My nook shows green led when plugged in but doest start on power in press, tried home and power together for 20 secondscouple of times but no luck. I had applied the zip to allow outside apmarket apps but not rooted.please help -I haven't blocked auto updates and i think the new version caused the issue.
Is it possible to revert to original stock now!?

Home and power for 20 seconds is too longtime. Even if it tried to turn on, if would power back off before 20 seconds. Try for 8 seconds, then release power followed by n.
If you make a bootable CWM SD per my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature, you should be able to flash one of my plain stock zips in item 6 there. If you flash the rooted version, it should not successfully update to 2.2.

In reply to my own question. I forced the nook to upgrade to 2.2.0, downloaded the upgrade file stuck it on the internal SDcard and the nook did the rest. Once the upgrade was done root was borked. Rebooted with CWM and flashed with NookHD-HDplus-Universal-Root-rev2-(02.02.13).zip, rebooted and found that root was restored all seems to be working fine at the moment, certainly adaway successfully asked for root permissions and got them to download and update its files. I'll update if I find anything strange going on.

Is it possible to use power, home and vol up together to boot from the internal recovery ? I saw a YouTube video but it us not mentioned in nook support. When you updated did the nook boot after restart? Did it show anything on screen? Apologues if i am asking silly questions

I tested this and if you have universal root rev3, the update fails. If you have universal root rev2 or earlier it will break root. But you can get it back by flashing universal root rev3 again.
The enable unknown sources zip still works.

To get to internal recovery, from powered off press power and n together for about 8 seconds, then release power and then release n. Don't hold power too long or it will turn itself back off. It will boot to whatever recovery you have installed. Stock recovery looks different and will only ask if you want to clear data. You can do nothing else with it. If you have CWM or TWRP recovery installed to internal memory it will boot to them.

Is there any real reason to go to the trouble to install this update if you have rev 3? I didn't see anything in the official description that seemed compelling.

The only reason I did it was that I wasn't aware of rev 3 and didn't want the HD+ to be updating itself on its own whim which, looking at the B&N forums, it seems to be doing, with some mixed results. If I had had rev 3 I wouldn't have bothered. I was hopeful that the crosswords and hulu+ apps had been made uninstallable but they reappear after a reboot. The 'upgrade' seems to be more about B&N offering services than any improvement to the user experience, at least from what I've seen.

I read that in the Changelog and thought something HAD to have been changed, tweaked, or improved other than just that crap. Really disappointing...
On the bright side, the KitKat Rom runs pretty nice and doesn't seem to have any broken functionality.

So you confirm there is no way to get gingerbread on Orange Atrix for now?
I would add that CWM and gingerblur / greyblur are working for me using this:

Guys a little help needed please.
I have a Orange UK Atix and was on the stock rom and installed Gingerblur through Tenfars CW Mod, the problem being when it had installed and I rebooted from CWM my phone is stuck in a boot loop ( the phone wont go past the moto boot logo and has the LED notification light flashing red ).
Any ideas on how to resolve this?
All help is greatly appreciated.

No I can't confirm that but I'm not going to be the first to try!

Gingerblur is for the Atrix 4g isn't it? Is that not slightly different hardware? Ie you've probably bricked your phone. Although guy above said he flashed it so best pm him or try a reflash and wipe.
Personally I don't see the point in risking a flash for the same os with a gingerbread theme. Theres not going to be any advantage. I only put the other hacks as they are relatively risk free and you can unroot or remove the patched webtop etc if you have any issues.

yep this should fix it, but using gingerblur over orange rom is a bad idea, different framework files etc. it should work but i wouldnt recommend it, google UOT kitchen and you can make your own gingerbread theme for the orange rom as long as your rooted
How do I go to the stock android recovery?
hold vol down while turning on, then keep pressing it until it says android recovery then press vol up, then when it shows an android logo you have to tap the bottom right corner of screen a few times to get options to show up
Works great on t-mobile stock.

I recently purchased an Nook HD+ and I wanted to install the Google Play store and enable 3rd party app installs. I followed the thread here on the forums. I booted from the SD card no problem. I installed the GAPPS + Extras v2, and the Location services Zips. I removed the sd card and rebooted. Everything loaded fine, but I missed the prompt for enabling location services so I was going to reboot and reflash it. After the Nook shut down, it would not power on again. Any ideas what would cause this? Did I do something wrong or miss a step? Any input would be appreciated. I tried holding the power button for 30 seconds, and holding power and nook button while plugged in, and nothing helped. Got a new Nook and I wand the play store, but not another brick. Thanks!!
It is not bricked. Remove the SD and it will boot to stock fine. Some devices are finicky when trying to power on with a bootable SD plugged in. Just keep trying, sometimes just waiting a while and it will boot to SD too.

You can remove any extra apps you want, but it is best to keep some sort of launcher if you don't want zeam so you can still get to play store. The gapps themselves are on system and best to leave them there.

If you don't block updates, you will lose Play Store when it updates itself. And you may not be able to put Play Store back if they modify the ROM somehow to prevent it. Your installed apps will stay though.

Ok, so I got my hands on a new g2 that came with Verizon's VS98012B. Rooted it successfully in a snap with ioroot24. Then installed FreeGee and attempted to install TWRP 2.3.3.3.
Then things went wrong. FreeGee hung for a while, then it seemed to crash, opened it again, and 2.3.3.3 supposedly installed successfully immediately. Chose reboot to recovery, it turned off, and that's it.
It won't turn on. It's not boot looping. The LG screen never comes up. I can't get to any recovery. Power and Vol Down, don't do anything. I've tried every combo of power and the volume buttons but the most it'll do is a quick vibrate, again nothing on the screen though. It won't connect to the PC or charge.
Freegee F'd me hard. Anybody got any ideas? I literally had the phone for less than an hour... UGH
I went through the EXACT same process and i'm now in the same situation as you. I have a lg g2 vs980 on 12b with jellybean 4.2.2 (just got it yesterday). I rooted with ioroot22, then clicked twrp 2.6.3.3 in freegee which seemed to be stuck at the processing screen. I exited and went back in, and then freegee said complete or something. So i clicked reboot recovery, and bricked phone resulted. Completely black screen with no response at all. The only thing it does is vibrates a couple times if i hold power, but nothing more than that.
Another weird thing, if it's plugged into the wall or pc with a charger and i hold power down....a red led flashes 8 times and then the phone vibrates and then the red led flashes 8 times and this just repeats endlessly until i let go of the power button. Seems like the batterys dead but it was at 67% when i clicked reboot recovery so that wouldn't make sense. I'm currently charging the phone because there's really nothing left to do...i'm pretty sure it's a hard brick and i have no idea what caused it.
Freegee doesn't touch anything but recovery for 12b people. How did you reboot to recovery? The freegee app? When it hung was it stuck downloading? The zips it downloads are signed so it's not possible to get a bad download and it still try to flash it.
I'd really like to get the logs from freegee once you get it restored. Have you tried download mode?
No matter what you should be fine to still boot normally although I know you say you can't.

I have this same problem. Just tried to make a back up with TWRP 2.6.3.3 and it bricked. I've used TWRP to install a ROM before, and it worked fine. I recently went back to using Clockwork, but then needed TWRP to install Malladus and i tried making a back up and this happened. The only response I get from the phone is a single vibration while holding down the power button.

FreeGee does though, I used it to install ClockWork and TWRP recoveries before. I already had the file on my phone, so FreeGee just "installed" it and now it doesn't work. I've used it to backup and install before so it's weird that it would do this now. :-\ And what's this download mode you speak of.
Same thing happened to me. I rooted Verizon LG G2 used FreeGee and when first trying to go into recovery I got nothing. Same thing just vibrates when i hold down. Can't boot to recovery and can't boot into download mode. Need help......
ya i get the endless red led flash vibrate cycle thing with power button and when plugged in.
i took it apart and unplugged the battery for a while, replugged, reassembled and still the same thing. didnt help but figured i'd give it a shot.
i dont know what it was doing when it was hung. i believe it said 'installing twrp 2.3.3.3' or something like that. cant do download mode. cant connect to pc to do the lgtool restore thing. pretty much it seems like its hard bricked to me but i dont have much experience with this. btw, i think i may have had the phone hooked up the computer still in ethernet mode from rooting it moments before. i really cant remember for certain though.
man do i wish i just pushed this manually and skipped freegee. was my first time trying it.
Same deal here, and I usually flash recoveries through ADB. My fault for being lazy about it I guess. Would love to return the thing but I've already taken quite a few pictures with it.

How long did it take for the app to complete the install?
45 seconds to 1 minute
Sent from my LG-VS980 using Tapatalk
Mine was stuck on the processing twrp screen for at least 10 minutes.
Clicking back did nothing, but home button took me out. Then when i went back in, it was normal no problem. If i tried clicking back though, it would get stuck at the processing screen again even though i didnt tell it to do anything (i just clicked back). Then it quickly said complete or something, so i did reboot recovery and game over.
It looks like everyone here thats bricked just got their phone quite recently (like me)...something's definitely going on

No, the zips it downloads are signed, so if it's a corrupt download it won't pass sig check of the zip file, and it won't process it.

People have used freegee on 12b for months with no issues. I'm baffled why all of sudden in the last 24hours it seems several people have run into issues with twrp. I've disabled twrp for now until we figure out what the actual issue is.
Freegee itself does not alter anything except the recovery partition when installing a recovery on Verizon 12b. And it wipes and flashes the recovery partition in the same action. The boot stack is not touch, nor is any part of the system/boot partitions touched.
The fact that no one's device shows up in qhusb mode in windows means no one is bricked. No one's device is in bulk mode either, so the devices should be able to boot normal, or boot into download mode.
Nothing has changed with freegee in the last 24 hours, besides a beta build I pushed to the beta channel of the playstore. No one is running the beta currently according to google though.
Were you guys running anything else besides a pure stock rom? How did everyone root?
Everything was fine...all of the sudden as soon as I rooted the 701t the speaker just went to hell. It crackels and very distorted. I mean WTF, it was working fine before all the rooting and flashing..Now I am screwed of the warranty.

Everything was fine...all of the sudden as soon as I rooted the 701t the speaker just went to hell. It crackels and very distorted. I mean WTF, it was working fine before all the rooting and flashing..Now I am screwed of the warranty.

Maybe it can be fixed with a kernel?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
If it is over multiple roms it's more like to be a hardware issue. Other wise everyone would have the problem.
Simply rooting cannot affect the speaker - rooting installs two files and a script - that is it.
What have you flashed on top?
viper4android is a sound enhancer so yes flashing that will most likely break the speaker if it is not compatible with the device ....

By the way that is a way out dated way of rooting and has pushed you back to an old 4.2.2 kernel that you are now running on a 4.3 bootloader and android rom base so YES in your case that MAY have caused issues.
LOOK AT THIS:
Prerequisites: drivers, adb and fastboot (this), firmware >= 10.14.1.47, asus unlock app
What bootloader are you on?
Update your device to that latest stock from the asus website or flash CROMi-X to see if that recovers it.

Sounds like a hardware fault to me cos if you flashed back to CROMI-X or stock you are on the correct kernel.
Um on 4.3 stock

There are currently 3 different bootloaders for 4.3. When booting hold down vol down and power - the bootloader version is in the top left corner.

There's your problem (or the most likely cause) Incompatible bootloader.
Now you have the hard task of upgrading to 10.26.1.18.
OK. I got it working! I had to install the 4.3*V10.26.1.18*bootloader from an externally mounted sdcard.
Here's a "cookbook" of all the steps I performed ...
1. Unpack the device and fully charge it.
2. Meanwhile, go to the ASUS TF701T download site (http://www.asus.com/Tablets_Mobile/A...pport_Download).
3. Select*Android*as the OS.
4. Select*Firmware.
5. Download this to my desktop computer. It's the TF701T unlock utility:*http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Eee...01T_Unlock.rar
6. Unrar the unlock utility file (TF701T_Unlock.rar). I got this file*0820-0954_SIGNED_UnLock_for_TF701_repart.apk
7. Download this to my desktop computer. It's the 4.3 upgrade with the V10.26.1.18 bootloader:*http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Eee...8_SDupdate.zip
8. Unzip the 4.3 upgrade file (WW_10_26_1_18_SDupdate.zip). This file was extracted:*T4_SDUPDATE.zip.
9. Copy*T4_SUPDATE.zip*to an empty sdcard.
10. After the TF701T is fully charged, boot it up.
11. Do the most minimal setup possible, without even connecting to my Google account.
12. Power down the TF701T.
13. Insert the sdcard with*T4_SDUPDATE.zip*into the TF701T's sdcard slot.
14. Hold down the*Volume Down*and*Power*buttons on the TF701T to boot into bootloader mode.
15. Using the*Volume Down*key, make sure that "RCK" is flashing on the screen.
16. Press the*Volume Up*key.
17. The screen will go blank for a few seconds, and then the Android icon will show up with the dodecahedron moving as the software installs.
18. After a few minutes, the device will reboot back into the OS.
19. Message boxes will show up, indicating that apps are getting optimized and that the OS is being upgraded.
20. After a few minutes, the system reboot will be completed and the system will be up.
21. Do the most minimal setup possible, and do not connect to a Google account.
22. Go into*Settings -> About -> Software Information.
23. Click again and again on the*Build Number*section until a toast pops up, saying, "You are a developer!".
24. Go into*Settings -> Developer options*and select USB debugging. I also unchecked*Verify apps over USB, although that might not actually be necessary.
25. Go into*Settings -> Security*and enable*Unknown sources.
26. Connect the USB cable from the desktop computer to the TF701T.
27. Received this notification:*Connected as a media device.
28. On the desktop computer, issue this command:*adb push 0820-0954_SIGNED_UnLock_for_TF701_repart.apk /sdcard/
29. Using*File Manager*on the TF701T, navigate to /sdcard/
30. Select*0820-0954_SIGNED_UnLock_for_TF701_repart.apk
31. Select*Install, then*Open, and then answer "Yes" to all prompts.
32. Device will reboot
33. During reboot, messages will appear showing that the device is unlocking, and the "Device is unlocked" message appears on the upper left of the screen.
34. After that, device will reboot again. At the upper left of the screen, the "Device is unlocked" message appears during the boot sequence.
35. When the TF701T reboot completes, redo the mimimal setup.
36. Power down.
37. Remove the externally mounted sdcard.
38. Reboot.
39. Go into*Settings -> About -> Software Information.
40. Click again and again on the*Build Number*section until a toast pops up, saying, "You are a developer!".
41. Go into*Settings -> Developer options*and select*USB debugging. I also unchecked*Verify apps over USB, although that might not actually be necessary.
42. Connect the USB cable from desktop computer to the TF701T.
43. This notification popped up:*Connected as a media device.
44. On the TF701T, confirm that debugging can be performed from the connected device.
45. Issue this command on the desktop computer:*adb reboot bootloader
46. Now follow the instructions in the first post of this thread to install the recovery and the cm-11 ROM:*http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2621028
Is gives me an error when I go into RCK and it tries to flash the file. Is there a way to adb force the tablet to update? I called Asus for an rma and they are gonna charge me probably a lot to fix the tablet.

hi there,
yes me too.......but I´m sure it´s my fault, sdbags is wrigtht with "Simply rooting cannot affect the speaker - rooting installs two files and a script - that is it. " , I think I played too much with soundenhancers like->viper4android, fx music and on cm11 the dsp manager!!! It escaped my notice in wich configuration at last run correctly. I tried everything , I even formated every partition in the recovery mode! How ever IT´S MY FAULT , on my mobile phones all enhancers working perfect!!!Sound from my HTC ONE M7 +Viper4Android is awesome ......now I`ve learned that a "phone " is not a "tab"
p.s : anybody some knowledge in changing the hardware speaker on a tab???

same for me.
i used towerroot v1 to rooted my tf701f (still locked). and only have installed titanium backup on it -- then the audio is all distorted.
i have tried full wipe (using setting menu), and has since upgraded to 4.4.2 -- still no dice. My bootloader version is "us-epad-11.4.1.17-20140711".
Since my bootloader is still locked, is there a way i can do a full stock flash ? (I tried to download update/flash from asus site (US_epaduser_10_26_1_18_UpdateLauncher.zip), but they do not work)
thanks

Rooting is not going to have any effect on the speaker. That's most likely a hardware problem.
You are on 4.4.2 and Asus has not posted that firmware on their website yet. The file you downloaded is JB 4.3. If you want to flash it, you have to unzip it once, resulting in another zip. It's that xxxx...user.zip you need to copy to the root of your SD. But that would be a downgrade at this point. Make sure you got the correct SKU or it won't work.
are there any updated instructions with working links for this issue? a little late to the game rooting my tf701 and im also having the issue with the speaker sounding like its totally blown out

Mine blew a few months ago. Cheap hardware... Not worth it to repair IMO as long as Bluetooth works.
Reg. update /rooting: What exactly do you want to accomplish?
The best way still is:
Unlock the bootloader
Fastboot flash custom recovery
Flash SuperSU if all you want is rooted stock.
Or flash a custom rom
Several months ago I wanted to sideload apps (mainly for humblebundle) on my Nook HD so I followed the dummies guide instructions and got it all working, I remember the whole CWM thing coming up first time and it all going swimmingly. I put the little boot sd card away and then somewhere along the line either lost it, or someone in the house swiped it for themselves. So anyway I don't have it now. All was going well and then everything started crashing ALL THE TIME on my Nook HD, so I decided to wipe it as I wanted to put everything on a bigger sd card anyway. I thought wiping it would unroot it, because I don't know anything, but now I realise it didn't, it still comes up with Cyanoboot when booting up, but it has forgotten the side load app stuff I could do, it won't let me install them anymore. But it's definitely rooted, I just have no idea to what version (must be 10 something) because I am able to use link2sd no problem. So I have been trying to recreate the boot sd, so I can flash the sideload app thing and it is not working. I have followed all the steps carefully again and again, and tried on 3 different sd cards, and it will not boot from that little card at all, just boots normally every single time. Is there any other way I can get this one little setting to work? I'm not all that interested in putting 11 on there, just want this one thing to work. Is there a way to unroot the whole lot so I can just try and start over? Frustrating.
Have you tried to boot to internal CWM? If you followed the dummies guide you should have it installed internally. Look at the latest version of the dummies guide for how to set it up to boot to internal CWM.

Can't really figure out what your talking about from all your confusion.
Put cm on there and its one little check box from within android @ device settings -> security -> unknown sources. Everything you did would be non-valid.
If your talking about the offical bn rom, then I have no idea how the rooting effects sideloading.

Ok, I have tried to do this, and it won't. Every time I try it just comes up with a factory wipe question. I even tried downloading an app to boot into recovery, and it just rebooted normally.
Is there a way to just completely unroot easily and start over? Or is there something else I can try? Seems like getting this thing to sideload apps should be fairly simple, but it's not turning out that way.

Sorry for the confusion, I'm confused and frustrated with this.
Basically, my nook hd is rooted. I flashed it so it would sideload apps. All was well. Then all was not well, and I factory wiped it. It is still rooted apparently, but it no longer lets me sideload apps. I no longer have the sd card that I originally rooted it with. I want it to sideload apps. I can't figure out how to make that happen.

That message means you still have stock recovery installed. To easily start over, just interrupt the boot 8 times in a row by hard powering off the device before the boot completes. Hard power off means holding the power key for several seconds until it turns off. On the 9th boot, let the boot continue and it will reset itself to stock the way it came in the box. Then you can start over using the dummies guide.

Thanks so much, I think that worked, after a few attempts it did a different kind of loading while saying nook and didn't say cyanoboot, and has reset itself. Now to try again!
