Z1 Proximity sensor and touch - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Just wanted to ask if there is a connection between the proximity sensor getting covered and the screen losing touch? Since I have applied a screen guard that cover the whole screen and it's a very thin one

[Q] [Xperia T LT30p] Front panel lifted!

My Xperia T's front panel/screen/faceplate lifted from the bottom half. Phone still works fine, read all my touch controls. but it may proved problematic soon. I see black strips which assumingly is the adhesive strips/gasket around the phone.
I do not know how to disassemble the phone, nor do I want to if it's not necessary. I can find the video and watched some myself. But from what I see, disassembly does not include my problem, they showed how to remove screw to get to the screen/digitizer in one. but how to "glue" it back.
Now I'm seeing some LOCA adhesive glue on eBay, maybe I can just buy it, apply a very light layer on and around the edges/adhesive strips, and push it in and over UV light for a minute, maybe it'll stay glued. the LOCA adhesive liquid also doesn't seem to damage or lose touch effectiveness on other phones, like Apple or Samsung, but I don't know about Xperias.
What do you think? How can I fix my problem the easy way? or any way?

This happened to mine when I dropped it, kinda panicked and pushed it back in. That's my advice just apply a bit of pressure and it should click back in fine.
Just to make sure for me it was the part where the shiny plastic at the front meets the matte plastic back, is that where it lifted?
Is it possible for you to post a picture? Because if it

If it is like the person above me described then you can push it back in with some minor pressure.
If it's separated so that you can see the screen is lifted above the shiny plas

That the screen is lifted above the shiny plastic then also there is no problem and with the right amount of pressure you can click it back in.
Sorry for the triple post btw

Any way to increase sensitivity of ambient display?

Many times my phone doesn't wake up when I pick it up. My old moto x was almost too sensitive at times... Which I prefer at this point.
Any suggestions?
Are you using a screen protector? Mine became 10 times more reliable when I binned my glass screen protector.

That really can't impact the bump sensor.

I understand that the motox uses an array of proximity sensors.
The Nexus 6 uses its accelerometer. I.e., it detects actual motion rather than presence.
Completely agree. A lot of times when I remove my phone from my pocket, ambient display does not wake my screen.

What am i looking at here? SonyZ 3

Hi Guys, Im all new so sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, I deliverede my Z3 to the repair center yesterday since water apparently got into it, Today they send me these pictures?...but i dont know what im looking at?....The phone was subjected to water and crashed, All thought all seals and what not was closed, Im certain they will claim it my fault, but believe me double checked the flaps...Anyways...What am i looking at?
if i'm not mistaken that that's the vibration motor. and that white much could be the water damage ?
It looks to be where the strap hole is located, maybe a speaker? Or as mentioned above.
EDIT: Apologies, I looked at that picture again and i was looking at it from the opposite side. Strap hole is located on opposite end.

To OP, I did some digging since I was curious myself about what that might be. I found this article, which shows a breakdown of the Z3 with detailed pictures. Hope this helps.

touch sensitivity with gloves

this make no sense, note 4 had it and note 8 doesnt,im from nyc,and its cold im on gloves and this feature didnt need to be taken out
1000 usd phone and doesn't have that feature.smh
can a op and developer make a zip or some way to get it on the note 8?
different type of touch sensor. note4 was pressure sensitive i believe(i COULD be wrong here). N8 isnt.
The note 8 is capacitive not resistive. And I would certainly hope so for $1000
Just buy gloves with screen touch fingertips

So if note 8 isn't pressure sensitive then how does the press harder on home onscreen button work ?
I was under the impression that it was pressure sensitive.

You are right. My wording was wrong. As another user pointed out. resistive vs capacative
and used to be able to use a pencil on screen....cmon Samsung

There is a pressure sensor only where the home button used to be. Not the entire screen. The touch tech is still capacitive.

You know this phone has its own pen right... And im surprised people are unaware of why capacitive is better than resistive. I would be pissed if i bought this device and it had antiquated tech such as a resistive touch screen. If you dont understand why its antiquated, then google it.

I didn't ask a question...look for information.... merely pointed out... it was possible to use a pencil on note series. .. don't need to Google anything... I'm not looking...

Exactly, I was using mine with the little touch sensitive gloves a week or so ago. The setting is gone, because I think it just picks them up automatically. But you have to use the specific gloves (I am not sure honestly what makes them different).

we talk to we blue to the face and this is bull crap, that should been there,i got friendly gloves but that day i had one that was for a formal event,,now im have to be with this same gloves no matter what.smh

What exactly is hard to understand about capacitive technology? It has nothing to do with pressure. Therefore there is no function to enable. I am surprised that anybody nowadays would buy a flagship and think they even still use resistive. If you didnt understand the tech you where buying, thats your own problem. You cant fault Samsung.

Yeah the folks that think the screen is resistive are talking out the side of their necks.
The pressure sensitivity of the home button is localized to that location. If you don't believe it check the diagnostic test screen, it has a pressure test and the only part of the screen where it registers is the home button.
The only other pressure is from the pen to the Wacom digitizer..

Well, I think that the OP is talking about a feature that past galaxy notes had, there was a setting to increase screen sensitivity for very cold or wet situations, but now, I think that the tech evolved in a way that such setting is unnecesary now
I think the reason why they removed it is not perfect. You know samsung... If they can't perfect it then they just remove it. The feature is a part of the floating touch technology of capacitive touch screens. But the problem is it fails most of the time when used.

iris scanner doesn't work through shades

My note 7 always worked when I was wearing my prescription sunglasses but not at all with my note 8. whats up with this?
Doesn't work with my regular glasses either...I think it's due to the coatings, anti-glare, computer, etc...its a bummer.
I think there's a software glitch or something. I rescanned my irisis and it was unlocking fine with my regular glasses on... But as soon as I turned on the setting where you don't have to swipe the screen for it to scan your eyes well it quit detecting my eyes with glasses on.
Mine works fine through seeing glasses, contacts, polarized shades.
Try setting your iris unlock up in the dark.

Glare is actually what prevents it from working with glasses. Anti-glare would essentially be a better situation over not having it

Well this makes me wonder if there's something wrong with my iris scanner.
Hmm. Well I made my room totally dark and now it's suddenly working with both my regular glasses and prescription sunglasses...
Mine is not working with glasses no matter what I do

Check the infra-red LED on the front.
Turn lights off, get another phone with a camera, start camera, point camera at top of Note 8, see if there is a blue (infra-red light) from the top of the phone. Look through the other phones screen obviously.
Wait, so let me get this straight.....
You're trying to do something you're not supposed to be able to do, or are advised not to do, and wondering if something is wrong with your phone because it actually isn't doing It? ?
