2013 Nexus7, 16GB WiFi Edition
This is a full fledge Ubuntu Linux distro for the Nexus7 Tablet.
I've discovered the following:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Nexus7
I've installed Ubuntu Linux 13.04 on my 2013 WiFi Nexus7 16GB.
So far, seems to work fairly well. Even the onscreen keyboard.
The Nexus7 Boot Image and System Userspace Image can be found at:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/13.04/release/
After installing the automated installer on your Ubuntu Linux computer:
1. Add the attached modified checksum file to your /Downloads/UbuntuNexus7 folder
2. Replace installer script at /usr/bin with attached modified installer script
3. Be sure to remove the .txt from the attached files.
Everything will install smoothly from that point onward.
Awesome!! Going to try this tonight. Thanks!
Edit Installed it this morning! Works ok... wants me to do a distro updae to 13.10 which I thought was weird since there is no 13.10 installation media! Anyway, letting it update now and will report back!

It's the 2012 model type built in February of 2013 and sold in August of 2013.
...Right. So has anyone confirmed this for the 2nd gen Nexus 7? I'm in the process of trying to get this working myself. But I have a feeling the same issues that prevent us from using ubuntu touch on the 2nd gen will prevent this as well.
Did everyone have tried to install GNOME shell instead of unity window manager ?
For me it didn't work :'(

Guys, there is already a very long thread devoted to ubuntu desktop on the 2012 Nexus 7. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33313017 Please post there. Not to mention, it has been being used for well over a year. Multirom is also built to install it, without having to sacrifice your internal android rom. It is also noteworthy that the project has been discontinued for quite some time. Dont expect it to advance past its current 13.04 build. They made one 13.10 build, but it was very broken.
As far as anything to do with the Nexus 7 2013, they have thier own forum, and all conversation for that model should be redirected to there.
Hi,
I've looked for a thread on this, but all I can find is the TF700T. So I figured I'd start one. If it's a dupe, please just point me in the right direction and I'll ask the Moderator to delete this one. Thanks!
Anyway, I'm wondering if there's any way to get TWRP on an ASUS TF701T? I have CWM on it, but I need to be able to back up to my 64GB SD Card that I have installed in the slot and CWM won't see anything over 32GB, nor anything that's not formatted to FAT32. No offense to anyone who likes CWM, but in 2014, that's just weak.
Any help would be appreciated very much! I have been looking for days all over the Internet and in these forums and simply cannot find what I'm looking for.
There's no TWRP version for TF701 yet - unfortunately. Not even a touch version of CWM :crying:

Okay, I started to read the URL, then quit, because I can't stand reading pages, looking for the purpose of it.
No offense to you. I appreciate you pasting in the link! But really quickly, what is it for? Formatting larger than 32GB as FAT32, or something to that effect?
Also, aren't you the guy that makes those way cool kernels, like the one I was using for quite a while? It allowed OverClocking and stuff?
Curious: Do you have one for:
HTC One 64GB Developers Edition
BootLdr/GSM Unlocked (MetroPCS)
Factory ROM, KitKat v4.4.2, Rooted
CWM Recovery
Also.....
ASUS TF701T Tablet 10"
Factory ROM, JB v4.3, Rooted
CWM Recovery
I don't want to install a Custom ROM or anything. I like to start from scratch and then tweak the Factory ROM to the way I want my device to be, one modification/tweak at a time.
I know you had one when I was doing my Galaxy Tab and I have scoured XDA for your Kernels, because I only use stuff that I really trust and I really trust your work!
I'm not trying to be lazy here, even though it may seem it from not reading the whole URL. But that's not it. I'm just a "to the point" guy. I'm not saying I never ramble, but you will know what the purpose is rather quickly. <lol> And as I said, I did scour XDA and Google as best I could (for 3 days now) to find one by you that will work on my device, but I just could not find one.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME GUYS!!!

No. Actually, I was talking about that at first, but then I saw the guy who makes kernels and was asking about that and a link was provided for that, but I didn't see where to download and install it (how).
I would be interested in TWRP for my LG Optimus F6 though.

Hi, i gave a try a few days ago to build TWRP for TF701T; i think that my twrp.fstab is correct and that my TWRP build flags are OK too BUT the file i built was not working at all => touchscreen not working at all, dock keyboard was not working neither but recovery was correctly booting into itself... that is all because without any input method working, i got stucked into it !
I truly hope that you will produce a working one :fingers-crossed: and i really like to try your upcoming TWRP for TF701T builds out...
Just let me know about it...
Kind regards
Any update on this??? Love twrp!

The TF701 was released what one or two years ago and still no touch recovery. This is a very good device and one of the more overlooked, IMO.
Makes me wonder why no one that has the knowhow can or will make the touch drivers needed for such a recovery
I very much agree with the post above this post, it says it best.
Hello, is there a way to flash a kernel with loop device support on the XT1095?
I've been googling and searching on this forum but can't find. Maybe my english for search is not the best?
Thank you.

Hey, ty for replying. I tried Loop device check app and it says my device doesn't support it. I'm on official 6.0 on an XT1095.
Is there another way to check if my device supports it?

I'm having trouble to get the ssh and vnc services up. Did you come up with this problem too? I've found others having the same problem but no solution. Theres a solution that says I should reconfigure ENV on Linux Deploy settings but it didn't work.. I'm trying to set up Arch by the way.

I have no problems with them. Do they not start? Is there an error message? Before you installed did you select vnc and ssh in components to be installed?

Hi,
I am interested in installing Windows on my Remix Mini.
Any threads or tutorials that I can follow?
Thanks
Just make ISO image bootable and then flash through BIOS.

I don't think you can install windows on your Remix Mini as the CPU architecture is different from x86.

There is an IOT version of Windows 10 for the raspberry pi. Would be possible, but difficult. I don't think spamming F11 during boot will bring up the bootloader like on a windows computer
Is it possible to install Ubuntu or some other form of Linux on it?
