I know this has been answered and discussed elsewhere, but I'm having trouble finding out how to do it, I'm sure I'm missing something
I'm on republic wireless moto x, and I've recently rooted it, but there's still a few things I can't do, for ex. xposed
from what I've gathered after not being able to install busybox, it has something to do with the permissions on the phone
can anyone shed some light, and tell me what I need to do?

Read the post at the url below. It describes how to get updates from Motorola cloud servers. It might be useful in getting unlocks for other phones. Please spread the word to anyone interested in an unlock for Motorola Android phones with Blur.

Once we get root this will be huge. Until then we need to remember this trick

you can see all the Motorola cloud stuff by going to testing and Motorola services. *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer gets you to testing. Don't know if this has any usefulness to it just thought id share.

Not much on the dialer trick

I hope root comes for the phone soon, the amount of VZW crap ware is crazy.
Has anyone tried z4 to see what happens?
I'm sure it doesn't work cause if its that simple we would be rooted

all of the available root options have been tried by various members of this forum and others as well. its probably going to be a while before we get root.

Time is what it takes, and it has to be made worthwhile for devs to spend their time on it. ICS is coming and lets face it many will be looking to that as the next great frontier.
I know from various forums that with the confirmed members who will put up enough coin a ambitious dev would get enough to easily pay for a D3.
Can the Droid 3 be used on T-Mobile if unlocked or rooted? I ask because I noticed a SIM card slot. Thanks..
So I called the number off this link below and they claim they can unlock the Droid 3 for AT&T and it would work on 3g. Also, they can do the same for T-Mobile but it would only work on Edge. Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone dealt with this site before? Thanks.

so i dont know but ive been derpin around and noticed a couple things....first off apparently there is a sdk that has been updated for the droid 3 over at MOTODEV site....i was looking through some settings and enabled data encryption which required a boot into some sort of recovery where the internal disk obviously allowed -rw access inwhich i was wondering if it would be possible to dump this process through ADB (maybe find handshake)....and a simple ls command thru term reveals bloatware galore
Have we looked at te exploit that the nexus users are using? They can root 2.3.3, 2.3.4, and now 2.3.5. Seems we should use their exploit if possible

Unlocked bootloader makes rooting easier. What works for them (unlocked) will not work for the Droid 3 (locked bootloader).

They say it's the XT860 which is technically not the droid 3 but the non CDMA version of it being deployed by Bell Canada (which should be easy enough to unlock for AT&T and T-Mobile)

Unless it's like the D2G, in which case it's locked from AT&T-Mobile.
Protip: call VZW Global Services and tell them you're going to India (no global plans over there - you have to either not use your phone or rack up a giant bill) and ask for the SIM unlock code. Account has to be in good standing and the device has to be on your line.
If you have 6 months of good standing you can just ask for an unlock with no reason given.

Will the Gingerbreak apk work on the Revolution? Thinking about taking a shot at it, since the pc is down. Any advice or confirmation is appreciated.

Come on guys, 107 people have viewed this post and no one has an answer??

Would you rather have 107 people saying nope, no idea, or would you like your thread relatively clean so that when the person with the answer replies, you don't have to sort through 100 pages of people who didn't have the answer. I think gingerbreak is the exploit that super1click uses to root the revolution though, so it is at least possible you can get it to work. Let us know how it goes for you, you may not be the only one wondering...
I used super1click and it worked fine with me if the gingerbreak apk is the same exploit I'm sure it will work and the cubed have a post here about plugging in hiss usb and did something simple and unplugged it and had it rooted so I'm sure its fairly easy to root

I used S1C on my revo... and I'm pretty sure it defaulted to PSNeuter. Just read through some of the rooting threads... I'm sure these questions are already answered elsewhere.
Hey guys, to reiterate, l don't have a pc to use. I was wondering if there was an APK download that would work. You can use the Gingerbreak APK to root the Droid X2, so l was curious if it would work on the Revolution. It does NOT seem to work. It runs and keeps spinning, but after 15 minutes of waiting I let it go. Z4root is also non functional on the LG Revolution. I have tried both without results. Do any other options like UnRevoked or Universal Androot work? Or are there any other APK files that may?

Is there anyway to take an app(Footprints) from a droid incredible or dinc 2 and run them on a Droid Bionic? I have played with rooting and ROMS, but with school and everything else going on, I just haven't had time to research it. If not, can anyone suggest a similar app for the Bionic. Thanks in advance.

don't think that is possible the htc apps are made to run only on htc phones like footprints and teeter i am sure it could be tampered with to work but i am sure it is a lot more work than it is is work and i am not sure about related apps to that google it?? there for a reason
I just did a google search for footprints.apk and found a site where you may be able to download it.
Just remeber that you do this at your own risk. I also don't condone piracy so make sure this isn't a paid app.
I had found the apk download, but was nervous about issues caused by it being an HTC app. Thanks for the advice. Was hoping someone else may have already done this. Guess I'll break down and do the research. Thanks again

So been reading a lot on the forum about this phone and what not and have a question. Can I root this phone so I can get wifi tether without affecting everything else on this phone? Really need wifi tether for school but really don't want to lose everything on here(I will if I have to but prefer not) I've rooted before on my sgs2 and evo 4g but it's been so long can't remember if it affects what's already on the phone if I don't install a new rom. Your answers are much appreciated and thanks in advance!

Rooting doesn't cause any sort if data wipe. The only functionality that you lose, that I am aware of is 1) using the recovery, the exploit breaks that, so you need to fastboot to do a "factory reset" and you can not take an ota update... Aside from that, I do not believe it breaks anything else.

One of my sons deleted the other's profile in the Magic Timer app (Oral B/Disney). Is there a way to recovery the data without root? I might even consider with root, but I'm a little nervous, being on Republic Wireless rooting my X2.
I'm really tempted to root my phone since it seems many of the recovery programs seen to require it, but I'm not sure if they'll actually do what I need to have done.

Sometimes the app keeps data of users on the own carpets the app creates when you install it. To access that carpets you need root.

Ok. Is there a root option yet for the Moto X2?
I have to be careful. It's a Republic Wireless phone.

Thanks. Not I just need to figure out how to get there from this app. I can't quite figure out when I'm reading a post from an Android notification how to get back to other parts of the forum.

I subscribed to the forum of Moto X 2014 and I can see all the topics as a list. But you need to see the post in a PC because you will need to download some files and flash it via fast boot.... Long story short, you can't root your phone via some app or something look me that.
