[Q] AT&T Kitkat root? - Moto X Q&A

Short and simple. I want my Moto X rooted.
If I can keep my pictures through this process thats cool. I have folders and such set up that took me forever to do. Pictures are backed up so thats not really a problem. All my apps and music are replaceable.
If I have to downgrade to 4.2.2 I dont mind. I would probably end up staying there til Kitkat gets more app support.
Would I just need the 4.2.2 Camera OTA and use RSD lite to flash that?
I miss my S3..... ;(
AT&T XT 1058, Non-Motomaker, bootloader is locked.

I am aware of these threads. The first step for 4.4 root is to flash to 4.2 and i'm not quite sure on those steps.

Unfortunately you can't downgrade and keep your data. You will need to erase user data when downgrading to 4.2.2 otherwise your phone will boot loop.

Ive looked through all the threads linked and they all require I flash back to 4.2.2 but all the download links are giving me a "File not found". Not a 404 error. Is there somewhere else I can get the ROM?

So would I just put that file in RSD, put my phone in fastboot and flash that? Then use Pwnmymoto or Rockmymoto?

Step 1 is to download and flash back to 4.2.2. Step 4 is to flash the 4.2.2 bootloader only.

Use RSD Lite and the proper SBF. No, you don't need root.
I hate to be one of those guys that says "search," but all this has been discussed many times. You really need to look at some of the other threads and do some research.

Root/recovery

Hey guys just received brand new HTC one out of the box. Just wondering quickest method of root right now and what people are using for their recoveries. Yes I have researched but I see a lot of things out there. I'm sure one of your guys response would be quicker. If you could post links for root and a good recovery that would be appreciated. I'm on 4.2.2 thanks in advance.

I assume you have the international unlocked One, not any of the U.S. carrier branded Ones.
1) Go to htcdev.com, create an account. Choose the option to unlock the bootloader. You need the fastboot drivers. Easy to find
2) Once you're bootloader unlocked, flash TWRP recovery from this link:
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
3) Install SuperSU once u have TWRP(the app will be installed automatically). Run the app
4) You're rooted. Very naize
P.S. I would advise u to S-OFF your phone after rooting it, coz certain ROMs aint compatible with S-ON, ur default. So, before installing the 4.4.2 OTA, flash ARHD 31.6, run the rumrunner tool

Verizon wireless u.s.a and I'm on 4.2.2 and I waited to update to kitkat because I didn't know if there was an exploit for root and stuff like that. Can my bootloader still be unlocked? Keep in mind I'm 100% stock on 4.2.2 I just kind of need to be steered in the right direction on what to do next seeing as though there is an overwhelming amount of mods out for this phone.

Yeah, u need to use rumrunner tool, not the HTC dev unlock.
http://rumrunner.us/downloads-2/
Download for Verizon, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AND PRE-REQUISITES CAREFULLY
And, btw, this is not the thread for the Verizon One. Hence, there are no ROMs which support the Verizon variant. Flashing a ROM from the development thread for HTC One WILL BRICK UR PHONE. Make sure u flash ROMs/MODs for the Verizon One from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one
FYI, if u want the most mods/roms, u should have bought the unlocked One

[Q] Xperia z1 14.3.A.0.757 Vroot

Hi guys,
I have a xperia z1 running 4.4.2 14.3.A.757 and i was wondering if i could use Vroot running 4.4.2 to root my z1 or do i have to downgrade to 4.2.2 the open Vroot and start the root process.
also i was wondering if i could open root with many android and root with 4.4.2 rather than 4.2.2.
Have been trying to follow Shem's video on youtube, the root with may android binary method when i open the runme.bat file it says out of date?
Or is there a way when i can root using 4.4.2 without
-unlocking the bootloader
-downgrading
-loosing all user data.
Im a noob to all the root stuff haha!
thanks brandon

To be honest I haven't a clue! Haha, I followed shems video on YouTube to root with binary method and when it got to flashable zip on the sd card twrp didn't seem to recognise the zip so I have to start the phone up with no os.. Flashed stock rom with flashtool. Tried to root the other day with the root many android and opened the install.bat file and it said it can't run supersu because my phone was out of date?

There is absolutely no need to root the phone using bin4ry, root many android, kingo or any other method. Shems videos are overkill (IMHO) and have unnecessary steps
