Yes. Remove md5 extension, open it with WinRAR and take kernel.bin.md5. You can use it with Universal Kernel Flasher. Next what can you do is to open it with WinRAR too, and erase all except two kernel files. You can use that file after that with Odin.

So kernel.bin.md5 is the kernel file and i can flash it with universal kernel flash, right?

You can try some kernel which works with froyo rom.. you want an untethered method so it needs to be a flashable zip or you can use kernel flasher app for galaxy s and use .tar kernel file to flash the custom kernel.. this will root your device.

This is a very old method.. What I'll suggest is going to darkyrom.com and get the 10.2 Resurrection Odin version.. Flash that and you'll have a rooted GB ROM.. Then you can flash CM 10.1 from recovery

once rooted you can use rom manager to flash CWM recovery.. it'll download and flash it.. no need to use odin .. and also once you are rooted you can use mobile odin too (though its paid I think.. rom manager free version comes which will do the work).

He can use just kernel, but we do not have much P users that can provide him that. Use your firmware, remove md5 extension at the end of filename. Open it with winrar or 7-zip and remove everything except kernels. And flash it with Odin.

XXLPD stock kernel
Here is the Odin flashable XXLPD stock kernel.
Use only i9070P.
Download this: deleted
Run Odin as administrator. Add the xxlpd_kernel.tar.md5 files in PDA section.
Reboot the phone in download mode and flash the file.
So that the original kernel will be on your phone.

Who said that TWRP is not compatible with Jellybean? And no there is no risk of bricking your phone if you flash or update to Jellybean (but don't flash the Chinese firmware - I've heard that some people bricked their phone by doing that)... Just be sure that the firmware you will be flashing is the "right" one... I suppose that you are running the Indian Gingerbread firmware - so you can officially update to DULP8 (but backup all you data, apps, etc . first)... And yes, root it and install CoCore E 6.2 or 6.8 kernel - it has TWRP 2.5 with it...

Ok but it is written that cocore kernel 6.8-or-something version is only compatible with jb. And I meant that flasing twrp when on jb is not supported. It was written on the thread. And by the way I am on JPLK2 firmware so is it safe to flash that kernel over twrp?.. I'm relatively newb to kernels but not custom roms, so it may seem like a noob question... my apologies

No. Galaxperia is jb stock based rom. You need to be on jellybean first to flash that. Once you're on jb, you can flash with either twrp/cwm. If you flash that while you're on gb, you're gonna stuck at bootscreen.

You need to stop worrying about "bricking your phone"... as long as you know what you are doing, nothing bad should happen to your phone... and Yes you will lose TWRP... but after updating to JB you can easily root it and install CoCore E kernel with TWRP.....

Custom recovery (TWRP in your case) is on the same partition as kernel is. By flashing stock firmware kernel partition is getting wiped and new kernel with stock recovery will be instaled. First try to understand what is happening when you do something, and you will not have anything to worry about.
Againg what is already said - you can't install JB custom ROM on GB, and you can't install GB custom ROM on JB. Flashing firmware with Odin will not brick your phone, but only if you use firmware for your phone. If you have I9070P, I9070 firmware will brick it. And otherwise, if you have I9070, I9070P will brick it. Hard brick.
If you want TWRP you have to install kernel with TWRP embended in side of it. Rooting will not harm your phone, it just insert SU file that enable having root permissions.

I attached one from XXLQB, I have that FW on my PC. You will need to unzip it.
P.S. People from general threads do not know specific devices kernels. I saw you question here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48476107#post48476107
I suggest you to use CoCore-E 8.2. And install No Frill CPU app from play store, then change Governor to PegasusQ and Sceduler to SIO. You will notice difference then.
Then I suggest you to debloat your ROM, search for debloating. Remove not used system apps. Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2200954

1. You can't be on stock recovery and on CoCore. With CoCore you only can have CWM or TWRP.
2. Why did you use old CoCore 2.8? I think there was a problem with it, and installing some zips. Use latest 8.2.
Now to avoid all those problems - flash stock JB again and do whole process again. I do not know how to do it now, maybe to use temp CWM and try from there... Search for link on our section. But again, much less painfull proces would be to go back to stock completly, root, install CoCore E-8.2.
Why did you complicated so much?
