[Q] Kid's Case/Full body protection for Nook HD - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need a really solid Nook HD case, preferably full coverage, so i can hand the unit to my young daughter. I cant seem to find anything nook specific. Anyone have recommendations? nothing i've seen in the threads here seems to match up with what i need

I did, nothing really seemed to be baby/toddler friendly.

Screen protection for nook.

Is it best to buy a generic tablet one and try and custom cut it, or do they still sell perfect fit ones?

I bought Nook Color - specific ones from MonoPrice.
Good quality and easy to apply. I went with the anitiglare ones.
Check at Ebay.
They have nook specific screens which work just fine.

Please check Racks Dualboot topic and especially latest posts by me. Also other topics at Questions section about CM9.
After upgrading to AOKP version, CM9 is more stable then ever.

I have to agree with Rastaviper. The Aokp ICS rom is comparable to cm7. Stable (running for 3 days with no lockups and no SODs) and reasonably smooth.

[Q]. Is the nook simple touch the same thing

I recently ordered a computer thru HP, and it comes with a free nook simple touch. Is it the same thing that this forum is for? Never owned a nook so not sure how many models there are.

Where do we go for the new Nook HD

I didn't see a sub forum for it yet. I'm talking about the white polycarbonate model. On the B&N website they mention no differentiator from the prior gen, its simple called NOOK HD or HD+.
Do we here on XDA have another name for it (like new hd+) or (White HD)..ect ect.

The white HD is exactly the same as the other HD only a different color. It is not new.

Yes. In fact, my first HD that I bought last December was a white one and the zips I made for the HD were made for it. It is identical to all the other HDs.

[Q] upgrading

well, sadly my nexus 7 has become so slow its almost unusable. So im thinking of upgrading to a larger tablet (8.9 inch or 10) but i am not sure which ones to look at. I want to stay below the 250 price mark so right now im leaning towards the Kindle Fire HD 8.9. Anyone have any other suggestions??? Id love to hear them.
I think you should read up and get what's right for you, in your price range. Asking others is just plain silly. We all have different tastes, needs, funds....etc.
Good luck.
P.s. Under 250 for a 10"tab?? What a dinosaur or no-name junk heap that would be.
Oh....and if you aren't willing to put forth a wee bit of effort to get your tab running like it was new again.....then I gotta suggest you try an ipad. They're neat!

Oh trust me, ive done several things to get it running properly again, its just not working. Ive tried several rom/kernel combos and nothing seems to get it to not lag. and btw ipads aren't neat
ive found the toshiba excite 10" for 250 but the reviews arent that great for it. Im just not sold on it yet...
And tablets don't just slow down either.....software does.
Hint....Google nexus 7 lag. Lots and lots will pop up!

A used iPad sounds great for you. No lag and you can probably get a 2nd or 3rd Gen for <$250.

Found a note 10 for 260 thanks anyways

Dude you just have to clean your tablet frequently like I do. Just install advanced system care and power saving apps. Use their widgets and put them on one page of the home screen so you don't have to use the actually apps..... Something so simple some people get rid of their devices because they didn't know it. Lol

People convince themselves that something is bad to justify getting something else. And usually nothing will change their minds.

got dodgy chip

I've bought a nook hd plus, after checking,it seems I've got the dodgy chip.
I'm planning on putting 10.1.3 on it,and obviously not mess with the trim kernel fix.
My question is,as long as I stay away from the trim lagfix fix will my nook be okay or should I return it?,I know it'll suffer some
lag but is that the worse thing I'll encounter?
Or will this dodgy chip eventually break my nook and make it
unusable?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I think the only effects you will see is lag. And you can sometimes clear that up by doing a nandroid backup and restore with CWM.

Thanks a lot for the reply Leapinlar, much appreciated,if that's the case i'll definitely keep the nook then,I can put up with a bit of leg,I was just worried there might be worst errors because of the chip problem, though mines the FwRev: 0×06 version which might have been patched, though not totally sure.
Once again, cheers pal, really want to keep the nook hd plus, its a fantastic bit of kit for the price.
How do you know you have a bad chip

Theres an app in the playstore, run it,and it'll show the chip your device has,if its a MAG2GA,then you've got the faulty chip?,take no notice if it says sane chip, thats misleading when it comes to the nook hd.https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.vinagre.android.emmc_check
