Hi guys i recently bought a xperia z1 for a very low price here in india, im using it for 4 days now and everything is fine. I updated my phone to 4.3 using pc suite and it finished sucessfully. Just this morning i notices that my phone had no sony logo in the top front of the screen and now im worried that my phone might be a fake one, pls help me clarify this doubt. Is there any way to check for a fake sony??
Sony logo could be lost when removing the shatterproof film.
Maybe someone removed yours when you were sleeping.

Cpu-z don't lie, and if you flashed original Sony rom and the phone boot it's original.

I wonder why Sony is printing it's logo on the shatterproof film in 2013 devices =/
Would be much better if it was printed on the glass.

Perhaps tuey think it motivates owners to keep it...

I'm guessing that's why it was cheap...
But believe me, mate, you didn't lose anything important...
That's only screen protector and many of us remove it...
I would suggest this - buy Nillkin tempered glass, put it on your front screen and you'll have great device

Yes. Regarding the flap, I asked Sony about it, they said it was the design. The screen I got no idea.

About the flaps. I have the same problem. Sony told my it wasn't normal and asked me to send my phone for warranty.

Well that's what I did. Twice. It annoyed the crap out of me cause they were talking their own sweet time.

So this isn't just a problem of a batch, but it can happen after fix in sony service too? So bad..

Well it seems to be normal wear and tear. One thing i seem to notice is that the Zs dont have this problem at least not yet. One observation by a fellow Xda member, cant remember who, saying that the V seems to be just a prototype for the Z seems to be true.

Weird thing is. When I send mine to Bishan Sony, they repaired it in one day. They sent me a notification to collect the next day. However since I'm living in Pasir Ris, going there will take up time so I took it back after 2 weeks when I have my free time.

exactly thats why i said they were taking their own time. I should be turned off from waterproof phones but i might still get the ZR.
I recently bought an Xperia Z, but the glass back plate is a little bit caved in at the bottom, it's flush in the middle and it sticks out a little at the top, is this common? Has anyone had a similar problem? It really bothers me even though it's not visible ..

If you bought it from a shop then return it, since it's not normal.

Thats strange.... I think you mean insurance. That costs money and that is not what they meant here. Warranty is given by Sony if you bought the phone in an (authorized) store. So if you have a receipt you can go back to the store you bought your Z and claim warranty. The store will send your phone to repair center and they will fix it free of charge.

But rooting has nothing to do with a faulty backplate. So I still think Sony will repair your phone. Maybe you should try to contact them via Xperia Care chat support.

Just take it back, dependant on the carrier, they'll probably just replace it there and then (if you have the box and receipt).
They wouldn't notice it's rooted unless you have installed a custom ROM.
I work in an O2 shop in the UK and we have a 14-day fault swap policy. I assume most carriers are the same.
Under Eu legislation a shop has to give 2 years fault warranty its not a well know thing though so keep arguing and threaten lawyers then they will just replace

...if you can prove it is a manufacturing defect (which this case should certainly fall under).
They are not legally required to cover things that can be caused by software errors, such as burning out a processor due to overvolting, increasing the wifi antenna power too high, nuking the baseband bootloader, etc.

I swapped and recycled rooted phones myself and had no issues what-so-ever.
I can only say this for O2-UK.
Take it to the carrier and don't mention the root or leaked firmware at all. I'd think they wouldn't look twice other than at the actual casing.

You can always remove root and unlock your BL (If you have saved your TA)

It's an indication that the adhesive holding the glass is starting to fail. Caused by the heat generated by the phone itself.

Hello community,
Im just disappointed! Why? I'll tell you. I bought the Xperia SP 4-5 weeks ago.
I found some processing errors like:
1 small dead pixel on the right side of the touchscreen. (It sucks!)
The back cover doesnt fit 100%.
The back cover creaks sometimes, when I push on it.
I got the white Xperia SP and the aluminum frame got also an error. The color of the coating spalled in some places.
Picture: (made by another user with the same problem)--- http://s7.directupload.net/file/d/3352/taq33t6j_jpg.htm
I didn't drop the phone or something else.I always handled it very well.
Btw. that WLAN range issue sucks also a lot.
I will never buy any shi* from Sony again.
Sorry, but Im just angry! I paid 350€ and then this...
My questions: Got anyone else problems with the SP like me? Could I reclaim the phone because of that processing errors and the wifi error?
If under warranty I would send back because of dead pixel/screen probs.

Just wondering... Always thought, that Sony is a premium brand, which stands for quality, lol.
Maybe they are, but not on smartphones.
I`ll contact my provider and describe them my problems, hope, I'll get a new one without any errors.
Ty for your answer!

You must be under warranty!!! take it Back dont even think about it and demand for a new device. I paid 290 for it and i live in Greece (the most expensive place on earth) so i would not like it either if it sucked as a phone.
As for Sony not to be a fanboy but all my phones were bought from Sony (and Ericsson) and i was pretty pleased with the construction quallity.
Dead pixels suck, go get a new one since it should be under warranty. The back cover creaking is quite a common problem (I have it too), so I guess you can either get a hard case that fits, or just live with it.

Yea, you're right! The camera is also bad, but the cameria isn't very important for me.
I already contacted the provider, where I bought it, via E-Mail. Still waiting for an answer.
Please explain How did u get touch panel problem...
from the first touch?
or after some days?
or after update, flashing manually or unlock-bootloader and root?
problem appear when screen warm or not?
purchase date
& ...
(there might be more C6903 on poll results and it doesn't mean this edition is bad, it might because of more users for C6903 so more people to test and ...)
(there s already thread about touch panel issue But that was more personal experience and i want here more technical detail, tnx)

Got this problem after 2 months of using, after drowning it in the bathroom *suprisingly *, but I dried it as described in the manual So I hope that is not a reason. Z1 was rooted, UB. Temperature does not affect this. Bought it in November.

I have this problem from the beginning... I don't know how to fix it... I won't send my phone under warranty to fix it because here in Poland they will do everything to not fix your phone. In Warsaw we have Sony support center, they are fixing there Sony and SE phones. But they are also destroying your phone eg.: after fixing your phone is full of scratching, it has got damage on housing. Here in Poland this is normal.

- C6903 - purchased in Finland (Nordic area) mid November.
- Got the problem from day 1 no matter whether the phone was cold or hot or warm or whatever.
- Could test for it with a posted method here on XDA sometimes but not 100% of the time.
- Tried rooting (no custom roms, no unlocking BL) but couldn't get rid of the issue.
- Took it for repair under warranty a week before christmas and got it back 2 days ago with changed display brackets. Works as a charm now.
going not to buy xperia anymore...

DEAD Pixel !!!
i sold xperia z because of dead pixel and bought xperia Z1 and again 2 dead pixel !!!

Ok guys, as many of you knows, almost everyone has this touch screen problem with Xperia Z1, and i was one of them... I had to change the phone 3 times untill get a working one.
Here is the cause:
We have a lot of Xperia Z1 phones being made in Brazil, they are the C6943, C6903 and C6906 versions. My 2 problematic phones was made here, now my working phone is made in China....
The phones manufactured here are having assembling problems, this is causing a bad contact issue resulting on a fault touch screen. Make a test, tap the back of your phone and see if it will sound solid. If not, you problably have the issue.
The phones made here are being send to the entire world so please check on the box of your Xperia if its write "Made in Brazil".
I hope this can help you guys to change your faulty phone for a good one, remember, if this is your case change for a made in China one!

Just to clarify, the store called to manufacturer here in brazil and they said that was their fault, so this is one cause and as i can see brazilian ones are not the only, but for me until now all fine with chinese version

I understand you, and to complement i compared side to side the brazilian z1 and chinese z1 and they have some differences, the front face of chinese is more robust than the brazilian one, the hole of speaker on the top is smaller and better placed, the sensors are more visible and better placed too and the back of the phone is solid as rock, so i really believe that the Brazilian manufacturer made the phone with 3rd class pieces...
EDIT: But you are having this issue with a chinese one, so we have another kind of issue beyond Brazilian 3rd class pieces....
