Hi there guys. I got a weird problem. Hope you can help me. My contract is expiring and i can have a new gadget though only one. I can either have the note 3 or ipad air, but i'm really confused.
Now, if you are in my shoes, which will you prefer. Please don't base your decisions on my personal needs, but to your personal needs instead. Imagine you only have the Note N7000 and a PC as your gadget currently.
Please choose and state why based on your personal needs.
Thanks guys. Appreciate everyone's help.

That is not a valid comparison.
Phablet vs Tablet?
Reasons for a Note 3:
Customisation (roms, launcher, status bat etc....)
Cellular features that are more than just data (call, text etc...)
S pen (percise stylus good for note taking, doodling and doodling)
Ture multitasking with multi window
Better quality music for audiophiles (Wolfson 3g variant + 200+ dollar headphones ONLY). The Qualcomm version isn't bad just not as good but still better than the iPad Airs out put
Flash support with 3rd party browsers.
13mp camera with LED flash and a set of advance yet easy to use features.
It's non - restrictive meaning you can use your phone as a computer to download all sorts of files even P2P with bitorrents, extract zip + rar, download videos from youtube and extract it on board or simply use it as a USB flash drive.
Sending files over bluetooth
Being able to use your phone as a remote
Micro SD slot to cheaply expand storage rather than $100 dollars per twice the storage.
Those smart gimmicks that are useful like smart rotate and smart stay.
Reasons for the iPad Air
The larger screen 9.7" Retina display (bigger + higher than the 1080p in that of the note 3 IGNORING dpi)
It's a closed eco system meaning more quality control of apps and higher levels of security
iOS user experience will be more constant and smoother than that of any android device especially with the A7 power house.
Apps are generally more optimised so the software takes all the advantage of the hardware
Created a one code one screen size policy so the tablet apps are genuinely redesigned for tablets and it's screen area.
Better GPU in combination of better optimisation means it will be a better performer for graphics such as games thus more future proof
It's 64 bit so some CPU intensive task will perform better
Simplistic approach to UI (as technology was intended to be)
Higher 2nd hand resale value
It Is backed by worldwide hardware warranty no matter where the device was purchased as long as it was on this planet
At the end of the day, it is up to you to decide which one is better for you.

Yo!
So, i'm looking for a new phone to buy but i can't decide between the Galaxy SII (the white one which IMO looks hawt) and the Galaxy Note.
I can't decide if i want a 5,3" screen or 4,3". I know, it's stupid not to go for the 5,3" screen, but i'm not sure on size of the device itself.
What whould you buy? (Btw, is the Note's bootloader open/crackable?)
(Mods, i know i'm in the wrong area with this post, but i want to check what my homies here @ Off-topic think)
Either way your getting an absolute f******g beast of a device....
Not sure if the note would be just that little bit too big for a phone but I havent handled one so I can't really comment...
The white one looks putrid though (jm2c)
Yeah i know! But i've tested the Galaxy S WiFi 5" and it's huge, and the Note is even bigger BUT it's way way thinner, so.. i don't know! But.. but.. just LOOK at that screen!
I've got the S2 and absolutely love it, but I would (after a try) probably swap for a Note if I could, so I voted for that.
Either way mate, like Conan said you're getting a BEAST! Get one of each and then give me the one you decide not to keep
Even tho i think the note is WAY WAY WAY TOO BIG!!!
I voted for it as it is faster
Hmm, looks like the Note will be my new device! The only thing i'll have to do now is to wait...
It's not released here yet.. Booo!

i'd have gone for a Galaxy Note, if they made it for the Tmo USA AWS 1700/2100 network
Yup, i'm super into the Note now after reading Engadget's review and watching a lot of YouTube videos. I must have it! Come to papa!
Either is great but the Note has a Pentile screen so some say white looks green especially whe magnified (Best iimage I can currently find) But either choice is awesome
(Also below only shows a SGS1,)

Because we are talking about a Super AMOLED display and not a Super AMOLED Plus, the display is based on a so-called PenTile pixel structure, where pixels share subpixels. A PenTile OLED panel was recently introduced with the Samsung Galaxy Note, and we were not impressed. In real world PenTile means loss of details and sharpness, as well as a bluish/greenish tint around letters (depending on the background color). See how it looked on the Galaxy Note in the picture below.

Rolling another green android as we speak.
I am definitely addicted to Android since discovering MIUI.us 2.2.3. Take the best features of IOS, add to it the best features of Android, throw in a liberal dose of nuance, style and flair and you have the perfect ROM.
I never thought i'd be saying this but it really is an order of magnitude better than Cyanogenmod. The infamous Android lag is all but gone! The N1 touchscreen wonks..gone! It's like i died and woke up in smartphone heaven. Most of the apps i used to use i don't need any more. Decent File Browser? Check. Decent Browser? Check. Decent SMS/Dialer/Alarm? Check!
What i don't need in a ROM are a hundred features that i have to turn off because i don't use them. What i do need in a ROM are core features that just work well. Consider me converted!
I seriously wouldn't trade my two year old phone for anything on the market right now, not even if it were free. Not a chance!
Wich phone you own?

I'm hooked on IceCremeSandwich's with no-sense!
pure curiosity
first, i have the android phone, then switch to iOS then at now, android again feeling to be more comfy with android (though iOS still rocks on perf and display)
but guess, loving now android coz to put my dev-inside
MIUI.us is working out so well for me. I have apps that never worked well on CM7 that are working perfectly now. The famous N1 touchscreen wonk has disappeared completely, (which is a miracle in itself), and not only are the stock apps better than AOSP, (Gallery, you know i'm talking about you), but they're better than the usual replacements. (Sorry, Quickpic).
A big plus is a beautiful U.I that is consistent throughout the software and on par with IOS. It's like somebody read my mind and made a bespoke ROM for me! It's all the little touches too. The nice animations, the way the music fades out when you pause it, (not to mention Lyrics support and a pretty visualisation), options for re-ordering Bookmarks in the Browser, a good Notes app, in built backup for apps, system and theme. It's incredibly fast and smooth too. Without the OC i had in CM7 it actually performs better!
Pics for the uninitiated:
How about a stock Data usage app, or a Firewall:
How good is that?
I love my android phone...
Still my first (galaxy mini), but i hope my next one will be better...

And yeah, the light pool is sooo cool. Me want tooo~
Yea that light pool is good but I don't think I'd like a flip phone anymore, I'd prefer a knight rider kit car style line of leds going across the top of the phone with kits voice added to navigation and finish all instruction by calling me Michael in a dry sarcastic tone.
I'd also like boot loader password to protect against people hacking my phone and a nuclear battery that would last forever, that could double up as a small yield nuke for blowing things up at will.

For any I9305 S3 owners .. Whats the overall speed (fluidity) like on your device.
Do you get any sort of lag whatsoever, simple things like running a live wallpaper in the background etc. ?

Well recently I updated to official 4.1.2 German firmware and its quite fluid. I find the only basic annoying lag is when you press the home key. Theres a lot of lag and then it decides to go to homescreen. Otherwise I have few eegrets. I however recommend a Galaxy Note 2. Bigger, faster processor, and comes with s pen. Thats if you can manage the extra size. Otherwise the s3 is your best bet
As far as I know the S3 uses exactly the same processor as the Note 2.
The Note 2's is just overclocked to 1.6ghz, we can do this on the S3 quite easily.
Mines running 1.7 ghz so it's faster than Note 2.
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app
No, the Note2's chip is at revision 2.0, whereas the SGS3's is at v1.1. The Note2's chip is better.
The LTE version of the SGS3 is exactly the same as the non LTE version (I have both). They can both be as fast or slow as you want them to be depending on the CPU and governor settings you apply.
Live wallpapers? I was running live wallpapers on my single core 1GHz HTC Desire, i really don't think a quadcore 1.4GHz beast is going to struggle.
That's interesting about the processor, I asked if they were the same in the store when I was weighing up between Note 2 and LTE S3. The guy in the store said the processors were identical, just Note 2 is clocked at 1.6 ghz. Just shows how much they know!
Oh well I still don't regret my decision the i9305 is a beast of a phone and the Note 2 is just toooooo big for me.

Trust me you won't regret it, I upgraded from a normal S3 and see the difference with multi tasking the extra 1 gb ram and the ability to support lte and also dc-hsdpa ( faster form of 3g) that's not present on the normal s3 makes this phone standout. It's what the original s3 should have always been to start with

S III LTE is one of the best phone currently out there, with a continuously growing base of custom rooms, kernels, mods etc. Even on the stock rom the UI is very smooth. Altough (at your own risk) I would recommend rooting and debloating the phone.
The 2GB RAM is the kicker.
| Mobile Message
I have an i9300, i9305 and the i9505 (S4).
I find it hard to believe that the only difference between the i9300 and i9305 is the extra ram. The i9305 absolutely blows the normal S3 away. To the point that I literally only began using the i9300 only for calls / text. Lag on the i9300 is massive in comparison.
And the difference in battery life is enormous. I've owned 3 i9300's and 3 i9305's so this wasn't a case of a bad phone. All 4g models had / have much better battery life. So much for 4g phones being battery hogs. Simply not true.
To be honest I don't find the s4 any quicker than the i9305. It's a beauty. And I agree this is what the i9300 should have been.

Samsung just announced the Galaxy S5 Plus. Bummer I just bought my S5 about 2 months ago.. and literally just bought a Nexus 5 to play around with from the Play Store..
Features a 2.5Ghz Snapdragon 805 (underclocked from 2.7GHz found in Note 4)
Significantly faster memory bandwidth
Upgraded GPU (presumably a Adreno 420)
Faster LTE (advance 300Mbps).
Anyone here tempted to upgrade? Im wondering what the overall performance is like compares to S5 and Note 4.

Don't c a need to upgrade any further unless they improve the display and add more ram...And stop with all the dang lockdown on their phones ...if it wasn't for HTC so called ultra pixel camera I would jump to them ..
