Make sure that rom is completely downloaded.
CM11 is very special. You need to flash the kernel, the bootm.img that is inside the ROM's .zip. Flash it and then flash the ROM.
Again, if you are gonna flash another ROM first flash the correct kernel, let's say DooMLoRD's kernel for stock based like eXistenZ or the boot.img from CM10.2 ...after that you can flash the proper ROM
Just CM11 needs this.

Repair it with SEUS or PC Companion and re-do again what you've done
No. SUS and PC Companion only work with locked bootloader. But FlashTool supports unlocked bootloader. Try repairing with FlashTool.

well i read the forums but i didnt discover the same problem as me ...so again is the stock x8 rom not supposed to work after i flash the kenrel or am i doing something wrong?(ican get to cwm).MOreover,do i have to load the custom rom file first, then flash the kernel, then flash the loaded rom?
dude, flash nAa v10. after you flash it, the kernel logo will appear followed by the battery sign.
press power button, the phone will boot and the kernel logo will appear.
you will be sent do CWM Menu.
if you have a compatible ROM for nAa kernel, do a full wipe and reboot and see if the ROM boots successfully.
if you dont have a compatible ROM, do a full wipe, install CM 2.1.8 and then reboot.
U have to unlock bootloader first before flashing kernel,
this is the step (with stock kernel and rom installed and root) :
- unlock bootloader
- flash kernel
- enter cwm
- wipe data
- install custom rom
- wipe data again
- restart system
and ur good to go

You cant load stock rom with a custom kernel. Just flash GingerDx Rom and you should be fine. Flash the kernel first using the flash tool, then flash the rom using CWM and then turn on the phone
ty very much guys( especially bahmonkeys)!I should have known that

Here is a newbie guide to unlock the bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436924&page=2
After you unlocked BL you can flash the kernel with flashtool (with the latest one)
-Don't forget to copy you're rom to SDcard!
When the nAa logo appears hit the back button and you're in cmw menu.
full wipe->instal custom rom-> reboot your phone !
first flash your kernel and then install custom rom...
Hello everyone. I'm a newbie samsung user. I tried to root my phone (N700-Galaxy Note - ICS 4.0.4) using PhilZ Recovery method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
When I flash the zip in the stock recovery, everything seems to be ok, then when I got out and pressed "Reboot System now", the phone just turned off. I tried to power it on, but I stuck at the N7000 Logo (the logo just appears for a few seconds then disappears). However, I can still access the PhilZ Recovery
What should I do now? Should I flash a new rom with new kernel using that recovery (e.g: OmniRom with Raw Kernel)?
Please help, I'm really worry :crying:
Since you have Philz kernel then you can flash any TW ROM or AOSP ROM which is not KitKat. If you want to try out KitKat then you would have to first flash Raw Kernel and then from Raw kernel you can flash KitKat (ex. OmniROM).
If you want to go back to stock then you would have to flash a stock ROM using Odin.
whats the name of the zip file you flashed?

Hello guys !
I have got set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed error when i started to install a new rom (kitkat aokp lastest)
I have tried :
1- i have the lastest cwm and philz too
2- tried cwm (lastest v6.21)
3- tried philz lastest
4- tried another cwm versions
5- tried to search for this problem and nothing fixed it
hope you guys can help me
thanks ^_^
First, you need to unlock your bootloader in order to flash CM, AOSP or AOKP roms.
The usual procedure is to extract the boot.img from the rom zip, flash it with fastboot, then use the included custom recovery to flash the rom. It should tell you which recovery to use in the installation instructions.

On what ROM you was before?
If it was on 4.4 too, take its kernel, install it with Universal kernel flasher and go to recovery and restore it.
Kernel is in ROMs zip, name of it is boot.img.

I was lazy to give you full answer there.
First on 4.4. our developers repartitioned preload partition to use it as a swap, and on 4.1.2 there were some apks. So if you want to go from 4.4 (and 4.3.) you must repartition it with this guide.
Then you download SlimKat or OmniROM and use its kernel to get TWRP, extract its ZIP and copy kernel to phone (it is boot.img in root of ZIP file). Then install Universal kernel flasher and some root explorer from the Play store and install kernel. When it is done go to recovery (you will have TWRP) and restore your backup.
P.S. You can use CoCore kernel with TWRP too. But the process is the same.

You get a bootloop because CoCore is for Stock ONLY. You can't use CoCore on any other ROM than on Stock based one.
@shut_down
My zip to restore is needed in 4.4 ROMs based on Team Canjica sources built till 14 June, after that date (since we removed /preload as swap partition on 15 June) is no longer needed with new builds this is only an info, most of the users don't know neither on what build they are :silly: better to continue to tell them to flash that zip before restoring that kind of ROMs, nice work.
I had Flashed PACman ROM and today I tired to flash its Update today... But Installing the .zip failed and i rebooted My device... It only shows the SONY logo... Cant even boot to recovery... What to do nw??? Can I install the latest PACman ROM using flashtool (Fastboot mode)???

No, you can't.
Try flashing the .207 advanced kernel or doomlord kernel v13 with fastboot to see if you're able to get into recovery again.
If not, you'll have to flash an FTF file using flashtool and flash PAC again.
