Hi,
I have a question regarding flashing a stock FW (ftf File) over fastboot.
Is this possible on Xperia devices?
If yes, how?
I have an Motorola Xoom, where I can flash FW (IMG Files) over fastboot.
But how to do it if I have a FTF File !?
Is there a way to convert the FTF-File in an IMG-File and flash it over fastboot?
Can someone explain it step by step??
Thanks in advance
Best regards
UserX10
There is flashtool that will do all the job for you.
If you extract the ftf file you will see lot of .SIN files.
I don't know how to convert them to .IMG

I know the flashtool and I´m using it very often
I know that the FTF-File is a zip File where I can extract the SIN-Files, but how to flash them all (the whole FW) over Fastboot or convert them to IMG??
I don't know if you know that

Hi gm007,

What is with the other SIN-Files?
Sorry no idea.

That would not work
kernel.sin is the file in the ftf you need to convert. Flashtool has everything you need to convert it and get access to the files inside.
I tried to extract stock kernel from the ftf. I extracted the kernel.sin file and tried to flash it, but only got error in Flashtool. How do I find the correct file to flash?

just flash the full FTF, exclude everything EXCEPT kernel and tick NOT to wipe anything
fastboot flash boot kernel.sin
or
using flashtool dont extract kernel.sin on ftf in firmware selection right side under " exclude" leave unchecked kernel rest checked

Flashtool, check all but kernel.sin and don't wipe anything
Thanks! Worked like a charm!

So I got updated to .101 firmware when my phone returned from repairs from the Sony centre. However, I'm unable to flash the .67 ftf in flashtool to downgrade and obtain root :/ It simply says that my phone is connected in flashmode and nothing happens after that, followed by disconnecting my device after a short while. I'm unable to flash the flashable zip in recovery due to some error to try and upgrade from the .434 firmware where I actually get root. Now I'm stuck on .101 firmware and I can't get root since I'm still using a locked bootloader

well it should work properly,i also flash the .67 ftf & root it then flash a pre-rooted ROM.
show the screenshot of the flashtool errors.
There aren't even any errors, it just says device in flashmode and nothing happens after that :/

Select the FTF you want to flash and only connect your device in flashmode when prompted. A flash has never failed for me that way.

Yes that's what I do always but ever since my phone came back from repairs, it's been like that. Flashing the .434 ftf works perfectly fine though.
Hi! I need some help in unbricking my Xperia ZR C5502. I flashed the Meow kernal and now its keeps rebooting. I need the stock kernal in ftf format or some steps to flash stock kernal..
I am currently try to use Flashtool but it suppports only ftf format i think...I tried one russian ftf extract and due to that my sony logo is back but it is still rebooting again and again.
Flash an original ftf firmware on your device through flashtool...
