Hello all I boughty HD7 after my iphone got stolen and I aint totally in love with it but it is great. The marketplace will never compare itself to itunes wide array of choices but anyways on to topic.
Is it possible to use the internet to surf/check emails while on a call say with speaker phone enabled??? Because I used to do that ALOT with my iphone while talking with my girlfriend and it just wont work im T-Mobile btw.
Thx for your replies, Voyd
You are able to as T-Mobile is also GSM which allows simultaneous Voice / Data connection. CDMA only allows one at a time.
Try pressing the home button when on a call and then opening IE.
where you on edge or 3g? i thought that edge doesnt support data and voice simultaneously. ...so that couldve been your prob
Does the HTC One support true 3G video call with its dialer app?
Please don't come with suggestions like oovoo, Tango or skype etc.. No SIP, and not through some Internet service. I want true 3G video call where all you need is a 3G line and no 3rd party user account like on Skype and the likes. I prefer making calls (voice and/or video) through the regular 3G phone protocols. I trust my carrier a lot more than I do Microsoft and Google.
The chances are higher that the one you wanna call also has 3G and a 3G phone than that person has Skype or something else.
I had this on my Samsung Galaxy SII. As far as I can see HTC does not support 3G video call in its stock dialer.
Not sure if anyone else has experienced this problem, but it's happened since day one. When I call my wife and she answers I cant hear her but she can hear me. She has an Iphone 7plus. The kicker though is if she calls me then everything is fine. Anyone experienced this problem?
Bump
Probably not the same issue & is a result of my area that I had but with my Note 5.... when VoLTE first got turned on in my area I would have this problem a lot as well as dropped calls & long wait times for calls to connect or not connect at all. I disabled VoLTE & that took care of all that.
With my Note 8 I still have dropped calls issues with VoLTE turned on in certain areas. Much better than before but still is annoying to the point where I leave VoLTE off anytime I'm not at home or at work. But no issue where people can't hear me speak with my Note 8.

Ditto, i remember this in my area years back as they were rolling out VoLTE.
I got same experience but that is when I'm calling using a video call in some apps (well I only have WhatsApp and messenger and both got poor sound when I'm calling)
I hate hate hate Calling Plus. Voice and data worked so well on my Note 3, I often regret "upgrading" to the Note 8. Only reason I waited this long to upgrade was lack of voice + data on Sprint. But now that I have it, it's garbage.
Anyway, Calling Plus is particularly bad when I am at home. Voice calls are basically impossible. But they are better if I turn off Calling Plus. (For the record, almost no issues with voice calls on my Note 3.)
I always have to turn Calling Plus off at home because my calls work OK and I can get data over wifi. But I often forget to turn CP back on when I leave home, then I can't get voice + data when I need it. Is there a way to automate turning CP on/off using ITTT or some other tool? For instance, when I am connected to my home wifi turn CP off, then when I'm disconnected turn CP on.
Its because calling plus and the note 3 are different.
The note 3 had multiple antennas that handled 3g and lte as the note 8 does not have the dual antennas for 3g voice and lte to run simultaneously.
This is why ur call quality never changed, calling plus is making calls over lte, not over the 2g voice network as the note 3 would do and allow lte / 3g data over additional modem.
VOLTE is VOIP where the note 3 just had 2 anteanna for voice and data to use simultaneously.
You may be able to get the google settings to activate calling plus/wifi calling when you get home, and turn off when you leave, but i highly doubt youll find many options out there for this atm
I'm well aware what made the Note 3 the best phone ever available on Sprint and why I stuck with it for so long. I think I had two or three handsets before foolishly getting the Note 8. VOLTE is so bad that it is a net downgrade from the Note 3 IMO. None of the new features make up for the dual radios. (BTW I don't think it was dual antennas that did the trick it was dual radios.)
With the high cost of phones these days how much would it cost a manufacturer to put a second radio in one of their phones? I bet that would automatically be the best selling phone on Sprint. People do care about call quality and being able to have simultaneous voice and data. Sprint should encourage manufacturers to do this because it keeps a lot of people away from Sprint. It's absolute madness that there have been four generations of phones since the last dual radio phone.
Tasker would probably do the trick but I'm not rooted and have little reason to go down that rabbit hole anymore. Technically, this doesn't require rooting, just an app to change my Calling Plus settings whenever I'm connected to wifi. Does Tasker require root to do everything? Or can it operate without root for things that don't require it?
It was good to find out I'm not the only person that realizes how bad this sucked. Whenever I use it people can not hear me at all! I never upgraded to Oreo mostly because of the hotspot hack I heard no longer works.
Are you on Oreo and have you figured out a work around? I was going to update to Oreo to see if it gets better but don't wanna risk it
Thanks!

Thanks for getting back. Good to know since it was really the only thing holding me back .
Does the Calling Plus still suck for you?

Is your calling plus choppy on Oreo? Ppl cannot hear me on 7.1.1?
Good lock can do what you need. Under "routines" you can set any combo of if-then variables.
I just got my phone last week and I love it. Fast and reliable on TMobile near Detroit. My big concern is with TMobile talking about retiring 2G and 3G and with this phone not supporting VoLTE, will I be able to make calls on this phone 1-2 years from now? It seems like there is a good chance service for calls will be phased out before the phone will be obsolete? Am I over thinking it?
Thanks for any input.
