I bought a Sprint HTC One off of ebay. Hoping to flash a custom rom, unlock with viperboys sim unlock helper and use it with Fido in Canada. I have rooted two htc phone in the past and am somewhat familiar with the process.
I got as far as unlocking the bootloader and flashing cwm. But then I hit trouble.
When I boot into cwm I get these errors.
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
My sd card looks fine in windows, I can open it and use it normally. So I put a zipped rom onto it and boot into cwm (i've also tried twrp). Then I go to flash a zip from sd card it shows up with the following folders.
0/
GPU/
audio/
mms/
video/
weather/
zchgd/
It seems odd to me, and it doesn't look at all like what I see in windows, and I can't find my rom.
I've tried the following to fix this issue.
Wiped everything I could in recovery.
Ran an RUU three times.
adb sideloading a rom from recovery (I tried Viper rom and InsertCoin but both failed on install)
I hope this makes sense (no pun intended) and thanks in advance for you guys help.

Try flashing another rom.
That smells like the wrong recovery -- which recovery and which version did you install (send the actual file and link if you can).

First off, thanks for the reply. I used ClockworkMod, tried both classic and touch with the same result. It looks like the right one to me but here is the link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173863. The file is attached, had to zip it do to upload limits.

Well, m7ul is for the GSM Ones -- you sure you have that? If so, you should not be flashing non-GSM ROMs.
If you don't actually have the GSM phone, you would want m7spr and *not* m7ul for your CWM recovery. I'd urge PhilZ (based on CWM), but CWM is great too.
In any event. Can you send the model number of your phone so we can be sure what you have?

Just flashed PhilZ recovery, looks like it should now. It's a sprint version model # M7_WLS. I'd like to flash a viper rom, there is a sprint version but I'm not using it on sprint. So, if I flash the GSM version can I still use the sim card slot?
Ok, I get it now. Sprint phone = Sprint rom. Gsm phone = Gsm rom.
Thanks tdhite for pointing me in the right direction with the recovery, I can now flash roms. I think I'm good to go now.
Go install the LTE app from the play store if you want to play with different carrier settings. I use it with @hawknest's excellent, latest EclipticONE kitkat (insertcoin base). Works like a champ.

How do I fix when the phone flash stock rom and it doesn't boot and when it goes into recovery mode and it said E:Can’t mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (No such file or directory) E: Can't mount SDCARD
I already did flash roger 2.2 i896 but it still doesn't boot loop
but it can always go into download mode, is the hardware or software that is broken? T_T
May be a corrupted internal sd card.
You used a really old version of the Rogers stock ROMs which was not complete. Click the button in my signature and click the link for Rogers stock ROMs everything you need is right there.
Just do what TRusselo said, it will fix the problem. Those old Rogers package were missing some file like "dbdata.rfs" which gave you that problem.

I'm already flashed roger stock rom 2.3.3 UXKH2 but it still boot loop.
So I've tried to get this to work all day, but I can't get through the CyanogenMod splash screen.
I'm a complete newbie btw. I did have a custom room on my htc desire back in the day, but did nothing with my last previous galaxy nexus.
Anyway, I'll try to provide you with as much info as possible, so you can better can help me if you would be so kind.
So I followed some tutorial I found. Downloaded the latest version of CyanogenMod + Gapps.
Made the fastboot folder in c:, unzipped boot.img from the Cyan thing I downloaded. Wrote what I was supposed to in command prompt, but only got <waiting for device>. Put the zip-files in the internal memory. Went into recovery using the CWM v.6.0.3.1. Wiped and flashed. Only got to the Free Xperia screen. Wiped and flashed again. Now I'm at the CyanogenMod splash.
The recovery says:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
Don't know if that got anything to do with it.
Now I don't know what to do. I'm actually pretty sick of this now and just want to go back to stock Sony again, but I can't -_-
Is it possible to make this thing work again? I'm about to throw it out the window and just buy a new one, haha -_-
Any help would be much appreciated.

I think I figured it out though. May have been the CWM version. I'll try again today.

Thanks for helping guys.
Now I've flashed this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2215814
Got the phone up and running again.
Followed this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs2iPY0J4ZA
Now I'm 100% sure it's rooted.
I figured the CWM I was running had this in the thread:
[ known issues ]
1. USB storage doesnt mount in recovery (can be fixed, i think)
2. do not use this for flashing CM10.1 (u will need to use the CM kernel for that)
Where do I find this CM kernel?
Sorry for being completely green on this.

I have tried flash 4 roms but still "Symlink: some symlink failed...(status 7) installation aborted".
I flashed it after full wipe so now I can't start my phone. Everytime it starts, it goes into recovery mode
I tried PASSIMG.zip method but my phone can't find that zip.

I'm not expert but I suspect you have not installed the proper Hboot for the roms you are trying. Probably not large enough partitions. Try reading the instructions of either rom...

Yup for VJ's CM 10.1, you will need to resize the HBOOT from 145/90 ( which is your default) to 260/10. You will need a tool called BlackRose to do this.
Detailed step by step information present here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804571
is messing with the partition necessary for the Sprint HTC One? Sorry just don't want to get all into this solution if it won't work for me like everything else. Thanks
Hey,
After updating my HTC one with OTA for latest Hboot I flashed Viperone 2.0. now i try to install a custom kernel ( tried different ones) but i cant get it to install.
Recovery starts aroma, I'm able to check/uncheck all the options, but when it starts to install, my recovery just reboots. I tried TWRP, and CWM touch and non touch. I always wipe cache with fastboot erase cache. Did this like 100 times. Also wiped cache partition and dalvik in recovery. Downloaded the kernels multiple times on phone, and I transferred them from PC. I had the same issue with the xposed patch for xprivacy, but not when I installed the rom. I never had this issue before upgrading my Hboot.
Do I miss something? Anyone familiar with this? Any help appreciated

I had a similar problem with a broken .zip-file. If it goes to Aroma installer it is very unlikely to be the problem but try to redownload the file. What versions of TWRP and CWM are you using?
What Hboot version did you flash? Why didn't you flash the complete 2.24 firmware package?
Tried fastboot erase cache already?

I've downloaded the zips multiple times, on my phone and I also transfered them from my PC. So its unlikely that the zip is broken. I restored a stock nandroid/stock recovery to recieve the OTA 4.2.2, and my Hboot is now 1.54. After that I reflashed recovery and installed viperone.
I used CWM 6.0.3.5 and TWRP 2.6.0.1. Also did fastboot erase cache multiple times.
I'm gonna search for CWM 6.0.3.2, and give that a try.
When i try to flash the kernel through Venom Hub, recovery give the error:
E: Invalid command argument
Finding update package...
E: unknown volume for path [INTERNALSDCARD: 0/venom/kernel/ElementalX-m7-3.4.zip
E: Can't mount INTERNALSDCARD: 0/venom/kernel/ElementalX-m7-3.4.zip

When i go to mounts and storage in CWM, there is no option to mount/unmount sdcard. Shouldnt there be a option for this?
Try downloading the kernel directly from flar's thread and leave it in your Downloads folder and then try flashing it from there in recovery

I format/wiped everything in recovery, sdcard, factory reset etc. Pushed a rom with adb, and installed. But when i try to install a kernel I've got the same problem....
Ok I checked with a friend in recovery, an he has the option to mount sdcard... I don't have this option in recovery. Something wrong with my sdcard?

Sdcard is actually the same as your internal memory. If something would be wrong with it it would not even boot up. If I got that right you even select the files you want to flash from your SD.

Okay, so i guess that has nothing to do with the problem i cant flash kernels...
I'm having exactly the same problem after flashing ViperOne 2.0.0. I tried redownloading the zip file several times, other kernels and changing recovery but nothing has helped. I was able to flash a custom kernel fine on ViperOne 1.2.1. I wonder if the ROM has something to do with it...

I think I just fix it by going very slowly through aroma on when installing the kernel. Like 5 seconds wait on every step , and now it installs fine....

The newest CWM is 6.0.4.9. My suggestion would be to delete LGFreedom folder off your SD Card and re-run the FreedomFlex app again as it will then download the latest CWM and you can just flash the recovery again. I had the same issue with 6.0.4.8
Problem is I can't get anything accept CWM, and I can't mount internal card, LG driver is already installed, and I tried to reinstall it, but he is still not seeing it. Any idea how to access it? If I have to have old Sprint ROM to install FreedomFlex again, I need somehow to transfer it to the internal memory and start the installation from there.

I don't quite get what the problem is.... Are you stuck in CWM or can you boot into the rom?
If you're stuck in CWM and don't have a backup or any other rom to flash (why?), you can always sideload a rom using adb (if you are stuck in a CWM bootloop look here for help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2744482)
If you can boot back into the rom, follow my previous reply....
The only other option is to flash back to stock by following the tutorial here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644083

Can't boot back to the ROM, I have stock ROM downloaded on hard drive, but I thought if I make a mistake, I would easily copy it to internal memory, and install it from there. Problem is that I cant, adb devices is showing nothing, so I can't use shell to copy ROM.

Well it looks like the only option is to go back to stock from the link I posted and start again, but make sure you've got everything on your phone you need before trying anything... Also trust me CM11 isn't worth bothering with just yet as there is a lot of issues with it, but I'm sure it will get there as PlayfulGod is working on it

Tnx for help, but I spent 4 hours trying to solve why I can't reach internal memory. At the end, LG drivers weren't working, so I pushed manually to set it as ADB port , and finally found the phone through adb devices command. After that, returning stock was easy. Now, I'm on CM11, thanx on those links, combining with one more thread and the problem is solved.
