Alright, let's finally get all this off topic chatter out of development forums
Welcome to the place for us to hang out when we want to talk about things other than phones
This is posted in the Incredible S general because its intended for us to talk as an Incredible S community, not in the off topic forum
I think it would be best to keep personal things like where we go to work/school out of this, as this forum is a public place that anyone can see
Also try to keep things clean, as we have young people among us
Any incredible S user is welcome here, don't be scared by anyone Australian, feel free to ask questions too
I'm thinking new topics every now and then, or we can just go where the thread takes us

a friend of mine bought iphone 4s from usa and got it unlocked and is using it... is it illegal or legal...
EDIT: what the hell is funny in this... he got an iphone under contract and is now using it with indian sim card from indian operators... i wanted to know that will he get warranty or not...

LOL.. But he didn't give the technical details about the device like IMEI so it doesn't matter.. There are thousands of unlocked US contract devices used in India.. And no one ever cares there for that..

Farewell nexus 7 - fire

I lost my nexus 7 in a house fire.. Nov 18, 3am. :'(
Everybody got out.
People... store your important data in 2 different physical places..or encrypted (aes256 or better) on the cloud. or you may lose it all like me.
All I got grabbed from my house was my phone.
I will probably buy a nexus 7 once we get a place to live and I can afford one again.

yeah, thanks everyone..in the event I found it, maybe I'll post a pic.
my brother found his, but the screen was cracked and was a little damp/smoky/sooty. but my room's whole floor halfway fell down to the next story. I found my laptop but it was burn to a crisp. I pulled the hdd, and am hoping that it might just work.

Man, that really sucks. The nexus 7 can be replaced. Thank god everyone got out safely.

Thanks everyone.
Our house was over 100 years old and had some problems and we couldn't afford insurance or to get it up to code so that we could get it insured.. we heated with wood, but that was not the cause!
it was electrical, started in the front basement and burned up, then over, until the firemen got it out finally. It was 5 stories tall, built on a hill, so the back part of the house didn't burn.
Sadly my room was in the top attic floor in the front of the house and my whole floor collapsed. I have my phone and motorcycle, but I'll have to get a new key.
But we have been showed kindness by friends and neighbors, the salvation army and the red cross. We're staying at a friend's place for the time being.
The good news is we bought a foreclosed house like a year ago, so once we get it fixed up we will have a place to call our own again.

After that, I'm done porting and I will be upgrading to either the iPhone 5 or the HTC One or S Blaze​

I've thought about getting a Windows Phone. Specifically the Lumia 521. I love the UI and hardware but I think not having apps like Instagram would be hard (its my favorite social network). I have also thought about the LG L9.

I've thought about the One S or the iPhone 5 because no one has the One S that I know and everyone that I know has an iPhone, and I feel left out. XD

The iPhone 5 is nice. Especially the camera. I would get one but I cannot afford it. I would get the iPhone over the One S, better hardware and the new iOS update should be pretty remarkable with Johnny Ive handling it.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. So 1 for One S and 2 for iPhone 5. The vote will end by May 15th.

One s, you can always count in devs for android devices. The iPhone us crap, my uncle gas one and so dies my brother and they hate it. It's worst then thus pine in my honest opinion

Anything but an iPhone. My list is s4 note 2 n4 s3. I hate iphones and HTC phones

I might get a nexus 4 or an Htc phone/S4. I'm still debating to get an iPhone though, since only one of my friends has them.

Good luck with that. Theres going to be a day when apple loses its spot in the spotlight and goes after everyone who jailbreaked there software to make up for loss. Just like im sure they had something to do with making phone unlocking illegal.

So my wife has an HTC one. She hates it. She's been scouring craigslist to see if there's someone asking for trades. Before I go online and post the ad , is this phone still considered straight trade material for an iPhone 5 ?? Specially now that the 5s is coming out this month. ??

its upto you. itll take a few months for some guy that hates the 5S to offer a trade but i dont think anyone would do a straight swap without some cash on top

I would. But I'm not sure why I would have an iPhone, so I don't see that being possible, but theoretically if I had an iPhone, I would swap it for a One.

Well she's trading it and doesn't like blinkfeed and the whole ui setup . I own the HTC one also and I love it. She doesn't like rooting or modding and doesn't care about os updates . I knew what answer I'd get here. Just want to assure myself I don't have to put money on top for a trade.
