stock rom to rocket rom v9-kl3

hi, im new to in android. currently I rooted my phone with zergrush+CWM v3.0 installed. my question is, should i install [ROM] 2.3.6 Deodexed STOCK XXKL3/Modem DDKL1 - MultiCSC - Rooted (CF-Root-KL3, CWM5) before flash to Rocket Rom v9-KL3? I tried several tricks like FULL wipe before install the zip file in CWM recovery & also did FULL wipe after install the rom. but I still getting a bootloop.

[Q] Rooting privileges lost

Hi, i recently updated to a new custom rom.(from rocket rom gb v23 to rocket rom ics v1)
Unfortunately it looks like installing the new custom rom made me lose my root privileges on the phone.
Is there a quick way to root the phone again?
Do i need to follow the guides to root the stock rom and apply them to the custom rom or is it different?
Thanks
If I were you I would be careful since RR ICS has a Samsung kernel that might have the brick bug..
You're better of using PC Odin and flash one of the prerooted GB ROMs, get CF-Root for it and then flash RR ICS from there again if you would like
The thing is that i was on a cf-rooted gb custom rom before flashing rr ics v1, but on rr thread, in order to install the ics rom from the gb one, they say to first flash abyss kernel 4.2 - full wipe - and the install the ics rom.
I think that's the passage where i lost root, but i may be wrong.
Would restoring a clockworkmod backup with gb custom rom(rr v23) be ok?
One more question, what's the difference between flashing with odin(never used) and flashing from recovery?
Thanks for your reply
Flashing through AbyssKernel should not cause you to loose root, it just sometimes happens :/
I think it would be safer to follow the PC Odin route and flash a prerooted GB ROM, get CWM recovery and then do your flashing/restoring from there
PC Odin communicates directly to the bootloader when flashing, hence it's safer, while CWM uses the current kernel you have so if you're on an affected kernel you're at risk

Criskelo's ICS 10.1 instalation guide

hi there, can someone guide me how to install criskelo ics 10.1 rom, i use to flash rocketrom before, so i think i got some skill on flashing custom rom...but itried to flash criskelo 9.1 last week n the result my note got hard brick, cant turn to download mode or recovery mode... luckily, i still got waranty on my note and sent it to SS n get new board as replacement...so can some one guide me the safest way to flash this rom...now im on stock ics 4.0.3 rom n rooted...
CRISKELO IS A VERY GOOD ROM BUT TRY WAIT A LITLE MORE TIME GET BETTER IN HIS VERSION ICS BECAUSE I AND A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE A LOT OF PROBLEMS , THE SAME WAY YOU INSTALL ROKET YOU INSTALL CRISKELO,
BUT IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE THIS IS THE STEPS
FROM THE ORIGINAL GB
ROOT YOUR PHONE WHIT CF-Root-SGN_ZS_MUL_KK1-v5.0-CWM5
THEN INSTALL ABISS KERNEL REDPILL GO TO ADVANCE AND REBOOT RECOVERY
WIPE DATA, CACHE,DAVLICK CACHE
AND INSTALL THE CRISKELO ROM
BUT TO ME IN THIS WAY THE ROM CONTINUE TO GIVE ME PROBLEMS:
SUPERSU ASKING FOR PERMISS FOR ALL APPS
BATTERY PERCENT NOT SHOW CORECTLY
IN THE OTHER HAND CRISKELO VERSION 7 IS A ROM WHITOUT ANY PROBLEM VERY RECOMMNDED:good:
so which rom is best for now
If I were you, I would:
1. Download abyss kernel (this is a gb kernel so it should be safe)
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/...rnel/AbyssNotekernel42CWTouchOriginalLogo.zip
2. Install abyss from cwm (don't do any wipes)
3. Still in cwm, go to advance and reboot cwm
4. Do the three wipes (cahe, dalvik and factory)
5. Install criskelo's rom
It should be done.
That's how I installed,
I'm using criskelo's rom with glnotecore kernel and everything works fine.

Need double confimation before flashing

Hi,
Currently I am still on GB CheckROM v5 with franco kernel 6.Never flashed any ICS ROMs before. Now I would like to finally upgrade
So before flashing ICS ROM,i would like to double comfirm the steps which i have read
1.)Boot into recovery and install GB abyss kernel 4.2
2.)Reboot recovery to abyss kernel(Can i restart phone?)
3.)Wipe data / cache / dalvik
4.)Flash ICS ROM
5.)Reboot phone
Side Qn,I have GB apps that is not updated to ICS compatibility, if i try to restore them, will it cause conflict?
Thanks!
If you're on a rooted GB, you don't need the Abyss step.
Also, when you move to ICS, using NoteCore, SpeedMod, any CM9/10 kernel are 100% safe to flash from.
ROM recommendations, CleaNote, KingDroid 7.1 and Asylum 20 (CM9-based) are my favorite.
Have a look to 'ROM Switching' on my signature.
Hi dr.ketan
I have read yr ROM switching guide.Great guide btw
I would like to clarify that the steps are for stock ICS ROMs?
cause I would like to flash from checkrom GB straight to criskelo's ICS V11.2(Post #2 says flash abyss then to criskelo ROM).I do not have to flash stock ICS ROM first correct?
Thanks!

Click to collapse
Thats tutorial is right..
Just flashing the rom from franco kernel..
But if u're not sure with franvo kernel n want follow all the tutorial u can do it..
2.reboot recovery to abyss kernel thats mean had u flash abyss kernel u must reboot recovery..
U can do normally reboot but u will get stuck..
Don't be afraid,u can use home + volume up +power button...

[Q] [HELP] STOCK ICS -> JB Rocket Rom V3

Hi everyone, I had rooted my Stock 4.0.4 ICS N7000 Note by the Temp CWM method and install SU.zip
After i rebooted my phone, it back to the stock recovery <3e>:laugh:
It is safe by following step, if i going to rocketrom V3.
1. Flash the "PhilZ-cwm6 - Safe Stock Based Kernel v3.5" in recovery <3e>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
2. Boot in PhilZ-cwm6 , then install hydracore STDV12, -> full wipe + format system
3. Install Rocketrom JB V3
4. Enjoy JB new feature ?
Is it possible to do this without brick my GNote?
wow now you are thinking of being safe? temp cwm.zip is the main unsafe guy here.
any ways
flash philz, boot into recovery, no need for hydracore., just format and WIPE and install jb.
Thank you very much
I am worry about the risk using this method.
It seen very easy to install JB
Anyway, thanks so much
