just flash the full FTF, exclude everything EXCEPT kernel and tick NOT to wipe anything

fastboot flash boot kernel.sin
or
using flashtool dont extract kernel.sin on ftf in firmware selection right side under " exclude" leave unchecked kernel rest checked

Flashtool, check all but kernel.sin and don't wipe anything

Thanks! Worked like a charm!

Fastboot and Stock FW

Hi,
I have a question regarding flashing a stock FW (ftf File) over fastboot.
Is this possible on Xperia devices?
If yes, how?
I have an Motorola Xoom, where I can flash FW (IMG Files) over fastboot.
But how to do it if I have a FTF File !?
Is there a way to convert the FTF-File in an IMG-File and flash it over fastboot?
Can someone explain it step by step??
Thanks in advance
Best regards
UserX10
There is flashtool that will do all the job for you.
If you extract the ftf file you will see lot of .SIN files.
I don't know how to convert them to .IMG

I know the flashtool and I´m using it very often
I know that the FTF-File is a zip File where I can extract the SIN-Files, but how to flash them all (the whole FW) over Fastboot or convert them to IMG??
I don't know if you know that

Hi gm007,

[Q] FTF file cant be seen in flashtool please help

Hi friends i wan to install Curiosity ROM for my xperia t and my boatloader is locked due rooting it so i have to follow these steps
Use flashtool to flash any generic 7.0.A.1.303 ftf.
- Root using Bin4ry's method.
- Install CMW for locked bootloaders.
- Download ROM and CWM & with Reboot fix, and copy them to internal/SD memory.
- Enter recovery, and make wipes [wipe data / factory reset, and also wipe dalvik cache (advanced ---> Wipe Dalvik Cache)].
- Flash the ROM, and followed before reboot the CMW Recovery for locked bootloaders.
- Flash stock kernel .489 with Flashtool.
- Reboot, and after entering PIN, wait for a couple of minutes.
- Recommended restart again before start working.
I have downloaded ftf file and pasted it in firmwares but flashtool is not showing that file plz help

I have downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918397 generic 7.0.A.1.303 ftf. file but actually thats a zip file not ftf
Can you tell me how to convert that file to ftf
Extract it using Windows explorer.
Also, in flashtool when you browse for the ftf file it does not show the ftf file. Just browse to the folder where it is and click ok. You will see the voice of ftf files in the next dialogue box

Dont worry, I can see from your screenshot that flashtool has loaded the ftf file. Just attach in flashmode and it will go through the process.
If you do not know how to enter flashmode then read this which is what I suggest all new users do before they decide to start flashing and rooting

That would not work
kernel.sin is the file in the ftf you need to convert. Flashtool has everything you need to convert it and get access to the files inside.
