Hello . This is my first post here. I am having a problem with my battery. i recently bought a new one with 1700mAh,is a compatible one. now the thing is i left my phone to fully charge but is charging only to 89% and stops. my guess is that the phone only see the 1500mAh and the rest of 200 cannot. is there any way to make the phone charge to 100%? Thanks in advance!

i too have a 1700mah battery from the Ace 2 and it works like a normal 1500mah battery would. the first time when i put it in i shut down my phone completely and left it charging for 16 hours (although it did have 50% out of the box). Another thing i learned is that it's better to charge Li-ion batteries when they are below 20%, because they have a limited charge cycle (about 300 charges i think) so when you charge it from 70% to 100% it counts as 1 charge. i used to charge my original battery like that and only lasted 7 months (then my phone restarted randomly, couldn't turn on when actually having more than 70% battery left (the indicator said the battery's dead, but when i pluged it into a charger and turned the phone on it had more than 70% left) !!
so is there any way to make the phone see the 1700mAh?

Does your new battery 3 or 4 contacts? The original batteries have 4 contacts. I think that by the fourth contact phone receives information about the charge, and if the new battery does not have that contact phone does not receive charge Information so it approximates.
what's your 1700mah battery brand and model ?

ok i've got the same battery and the only advise i can give you is to charge the phone 16 hours non-stop and see what happens (better be turned off). that's what i did when i charged my battery for the 1st time.

after you charged the phone 16 hours non-stop does your battery shows 100% fully charged?

Try to calibrate it manually. Charge the battery to 100% then with a root explorer go to data/system & delete batterystats.bin file & then unplug the charger.

I think that clearing the batterystats.bin file won't do anything, cause it just stores the info which is shown in the battery usage window in settings. And every time you charge your phone it generates a new batterystats.bin file. Not sure though

I did that and still from 100 to 90 in a few mins. I read somewhere that this is because all of the background apps but it still lasts a day with normal use (a little games, little browsing, a lot of listening to music and a few calls ) so it's no problem for me.

Ok so in this morning, the phone was 100% and off. i open the phone and its 92% 1 day is normal for this phone? with a little bit of games, web, talk and SMS?

Very strange! With stock rom my battery it drain in 2 days and aprox 10 hours. Have you try to discharge full the battery until the phone is switching off by it self, than make a full charge without starting. After that start your device. Try this...

I think is better to check with service for a further investigation......it shouldn't keep less than 2 days......have you check what services running in background? any application which has not stopped and drain the battery?
what's nice about android is that if you go into device info, you can see battery usage.
it shows quite accurately what's draining your battery. today I saw that cell standby service was draining 13% of my battery, and I don't have a simcard inserted, so I put the tab into flightmode.....
that your batterylevel jumps from 15 to 3 percent is strange. reminds me of ios.
you play a game afterwards you've got like 30% left, after a few minutes it jumps back up to 50% or something...
1)completely discharged battery
2)battery charging and when fully loaded delete file with root explorer of the route "data/system/batterystats.bin
3)restart device
my experience :
1. keep using the gtab till the battery 15% or less then
2. charge the gtab till 100% then
3. repeat the #1
it works for me
Havent you noticed that when you charge the phone powered off it takes like 40 % more time for the batetry to charge but it also makes the battery last longer? is there any truth in this or im just crazy?

This is a very well know issue related to battery calibration. Take a look at the many calibration threads to learn about bump charging.
Basically, it takes longer with the phone off (or when you pull and put back the battery while charging) because in some cases android was stopping the charge before a full charge.
Try this
Charge your phone to 100% (inside android)
Turn you phone off
Reboot
Pull the battery before it boots
Wait for the ?
Put the battery back in and notice the %
If it says 60%, then you had 40% of your battery not being charge.
If you leave it in that spot and wait for it to go to 100%, your battery will be better calibrated.

I pay no attention to the battery meter anymore. I've found that it just reads low. It's not that it doesn't get a fully charge, the phone can't read the level correctly. I tried draining the battery once by playing an episode of Top Gear with the screen on full brightness. The phone said the battery was at 5% but the video kept playing for another 1.5 hours.

NOTE: These tests were done using branded Orange PL firmware as well as UK Global
symptoms:
1. phone is charged by 100% then unplugged after about one hour
2. 100% is kept for the next 6-7 hours
3. during the day battery drops as normal till about 50%
4. once phone is rebooted battery instead of 50% shows 32%
I don't think the latest phones needs battery calibration (or am I wrong)
Sony has screw up the battery measurement
Hope they will soon release an update
Does anyone have similar issue?

Only happened on second or third day that phone was on last 1% for half hour other then that it is accurate to me.
[edit:] no harm done in deleting /data/system/batterystats.bin after full charge, unplug, let phone go to 1% and then fully charge.

Deleting battery stats will do nothing. Battery needs to be calibrated by charging full, unplug, turn off, plug back in till full, pop battery about 30 seconds, put battery back in then boot.

hey everyone , my phone's battery drops to 95-98% within a few minutes after i unplug it from the charger when the green LED shows up. I've tried battery calibration apps and everything but it didn't help, i've also charged my phone by keeping it powered off and that still hasnt solved the issue, i've read on some forums that the battery in many phones doesnt charge to 100% completely for the health of the battery, is it true? is this issue normal? i've also tried charging my phone to 100% when powered on, then i turned it off and charge it till green LED, and then turned it on and it gave 100% battery life. Most of the time , restarting my phone puts the level back to 100 or 99 %, is there a fix for this or is this normal? I'm currently running Android Revolution HD ROM on 4.4.2 KitKat. Any help will be much appreciated, thanks

Thanks, I read somewhere that it's common with 4.3+ HTC One's so it's all good
I've tried to fix this on my own, to no avail. Whenever my phone gets down to 50% battery life or so, it shuts off. Then, when I charge, it says 0% and will charge up to 100%, then shut down at 50%. It'll shut off around 30% occasionally. I've tried different ROMs- currently on Rapture 3.1. I've tried various battery reset programs- nothing has helped. What now?

Definitely a bad battery. I use Anker batteries and they works great. You can buy Anker battery set for around $20 on amazon.
I purchased a new battery (Samsung oem)- received it today, and put it in. Charged it to full, used it a bit, and at around 50%, my phone shut off. Any other ideas?

Though it's highly unlikely, but did you make sure that you didn't put old battery in your phone instead of new one ?
Battery Cal seems to have solved it, and is also obvious when I think about it.
