ANYWAY to reduce it? Maybe using another app? Or messing with the settings on the moto x camera?

I can only assume you're talking about the "silent camera" add on. This is for turning off the SOUND the camera makes (which is unnecessary as this is already an option in the app). I believe OP was talking about noise as in signal noise, not sound

Try doing a clean install of 4.3 and using a different kernel.

I personally use M-Kernel. But my two favorite kernels are M-Kernel and FrancoKernel. Both can be found in the Nexus 7 Original Development section.
You should install CM 10.1.2.
Everything seems to work and my Nexus 7 is faster than ever. I was running Paranoid Android and it was laggy as hell.

Maybe you have filled the SD card too much. When the nexus has very low free space, it slows down significantly.

You can try running an fstrim on your storage.

I thought 4.3 has that enabled by default.

Disable Halo.
If you're running stock 4.3, disable Google currents. This is a tried and tested fix that should fix any choppiness.
If the problem still persists, follow what veeman said and try using other kernels

Ok, thanks. It helped a bit but is it still possible to smooth it out more? or maybe it's just the hardware now.

You could try running an app like Forever Gone SD card cleaner. And using Greenify to hibernate apps that are running in the background might help.
nice
yes have problem

Holy ****, why does this work as well as it does?! I use currents all the time on my N4 without issue but WOW what a difference it made uninstalling it on my N7.

Lol, thought they would have fixed that by now. I guess not.

Just got a first gen 32gb model running 4.3 and it's just fine. I did go into Developer Options and turn off those silly 1x animation things to "off".
Might want to give that a try.

Double tap and drag it to the X at the top. Halo is still buggy on 4.3.
If you have hundreds of apps installed, use Greenify. Sorry, root is req.

Isn't this generally the same with all devices?
For example, completely fill up your computer's hard drive and test how laggy it is compared to when it had nothing but the OS installed.
I have noticed that sometimes both of these functions stop working randomly and only return upon a reboot. Anyone else have this issue?

I haven't used camera twist much, but I haven't had any problems with it. Also none with active notifications. What are you running on your X?
I'm just running stock rooted 4.4

Active Display is working for me but not Camera Twist.

No problem with either of those features for me. You might want to try a factory reset.
any recommended lightweight app?
I use the torch built into Gravitybox

droidlight - its all budget all the time but its from Motorola Mobility, so it should be 100% safe to use.
Torch toggle from gravitybox.
Does it make much difference? I am using the Motorola one but I'm wondering why you would ask - do different apps provide a brighter light?
The one I linked above is super simple.open it, the light turns on.open it again, it turns off.easy as could be

I'm not sure what is the Motorola one? Do you mean Droidlight LED Flashlight? Looks it will automatically turn off when screen time is up.

That's the Droidlight LED Flashlight, I saw some comments that it will automatically turn off when the screen time is up, do you have the same issue?
No, but motto puts a time limit on the led. I assume it is to protect the led from over heating.

TeslaLED

Been using this one since my Driod 1. Lets you use screen or LED and seems to be very lightweight (would have posted the actual link, but I never really posted to XDA... just mainly read. Need to get rid of the stupid post restriction)
I use the flashlight in Power Toggles. I keep a set of toggles on a lock screen widget (WiFi, sound mode, Bluetooth, flashlight, GPS) and the flashlight is one of them.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
TeslaLed, you can set a widget with it that automatically turns it on. It also has strobe options I believe. But it also works great with Tasker as it is built in as a plugin or 3rd party options. I exported an app with Tasker App Factory so I can activate it via voice as well.
Hello all,
As I am still a new member, I was unable to query this in the Fauxkernel thread.
Does the Faux123 Kernel Enhancement app allow colour calibration on the Moto X? If not, is there another kernel / app that does work on the Moto X?
Thanks.
Bump.
Is no one able to confirm this?
As far as I remember this ability was removed in kit Kat. Don't quote me... But I'm pretty sure that's it.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm looking to get a Moto X, but am not really a fan of the oversaturation inherent to AMOLED screens. So I'm basically looking for something that can help tone it down to a reasonable level.
Had a Nexus 5 before, so I was spoilt
No, there isn't any setting on Faux123 app to alter the colour calibration.

Cool, thank you.
On the fence with rooting but this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hankarun.nightmodewidget would push me over if it works on stock rooted rom. Anyone care to try and reports back?
Thanks!

It doesn't work. It only dims the screen. Color profile is unchanged. This feature is built into Resurrection Remix (maybe CM13 too, not sure) though.
Also, this app works and will do what you want without root: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.ne.hardyinfinity.bluelightfilter.free
Thanks. Bummer, the nightmode widget worked so well with my GN. With it only are red pixels used so resolution wasn't great but night vision was preserved. Kernel dependent unfortunately.
The overlay filters are helpful but not as effective for astronomy.
