Sorry if this isn't the right pace to ask this but I posted on another forum and didn't get an answer. I have a t-mobile HTC One that I recently switched over to straight talk. I'm now using an At&t sim. I have a few questions about this. First, who will I received future updates through, t -mobile or At&t? Also, it looks like I'm still running the same T-Mobile software with their apps and settings even though my service is through At&t. Is that how it's supposed to be?

You are still carrier branded. You will receive updates through t-mobile. If you want to get rid of these apps simply root your device.

So you think TMO is going to push the updates over the ATT network? How does that work? Or are the updates pushed directly from HTC?
HTC only pushes updates to unbranded devices. The providers push the updates to their devices. Since you bought your phone from t-mobile, you will get updates from them. That is why you have these t-mobile apps. Your new provider won't affect your OS or your firmware. You have just access to their network through your At&t SIM.

I hope the OP updates this thread when 4.4 happens... To confirm what happens.

Yeah I'll post what happens once I get 4.4. I can't believe I wasn't able to find an answer about this anywhere online. It just doesn't sound right that T-mobile would be able to send me an update if I'm not on their network, but I don't know much about this kind of stuff so I'm probably wrong.

I almost posted that I doubt it would work, but then it occurred to me that the About/Update menu may actually go to a URL to check for updates, in which case it would work. However, I don't think that TMO will be able to push the update to your phone, because I think that would require them having your IMEI active on their servers.
Looking forward to your post (not least because it means I'll then have KitKat)!

I currently have the unlocked 32gb HTC One that I use on Net10. I have heard that there OTA updates for the phone. How do update my phone since I use it with Net10? And no, I do not want stuck in a two year contract lol... Thanks....
Settings - About - Software updates
You'll need some forms of Internet connection.
But does this work on a non contracted phone. I just buy a card every month for my phone for unlimited everything.
Yes it does, the contract does not affect your updates. Unless the phone is branded. What is your software number?

Not sure if any updates have come out for that yet. But your contract wont affect it.

Tap Phone Dialer
Dial “*#*#682#*#*
If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to install
Hey guys,
I'm on ATT but im thinking of getting a TMO Note 4 and using it on ATT. I've done my research and the TMobile Note 4 has all the bands that ATT uses for normal LTE, however I haven't figured out if it supports ATT's Carrier Aggregation bands or even if the ATT model does. The one thing I haven't found is if I will get VoLTE and HD Voice when in an equipped market using the Tmobile Note 4 vs the ATT one. I know that its a standard but I'm curious if ATT blocks non ATT branded phones from accessing it.
Any first hand experience or someone who knows this stuff would be amazing.
Thanks everyone!
If you use the correct APN and activate the settings in the hidden menu then yes you should get VOLTE on your Note 4. I have it set up on mine, but VOLTE isn't active in to many places for AT&T yet. I've only seen it working one time and not in my home town.
If you search this firm there is a thread about activating it on your phone.
And if you look here--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172110
The first APN should let you use VOLTE on the phone.
The only place I have seen it work was at the train station in down town Chicago though. Even in the rest of the city is not turn on yet.
As for the agrigation, it won't be rolled out abridged soon. And won't increase you speed when it does roll out. I think they plan on having it in 20 city's by the end of 2016... so most places won't see it at all on this device.

Awesome to hear thank you, now I just need to find a trustworthy person selling a new Note 4 and to sell my iPhone 6 Plus. What is it that needs to be done in the hidden menu?
One more question, I understand that I won't get updates with my ATT sim but if I put in a Tmobile pre paid sim can I download any updates then move back to my ATT sim? I want the TMobile one just because it's cheaper and I like root, I have no interest in putting any roms on it and i really don't want to update manually when lollipop is released.

No idea if the OTAs will work on a prepaid Sim. Of you have root you can flag the updates. The easiest way is with Odin. Is very simple, and IMO causes less issues than taking an OTA.

Oh I totally forgot about odin, so when an update comes out from tmobile I can get the odin file and flash it through the program instead of taking an OTA without having to install a custom recovery? Where can I get the odin files, do I have to wait for someoneon here to release it or is there an official source?

Normally within a few hours of the release of the OTA you can get the files from here or from Samsung's page.

Thanks for all the help, would you perhaps know the link to samsungs page, I wanted to check it out and bookmark it for future reference?
Hi, I have a Nexus 6 that was originally tied to AT&T, but I unlocked it and it uses another carrier now, however I just got the message to update to 5.1.1, I always do it using fastboot because I'm rooted, so I looked for the image at google's website, and it says that's only for T-Mobile having said that, should I still update knowing that my phone is no longer using any carrier? would that (somehow) lock my phone again against a us carrier or cause some weird behavior on the phone? thanks in advanced, and I appreciate your help!

Yes, update. There's several threads on this already.
Thanks a lot, I do apologize for repeating the same question, I just wanted to make sure since it's weird that google posts an image "only" for T-Mobile. Does it matter if I use the one for "Sprint" or "T-Mobile"?

I would recommend the Sprint version, as it is being pushed to international users. That being said, you can use the other and it should work as well but there may be unnecessary or missing features.
Excellent, thanks!!
I'm about to switch over to tmobile and I swear I once read a thread that said something about needing an att sim to get updates. I was unable to find that thread. Does anyone have any experience with this phone an tmobile?
Not positive, but pretty sure they will not. Since ATT pushes out the updates to their devices, if the device isn't registered on their network I don't think you'll get it.

I just called an att technician and he said I'd still receive them. Although I'm doubtful I will.
Dear friends; could your tell me if I will get the upgrade to M if I left Verizon for Vodafone? I live in Europe. There are many different opinions about...please help me in understanding how things are... Thanks

If you're the same user from droidforums.net, you've gotten a definitive answer a few times. If that's someone else, my apologies, the details from the post over there, and yours over here are exactly the same. It should work. I've seen AT&T and T-Mobile Droid Turbo users pull the 5.1 Lollipop OTA when it was released last July. The update will be pushed via the updater service on the phone (from Motorola) and not from Verizon. You can even pull the OTA without having a SIM inserted, and without having activated the phone, so being on Vodafone should not affect anything.

Plus if for some reason you don't receive the OTA, you can always flash it manually when it is released. It will be posted many different places, including here on XDA.
