like my alarm going off even know I put the phone on silent. :/
